  1. I received a call from Supporter Services at the CPC last night, asking me for money again, to help fight the media, and their bias.
I suggested to the caller I would give her an idea that would save the government a (Best Dr. Evil voice here) Beeeeelion dollars, just cut funding to the CBC now. She was flummoxed, and tried to recover, saying there are other media out there also attacking the CPC. I told her, fine, but the others (CTV, Global, etc) aren’t doing it with my tax money. Cut all finding to CBC now, I will consider donating again.

  2. And Liberal supporters on comment boards go on constantly about the incompetence of the Conservatives. Obviously they watch too much CBC and think what they are watching is professional journalism.

  3. If only the rest of the politicians in the Free World had the guts to speak like John Baird does. He shows the rest of them up for the cowards that they are.

  4. And why is CBC importing foreign workers to ask bad questions when a Canadian could ask bad questions equally well?

  5. “And why is CBC importing foreign workers to ask bad questions when a Canadian could ask bad questions equally well?”
The impression I get watching from CBC News these days is that they are running an affirmative action co-op programme in journalism for high school girls.

  6. The CBC should have the tax moneys which are earmarked for advertising the Crown corporation zeroed out and be told that they can still tweet to the world, so it’s all good.

  7. I want to see Suzuki, Strombo, Ghomeshi, as well as Steven and Chris working the phones on Pledge Night during one of those reunion concerts with Parachute Club and the Five Man Electrical Band.

  8. “Advertising?”
“Wrong party and 8 years too late”
“Ask legacy Liberal candidate Jonathan Goldbloom how advertising works, honey”

  9. Expecting better questions from the CBC is like expecting to find gold in the Yukon by moving to Florida.

  10. If CBC thinks that twitter is advertising that probably explains why it can’t get companies to pay for advertising on its stations

  11. BINGO! We have a thread winner!
    CBC needs more disrespect.

  12. That so-called “journalist” got a verbal whack in the mush from a no-nonsense Conservative Cabinet Minister who doesn’t play their games. We need more such responses, there are lots of opportunities given the infestation of agenda driven media twits out to please their anti Conservative bosses.

  13. It’s too bad they cut out the rest of the exchange:
Baird: In fairness, you’re a member of our national broadcaster, we deserve better questions than that.
CBC: My point is that the Conservative party takes public positions on a variety of issues to gain supporters, and that’s a form of advertising.
Baird: (Long pause). I’m not sure what you mean.
CBC: Well, I mean, that’s a form of getting out your supporters.
    Baird: Sorry?
CBC: You’ve been taking positions on various issues, and openly using the House of Commons…and interviews and press conferences, and speeches at the UN, and, you know, things like that, to advertise your positions.
Baird: That’s what governments do. I wouldn’t call that advertising.
CBC: Well, it’s a form of getting out to people, so you’re advertising your position.
Baird: The Liberal party holds positions on a number of issues. Would you call that advertising?
CBC: No, because they’re constantly changing their position.
Baird: Could you tell us your name, please?
CBC: No, we’re not allowed to advertise.
    Baird: I give up.

  14. So liberals toss a coin to decide whether to accuse the Conservatives of having a hidden agenda or to accuse them of advertising their policy.

  15. Walter said: “So liberals toss a coin…”
No, they attack on all fronts simultaneously every day. We only hear about the ones with a bit less wheel spin than usual.
That’s why “tweets are advertising” didn’t make it to the Globe and Mail, but Wafer Gate did.
Way to go John Baird for stomping on the Lefty CBC infobabe. Well hit sir.
And as somebody above remarked, why do we have Australians doing jobs like that at the CBC? I’m sure I could stand there and read stupid questions off a card just as well as that girlie, with the added bonus that I was actually born and raised here in Canaduh.
(Is it racist if a white Canadian calls a white Australian an immigrant? I can’t keep track anymore.)

  16. I want to see Suzuki, Strombo, Ghomeshi, as well as Steven and Chris working the phones on Pledge Night …

… weekly televised Pledge Nights in the spirit of carnival dunk tanks. They’d raise money.

  17. If the cbc is running a coop affirmative action program for high school girls, the liberal party of Canada must have one going as well. Anybody see the ‘copy’ Chrystia Freeland turned out today passing as a ‘big idea’? It was up on Bourque.com this morning.
Written like a grade 9 social paper. C minus bafflegab. She’s a star advisor to jr?

  18. That was great and totally called for.
    About time too.
Hey cbc at least be professional while on the teats of taxpayers funds as you pretentiously feign to not understand how biased, small minded and unprofessional YOU are appearing to be.
Since when does what “tweets” say matter? Small minded juro-crats Good grief I actually cringed at her questions – this is the mindset that applauds at a state funeral yet they consider themselves our betters. They also piped in emails from bbc commenters raving and raging and hating Bush, while they were on strike the last time. Canada wasn’t even in Iraq military wise. How is this not biased? Pretty disgusting to me.
Let a Christian express their views and these cbc types want them jailed, same for anyone being able to even express an opinion of doubt re: CAGW. That’s what Suzuki wants, said so himself.
Mention Islam in any sort of real terms, comment deleted – do they send IP to RCMP?
Honestly, don’t trust them not to. Call me paranoid but part of not voluntarily being on any GOV lists, includes these dudes.
Their denial is like the very intoxicated proclaiming their cold stone sober as they fall down flat to the ground without any other reason, other than they are drunk and smells as bad too.
This enabling of cbc must stop.
Let them eat from tweets and advertising if it’s so important in their world.

  19. Slowly but without stop. Harper is drying up the cash flow to this dried up old socialist cow of public broadcasting. They are belligerent to Canadians, if not a drag on its future.

  20. Baird wins a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Really, why are government members so afraid of the CBC, when doing a smack down of their stupidity is so easy? Just be knowledgable about your subject and able to quote facts or swat their logical fallacies as the occasion demands. A single session at Toastmasters would probably equip the average MP to demolish a CBC “reporter”, while the ambitious could study Winston Churchill for rhetorical tips.

  21. Hats off to John Baird.
RE: Conservative stance on Palestine-Israel conflict. I made a similar comment on CBC.Ca and had my comment deleted by the government sponsored network.
