    Buy ”Made in Canada” or ”Made in USA.” Problem solved.

  2. The enemy within the gates. Is the Cara Tobin who is the Alberta Energy Regulator quoted by the now left wing 630CHED in this article:
    http://www.630ched.com/2015/01/31/fox-creek-earthquake-may-have-been-caused-by-fracking/
    The same Cara Tobin who wrote this article for the Desmog Blog?

    You can’t be a right thinking government if you have such a large left wing bureaucracy.

  3. Ummm, those articles were written by Carol Linnitt of Desmog and only referenced Cara Tobin of the AER(Alberta Energy Regulator).
    All hydrocarbon resources in Alberta are regulated by the AER.

  4. Thanks for the correction. I see my mistake. The Desmog Blog had Cara Tobin in bold letters above the byline which was in much smaller letters. Was this a product of the google search?
    Mea culpa, mea culpa, Mea maxima culpa!

    Are there historical records on how many earthquakes Alberta has in a year? Is there any reason to believe fracking contributes to increased incidence of earth quakes?

  5. I don’t know the number but Alberta has many earthquakes, but not large enough to be felt or worth reporting. As a guy who sends tools down whole before and after the fracking procedures, I would bet money that increased earthquakes is a result of the procedure. Again though, they are small and deep down. The gas pressure released whether it is a fracked well or not, would have been the necessary pressure to keep the formation from collapsing in the first place.
    Like Cara Tobin mentioned, there is no way of knowing.

  6. Thanks Joel;
    I still think it is spurious correlation and irresponsible to link until there is better data. There’s also no way of knowing if it related to increased seismic activity in the Yellowstone calderon.
    In the last 30 days there have been 20 earthquakes within 2 hours of Jasper, Ab. As you say not many of them are not large. But 4.0 earthquakes happen often enough in Alberta.
    Spurious Correlation

  7. Just because I speculate, doesn’t make it true nor does it make it a hazard. I could be simply suggesting that we have a void filled with gas the thickness of a pie plate that runs 30kms long and shifts whether we have penetrated it or not. I will support fracking and have my own opinions whether you agree or not.
