When The FBI Does It, That Means That It’s Not Illegal

Real Clear Investigations;

For the past year, defenders of the FBI have consistently downplayed the significance of an FBI staff lawyer falsifying evidence in the government’s investigation into Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia. They argue Kevin Clinesmith’s crime of altering a CIA document to obscure the fact that former Trump campaign aide Carter Page worked for U.S., not Russian, intelligence was a rare lapse in judgment by an overworked bureaucrat. It was not, his apologists say, part of any broader conspiracy to conceal exculpatory information from surveillance court judges, who never learned of Page’s history with the CIA before approving FBI warrants to wiretap him as a suspected Russian agent.

But such explanations are challenged by new revelations from court papers filed in the case, which some civil libertarians call the most egregious violation and abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) since it was enacted more than 40 years ago.

The little-noticed documents, which include never-before-seen exhibits, were submitted by Special Counsel John Durham and lawyers for Page, who has been granted time to address the court as a victim when it sentences Clinesmith Jan. 29 as part of a plea agreement. Page and his attorneys argue that the FBI obtained his electronic communications, both written and oral, based on fraudulent warrants in violation of his Fourth Amendment rights. He is suing Clinesmith and the FBI for $75 million in damages.

The court filings reveal, among other things, that Clinesmith knew much earlier than has been reported about Page’s cooperation with the U.S. government, and was not alone in knowing that he had provided information on the Russians to the CIA — or in covering up that knowledge.

  1. Yep, 4 years of non-stop lying sacks of shyte trying to get the public to believe this towering fantasy propagated by the elites for their own benefit.

“Trust me I’m from the government, and I’m here to help!”

Yes of course, they’re here to help….THEMSELVES!

    Prosit!!

  2. and once again we see that the FBI and basically all government is composed of self serving liars. Oh well.

  3. Wonderful. Is anybody going to go to jail? Will Mr. Page ever get justice?

Of course not. The American courts operate by and for the Left. Equal justice is a cruel joke.

  4. The FBI has been exposed as treasonous and corrupt for anyone with an open mind to see. I used to think Canada was more corrupt that the US, I am rethinking that.

  5. What Mr. Clinesmith is too thick to understand is that HE was preselected to be burned at the stake as a low-level (barely 30yo) sacrificial lamb. He was prepositioned to go under the bus when the Republicans finally figured out … “What Happened”.

Nothing to see here. Move along. Your government weaponization against its “domestic enemies” has actually accelerated … not curtailed.

  6. I wonder how FBI agents are being received in the Hinterland?
Now clearly identified as a corrupt agency of the Progressive Rot,how does a free citizen answer to “FBI Investigation”?
For none of the “honest rank and file” that the Fox talking heads kept telling us of,has come forward.
None have taken action to keep the oaths they swore to get their positions at the public trough.
So what does an honest citizen say to them?
    Besides “I want a Lawyer”?
After the abuse the FBI brought to General Flynn and the open campaign against the President, how do the agents even have the guts to show their faces?
And why should anyone trust them?
For if I worked for Bosses revealed as so corrupt,I would be seeking another job.

    1. There are no honest rank and file. For every roach we see, there are more behind the wall

  7. Comey did nothing “wrong.” He was just an incomprehensibly incompetent and tragic joke of an investigator and administrator.
Nothing more than than and Clinesmith’s typo. Comey honestly believed obvious opposition research was raw intelligence.
Clapper and Brennan told so, and “17 intelligence agencies,” their access to raw intelligence increased from 4 by an Obama EO.
The same bunch who assured us all Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation,” when it wasn’t, a detectable pattern.
If Durham truly believes that, that Comey was just extremely careless, not grossly negligent, I have a parade square to sell him.
Of course, even if he recommends criminal charges, the AG could overrule him.
Then again, none of the children like Jimmie, so he has some “exposure.”
Jail time is too good for him. Ruin him for what he did to his nation.
