Sports fans exist across the political spectrum and it is a rare context in which people can be brought together. In this case, it is another example of an agency (NFL, players) exploiting the racial divide. In my view, the social problem in the US is not Trump (he is a symptom), but rather the extreme divisiveness across the country which plays out to some degree as a racial divide, but it is also agitating leftists and the media pursuing a destructive agenda. The silent majority watch on the side-lines with increasing dismay. The NFL protests seeks to draw them in. It is creating anger and upheaval while accomplishing nothing to solve problems related to race.
