    If you want to understand the impact of climate change polices on ordinary Canadians and how detached our political leaders are from what they are doing by imposing them, think of this every time they say “carbon pricing.”
    Think of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flying in on the Aga Khan’s helicopter to the billionaire’s private island in the Bahamas, part of his greenhouse-gas spewing winter holiday with his family and Liberal friends.
    Then think of him returning to Canada to hear a tearful mother and grandmother on his “meet the people” damage control tour in Peterborough Friday tell him her skyrocketing electricity and fuel bills have driven her into energy poverty.
    This even though, partially disabled, she said she works 15 hours a day and makes almost $50,000 a year.
    That, in a nutshell, is the issue, because it suggests Trudeau doesn’t think he has to change his lifestyle to fight climate change, but ordinary Canadians do.
    This even though the decisions he’s making about carbon pricing and to “phase out” the oilsands as he put it Friday — infuriating many Albertans whose economy is on life support — will change everyone else’s.
    Now think of the rich, globe-trotting gurus of global warming from Al Gore to Leonardo DiCaprio.

  2. More warped news from the CBC. If I got the story right, the activist Lewis was making false claims against Pres. elect Trump by saying that he (Trump) was not legitimately elected. Mr. Trump fought back. Do we really need the CBC to figure that out??? To quote my late father. “Instead of bitching about the state of the nation, why doesn’t [John Lewis] go get a real job?”

  9. Trudeau should be getting around in electric vehicles, bicycle or horse drawn buggy as he goes about pressing the flesh, passing out hugs. This tour highlights the stupidity of their nonsense, it can’t be done.
    When his entourage arrives in Alberta he needs to be asked some real questions and give real answers. The people need to come out in droves and give him their message on behalf of all Canadians. Someone needs to ask why his government approved pipelines when their plan is to phase out the oil sands?
    Governments serious about pollution would never have allowed our rail lines to be torn up in favour of massive trucks rolling down our highways.

  10. Dr. Percival Lowell died on November 14th, 1916. An astronomer of international reputation, Lowell was the founder and Director of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.
    Lowell graduated from Harvard in 1876 and over a 30 year period gained an international reputation as a leading astronomer, receiving the Jansen Medal of the French Astronomical Society in 1904 for his research on Mars and a gold medal in 1908 from the Sociedad Astronomica de Mexico. He was appointed non-resident Professor of Astronomy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1902 and was a member of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the French Astronomical Society, the American Philosophical Society, the National and American Geographical Societies and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
    Lowell is most noted for his discovery of life on Mars and the presence of water there, specifically the large irrigation channels that he called canals of which he discovered over 500.
    In 1910 Lowell discovered the largest water canal on Mars at over 1,000 miles long. Later that year he lectured at the Royal Institute of London and the Association Astronomique of Paris, where his theories created wide interest, but left many unconvinced.

  12. I detest these PBS documentaries. It’s not that they are necessarily inaccurate but rather that they are selective in their facts and use music to embellish the narrative …. which is ultimately a negative one.
    The U.S.- Mexican war was actually a very tiny war. It’s my recollection that the actual number of U.S. troops involved was less than 10,000. (from reading, I’m not THAT old).
    And Mexico could hardly be called a country in those times. It was a huge land mass populated by scattered Indian tribes who did not know they were really Mexicans…. and didn’t care either. Mexico was, and still remains, a a failing corrupt country run by aristocrats for their own gain. That’s why it’s such a basket case even today.
    Note that less than fifteen years after this dinky war, Mexico was overrun by French troops in 1861 aiming to establish a European king there. The U.S. threatened war with the French because they had established a poser, Maximillian, as ruler in Mexico. As a result, the U.S. reestablished Mexico as a “democracy” in 1866. (they had to wait a few years in order to finish their own little dust up called the Civil War where upwards of 400,000 troops were involved and casualties in some battles amounted to 20,000 or more).
    In any case, I don’t watch PBS.

    Note how that statement is not inconsistent with approving pipelines to ship our oilsand dilbit to other countries. He only wants Canadians to stop our dependence on fossil fuels.
    According to LIB policy once those fossil fuels leave Canadian borders the embodied CO2 or toxic components are no longer Canada’s problem… they’re exported to the ‘peeing end’ of the pool and Le Dauphin Petite Pomme de Terre has declared Canada as the ‘no-peeing end’ of the pool. That fuzzy-logic probably makes sense to Lieberal relativistic reality.
    Le Dauphin Petite Pomme de Terre is a drama student/teacher, he’s playing a part he was raised from a child to play. He’s PMButt’s meat puppet; treat him accordingly. There’s no point blaming him for playing the part he is given by his NWO masters.

    If I listened to O’Leary’s financial advice last year and sold, I would have foregone a $50K asset appreciation.
    Given his impulsiveness, just how good can his economic & political advice be?

  34. Yesterday a 33-year-old Muslim migrant to Canada, Walid Mustafa Chalhoub, was convicted of 24 charges of sexual assault and extortion against ten teenaged girls in Montreal. He pled guilty yesterday, part-way through his trial.
    Chalhoub would find teenaged white girls, get them drunk and high, have sex with them and film it. Then he’d threaten to expose them, unless they paid him money, or had more sex with him.
    One 16-year-old victim testified: “He said he could set my house on fire, to think of my family, that he was part of the Mafia.”
    … Convicted, 11 year sentence. But of course, under our laws, he’ll be out on day parole in less than two years.
    This is Rotherham style rape slavery, and it’s now in Canada.
    Did you hear about it in the news? On the CBC’s National? On CTV? The Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Toronto Star?
    This is the most shocking crime I have read about in Canada in a year. And yet there’s a media blackout about it.
    And 50,000 more Syrian migrants are being fast-tracked into Canada, without a single question about their views of women, or infidels, or violence or sharia law…
