Asymptomatic Spread Revisited

The conclusion is not that asymptomatic spread is rare or that the science is uncertain. The study revealed something that hardly ever happens in these kinds of studies. There was not one documented case. Forget rare. Forget even Fauci’s previous suggestion that asymptomatic transmission exists but not does drive the spread. Replace all that with: never. At least not in this study for 10,000,000.

  2. I don’t know about that…..the symptoms can be so subtle you might not even notice…or just think you’re having an off day…..didn’t get enough sleep…..have a slight cold

    2. So now we believe the Communists?? The study was done on 10M people in Wuhan. A study that large must have the full blessing, and possibly the influence, of the CCP. On a March Joe Rogan podcast world renowned epidemiologist Michael Osterholm said the spread was asymptomatic. I believe Dr. Osterholm. I don’t believe the CCP.

      My conclusion: if thousands of people per day are only catching COVID from people hacking, sneezing and coughing, maybe the largest comorbidity is stupidity. Hand out the Darwin awards.

      Dr. Osterholm has stated from the start that he doesn’t believe in lockdowns. I agree.

      2. I think the virus is out there. You do not have to catch it directly from another person. The key factor regarding people getting sick is their own immune system. This is born out by the stats of people who get seriously ill from the virus. The lock downs make no sense, and worries about asymptomatic transmission are excessive. It is not just the CCP making this claim. Worrying about asymptomatic transmission requires you to hide from life. And note that many people who end up getting infected state they were very careful about distancing and masks. You cannot hide from a virus. A virus will run its course.

    2. Interesting theory, Steakman. Introduce a virus and then introduce a vaccine. Perhaps the vaccine could contain a mild birth control solution. Continued booster shots to be on the safe side. End result most women become infertile. Right out of the Handmaid’s Tale. Attwood was prescient in her book. Why would the Chinese do that. Consider that their one family one child didn’t work. Consider that the country can no longer produce enough for their population. State ordered infertility could be easier to implement if no one knows about it and a good lot easier than cleansing millions by interment into a concentration camp.     1. In Canada life expectancy for men is about 80 and for women its about 84.

      The average age of Wuhan flu death in Alberta is 82.

    The article quotes some WHO staffer back in June saying transmission by asymptomatics is “very rare”. Yet in August this narrative was still making its rounds in the media:

      Go on scholar.google.com yourself and you can see all of the studies that show that pre-symptomatic people, people who are asymptomatic right up until they get symptoms, not people who never develop symptoms, spread the virus readily, probably more than people with symptoms

        I think that the study pivots on a country that hates us buts loves our ability to buy. I think the CCP made this virus intentionally. We haven’t been told enough to know for certain that it was released intentionally but we could find out with Trump in office. With Biden it will take a lot longer. But the claims that are refuted by the study are worth questioning. And the suggestion that the Lancet has credible information is laughable. Lancet lost its drawers in the “study” it claimed in the Iraq war. I think they tell very tall tales in that boardroom.

      Yes. COVID19 has been so politicized that internet information from 2019 and earlier dealing with the efficacy of masks and social distancing have been blocked or removed.(they tested both and NO they do not work)

  7. Bad tests. I said this before. COVID 19 tests are not sufficiently reliable, therefore not valid in predicting whether a person has or does have the disease.

    This is what I learned in introductory courses 40 years ago as a testing and assessment specialist, not in the physical health field, but the same principles apply across disciplines.

  8. Notice that the study never mentions “pre-symptomatic” spread, which has been thoroughly documented to happen. It talks about people who are so mildly infected that they never get symptoms. You can only do this retrospectively. If you are pre-symptomatic, it means that your viral load is building but you haven’t developed symptoms yet, and in this case you certainly can spread the virus.

    What it does suggest is that forcing children to wear masks when it distresses them is probably a waste of time, since they rarely develop symptoms and are usually straight out asymptomatic even when they catch it, not pre-symptomatic.

    If anybody here can explain how they can know, when they are infected and don’t know it because they don’t have any symptoms yet, whether they are pre-symptomatic and infectious or will remain asymptomatic and most likely unable to spread the virus, I would love to hear it. Explanations requiring accurate crystal balls not accepted.

      1. It is probably pretty rare, this study might well explain it. Schools should re-open, and older teachers should be allowed to retire if they are too scared to do their jobs.

      1. Simply not true. SARS could only be spread by symptomatic people, and that died out. This is still growing for a reason. People who do get sick spread it for three days before the symptoms start. People whose symptoms never start, don’t spread it.

    3. Sick Kids hospital in Toronto has indicted that children should not be forced to wear the masks. Masks are dehumanizing and particularly harmful in a learning situation. May be authorities had good intentions initially, but things have turned sinister. I see no escape from excessive government control.

    Wuhan flu has not been contained in Red China. All that has happened is that reliable testing and case reporting ceased months ago.

    If you are a young Chinaman and complain of COVID-19 symptoms, you are given two aspirin and ordered to stop spreading rumours if you know what’s good for you.

    If you are old, you are taken to an isolation ward to be put down on the spot.

    By May and June, when the supposed study took place, Chinamen had been well trained to go along with the “American flu” narrative.

  11. So, just wondering, how would we know if the COVID vaccine doesn’t have any long term side effects – things that they could not possibly have figured out in the brief time it’s been tested?
    For all we know it could be rendering men sterile or causing early onset Parkinson’s. If a vaccine can cause narcolepsy, it’s not out of the question.

    Under Marxist Medicine, you quarantine both the healthy and the sick and thus maximize the harm (cure being worse than the disease) and suppress searching for therapeutics. Vaccination doesn’t not end the restrictions because it’s efficacy and safety have not been proven, as yet. (precautionary principle=fear)

    Note- Pfizer’s vaccine has not been tested on those under 16, nor tested for it’s effect on fertility, also, the full range of side effects will take a year or two or longer to emerge.
