  2. Perhaps, but not for a lack of trying. And one wonders what the number would look like had law enforcement not been monitoring the radical Muslim connection. And I notice that the shootings of cops are not in the mix….or at least only those perpetuated by “antigovernment fanatics”.
    But the fact remains. Had Roof worn a “Che” t-shirt this discussion would not be happening. Do you wear one, John?

    But lets look at this article. It would have us believe that something called “La Raza” is something we should be worried about. That is on par with the Confederate flag. Honestly… I bet you 99% of people have never heard of La Raza. And whatever the hell it is, it is not a symbol that is chained to a pole on the lawn of the State House.

Or the South African flag, or the Rhodesian flag. Or the rhetoric he spouted in his manifesto. Ever. There are plenty of crazies on the far Left, BUT so far very, very few have committed as many acts of violence in North America as the Right.

    Here, let me fix that:
    Since Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 63 times as many people have been killed by radical Muslims than by white supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists: 3,003 have been killed by self-proclaimed jihadists, compared with 48 by extremists who are not Muslim.
    I’d suggest you start your denial engines, John, but it’s clear you’ve had them running for some time now.

    Yeah? And who did that ‘entwining’? What the Confederacy was fighting for was State’s Rights as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
    Specifically the Article X section of the Amendments.

    The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
    The issue that was the final straw which caused the Confederate States to secede was slavery, that is true and the economies of these states were not as industrially advanced as the Union States which sought to impose their will on the Confederate States.
    Simply sweeping slavery away would have had a huge negative impact on the economies of these states and history shows that it did in fact have that negative effect.
    So what does the Confederate flag symbolize to people who live in these states?
    State’s rights, not the imposition or maintenance of slavery.
    Slavery in the U.S. is made out to be a White vs. Black conflict today by people who benefit from identity politics.
    However, before the abolition of slavery in the U.S., there were a large number of Black slave holders.
    George Washington, first American president, was arguably the largest slave holder in American history. Should his face and name be stricken from the U.S. dollar bill and from every public institution and place for the sake of political correct grievance and identity politics?
    Keep following this path, Americans, and one day there will be no more Washington DC or Washington monument or Washington state.

    The Confederate states, now Republican states, were Democrats.
    There was an anti-Civil War movement called the ‘Copperheads’ which were Democrats.
    The Cu Clux Clan(filter blocks the use of ‘K’ here) were Democrats. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.
    Because of these facts, Martin Luther King jr. was a registered Republican.

  14. Well, following John’s link, one sees that the report referenced by the NY Slimes classifies crimes committed by self-declared Nazis as “right-wing” assaults. But most of us here rightfully regard Nazis as just another flavour of totalitarian statists. Nazis and Communists were never polar opposites; they were fellow Socialists, competing for market share. And no rivalry is ever so bitter as that between groups that have essentially the same beliefs.
    And, ironically, Che was one of the biggest racists going. Read some of his writings. Roof probably would have been quite comfortable wearing a Che shirt.

  16. The United States had slavery for 89 years. The Confederacy had slavery for 4 years.
    I am not sure there is any particular reason to believe that the US flag is any freer of blood that the Confederate one. A small minority of Southerners actually owned slaves. The were fighting for self determination. Think Trudeau and the National Energy Program.

    Otherwise your completely wrong about “Right Wing Violence” in the US. By the FBI’s own study (2002 – 2005) most terrorist violence in the US is by Left Wing radicals followed by Latino race and politically based violence.

  23. We don’t have to go as far as eliminating “Old Glory” since we now have already turned the corner. The so called race war being waged has already been officially won. In case no-one has noticed “whitey” is the loser since it is the white employed taxpayer that is paying for the benefits that the underprivileged “_____” (fill in the blank with whatever,Afri-American, Illegal Alien, etc., etc., etc.) now enjoy.     The Mississippi State flag has the Confederate flag embedded within. Should this be banned?
    The Black Panther flag probably seems hateful to many. Should we ban that?
    When Lnyrd Skynyrd comes to Canada to play “Sweet Alabama” do we ban their Confederate flag or refuse them entry?
    How about the Fleurdelisé (Quebec flag)? Isn’t that a symbol of separation? Should Canada ban that?
    And the Dukes of Hazard. Ban Daisy Duke? Because of Roof? Seriously?
    And how about the Newfie flag? The cod fish and a bottle of screech. Surely we don’t ban that?

  36. Dylan Roof is the US’s Gamil Gharbi, a.k.a. Marc Lepine. Lepine’s murders of 14 women are memorialized each year, not as the heinous acts of a madman, but as just one instance of the dominant and pervasive man-culture of hatred of women. Men, not Lepine, are held responsible for those murders. Likewise, Roof’s murders are being transformed before our eyes into just one more manifestation of pervasive, systemic white supremacism. His actions will be memorialized as such.
    I’m afraid that conceding the Confederate battle flag will be taken by the race hustlers, and therefore by the culture at large, as an admission that the flag is and was a symbol of nothing more than white supremacism. To concede that allegation is to succumb to and join with the race hustlers’ gambit.

  37. Funny. Anyway what I meant was that they would throw out these things with Washington’s face and name on them(because he was possibly the biggest slave owner in U.S. history) and name all those things after someone else, maybe even Obama.
    examples: The Obama monument(obelisk) on the D.C. Mall, Obama D.C., Obama State, Obama’s face on the one dollar bill, etc.
    I’m betting you’re thinking fondly of that asteroid again.

Some of them will seek out a cause to excuse their loser status and to justify the violence they wish to employ. They lack the guts and honesty for critical self-examination.     So, I guess what I’m saying is that this has a hell of a lot more to do with “loserism” than racism.
