  3. He is General Andrew McNaughton’s grandson. My dad said that the word going around in the Canadian Infantry Association (yup … the CIA!) at a gathering of all the Colonels back in 06 was that he had gotten as far as he had because of his pedigree. But not many thought he was the real deal.

  4. No matter what happens in Israel–Justin Trudeau and the Liberals won’t make a smidgen of difference. The Liberals will live the lie as they always have!

  7. It was an accepted truism when I was in uniform that all generals were political appointees – they even got a new commissioning scroll. Sure, many had good military credentials but others put politics, their connections and their own benefits above those of the troops. Alas for the colonels, they were under scrutiny as potential generals so the highest truly military rank, devoid of political interference, was lieutenant-colonel!
    Leslie has all the earmarks of a purely political general so he should fit right in with the Liberal party. Oh yes, his opinion stinks too..

  9. Israel needs to officially condemn Canadian Liberals, the CBC and the Liberal Party of Canada as a terrorist organization.
    Mosad needs to start arresting them as they did the Nazi’s after WW2.

  11. These various “journalists” are but True Believers, who received incitement rather than education. It’s all they know and they Believe what they Believe in their gut which is how they can never be wrong; it’s a gut thing, as “learned” as anything can be.

  12. i went through officer basic yrs back and heard many strange things(ya I failed any advancement) and like aviator said there is military and there is politics,..

  13. Leslie was my brigade commander years ago. The troops all thought he was a little bit fruity. That trait doesn’t command much respect from combat troops.

  14. Pretty much true as far as my experience in the military goes… most Colonels and above are too busy feathering their nests to worry about the troops.

There are officers above LCol who were apolitical even though their appointments were sanctioned by politicians, notably the Minister of National Defence and his civil service bureaucratic underlings. I believe it was Churchill who said, “The first three months of conflict are the most difficult, that is when you replace all your generals”. Peacetime generals do not have a good track record when the bullets start flying since all too many were deemed politically acceptable.

  18. What about Major-General Lewis MacKenzie. He was fantastic. Of course he has been retired since he early 1990’s.

    Our LCol, a Liberal, was promoted to Colonel and then to Brigadier. This occurred during Trudeau’s reign.

    If they did, Liberal governments would invest more in the military.

  21. Don’t know Leslie and I never will. He might be brave, he might be a yellow rat. He might have earned his rank, or he might have suck-holed his way to the top.
    But I’ll tell you this: he’s a whore if he wants to get in to politics. And he’s a dirty old whore if he’s choosing the Liberal brand.
