    2. I have been re-reading the book of Joshua and the lesson is simple: there were about 2 generations of 40 years between good times and bad times and it was pretty regular. It always took a generation of suffering to be corrected. We are in for a time of correction because the suffering has begun. And it repeated because the generations forgot what was important, as the poem suggests, settling for ideas that were never worthy of consideration.

      1. People like to “pooh-pooh” the Old Testament, but I have found it to be consistently true. I agree with the 2 generations and that people of Canada and the United States are in for 20 years of “hurt”. The past 4 years have reminded me of the turmoil of the 1970’s and of the lost decade of the 1990’s for Japan.
        As an aside, the Old Testament was very big on the “sins of the fathers” being visited unto the 7th generation. People are always amazed that the Kennedy family has so many untoward deaths/drug addictions/problems. It is all down to the evil perpetuated by Joseph Kennedy back in the 1920’s. By my reckoning, the Kennedy family still has at least 2 more generations (40 years) of problems ahead. I think the Biden family is just beginning their 7 generations of problems.
