  1. So… I’m at the young one’s practice chatting with one of the other dads. I bring up Ukraine because I have reason to believe he will have some insight on the matter.
He lays it out like this. Yanukovych is corrupt. Steals everything. There is a big fracking project in Ukraine and he’s stealing from that too. Putin, of course, would like control of this gas.
Who are big investors in the fracking there he asked? Joe Bidens son Hunter, and a Heinz trustee (and advisor to John Kerry) Devon Archer.
They are loosing everything to Yanukovych, so they call daddy and Eureka! Putin saves their bacon. Putin gets the gas, Kerry and Biden get their money. And Ukraine? Neither side actually cares.
    According to my source.

  2. I AM Joe Molnar, aged 82, living in Woodstock Ontario and I AM ready to undertake to walk the breadth of Canada collecting signatures on the petition shown below, but I need a MIRACLE!
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
PETITION TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
    IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED
We, the undersigned citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House to the following: THAT : as individual Citizens of Canada WE do NOT enjoy the protection of “PROPERTY RIGHTS” within the Constitution of Canada ! hence, THE LAW of Canada!
THEREFORE: Your petitioners call upon Parliament to forthwith, incorporate and entrench FOREVER , individual “PROPERTY RIGHTS” INTO THE CONSTITUTION OF CANADA well as amending OR ABOLISHING THE Canadian Senate!!
    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Because, I cannot provide my own mobile camper for us to live in ( which my wife Anna can drive)while I walk across this land gathering millions of signatures from like minded people who want “property rights” enshrined into our Canadian Constitution.
I am quite sane, so this is not a demented old fool blogging, but a serious seeker of help to make this happen (PROPERTY RIGHTS) for Canadians……. FOREVER!!
A modest mobile camper on loan for the duration of my walk….. anyone?
I AM, Joe Molnar, Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.
    Why am I using SDA?
    Because I believe in MIRACLES!

  4. I apologize to our hostess for the length of this post. The following is a copy of an email letter my cousin in Ontario received early this morning from Andrei in Ukraine. The letter sums up all of what is wrong in that country. Andrei is a pastor in a protestant church near Kyiv. My cousin has been in Ukraine on behalf of a Christian organization teaching business entrepreneurial skills.
“What is happening now in our country is a last warning to Ukraine. We have seen with our own eyes the disintegration of our country due to twenty years of pervasive neglect, on every level of society. An army that doesn’t want to fight, tanks that don’t work, police colluding with separatists, border guards letting enemies of the state freely cross our borders, traitor politicians plundering the nation’s wealth with impunity for years on end and now using that wealth to finance war against their own country.
We imagined the Ukrainian state at least possessed a core of vital stability that no corruption could reach and obliterate. We thought we could stand aloof from politics, apart from casting our votes. We believed that “things take care of themselves” and didn’t depend on anything we might try to do. Like Yanukovich, we too supposed that the raiding of the national wealth, which everybody knew was going on, was of negligible impact compared to the inexhaustible supply. So Yanukovich stole, and we allowed it. Which meant we allowed others to steal, too, in a vicious cycle. We really thought it would all work itself out somehow without our taking responsibility for it.
The irresponsibility was so easy. We did nothing and were responsible for nothing. Government and its intrigues were always “not our business.” We were too busy with other things, and we were happy enough just to pass it off to whoever promised us the rosiest future. But now–it has all blown up. The state isn’t infinite, the nation’s resources are disastrously limited and crippled, and it turns out the responsibility for all the years of apathy and neglect… is ours. It turns out that nobody was making decisions for us. There was no law enforcement behind the police uniforms, there was no governance going on behind the cabinet doors. It was all rotten and so it collapsed in a moment. And now we stand alone against external and internal enemies, against criminals and terrorists, renegades and traitors. The state we refused to build and safeguard at the real price it takes, suddenly imploded. What a surprise? No, what a shame.
It seems that only now, for the first time in 23 years of democracy, our eyes have opened to the extent of this catastrophe. Only now are millions of Ukrainians coming to understand what a civil society really is and what it takes to preserve it. Ukrainians are personally supporting a bankrupt army by sending in their contributions via SMS. We finally realize that if there’s going to be money in the budget, we’re the ones who will have to pay. We have realized it very, very late, and the price of freedom now facing us is huge, but “better late than never”! We are achingly conscious now of what happens when you do not take responsibility as a citizen but surrender your rights, and your country, to those who exist only for their own greed and glory.
Destroying the old is not enough. We must create something in its place. We have proved that we can unite. We have a heroic and patriotic people who were not afraid to stand under fire. We have learned to defend ourselves; we have raised 120 million UAH for the army. We are fully capable of sustaining a national movement to build a legitimate, civil state, without the oligarchs and morally bankrupt politicians. We have ideas, people and plans, and money can be raised.
Ukraine needs qualitatively new politicians, not the frauds who have so devastated us; we need new quality controls and hundreds and hundreds of new office managers to take the place of the “apparatchiks” who only served the system. We need the technologies of the future, and we need Ukrainians from the Diaspora, in Canada, the USA and Europe, to come and help us.
History leaves us no choice. Either we create a new political reality or in a couple of years Russian tanks will be rolling through the streets of Kiev.
    God bless Ukraine.
    Andrei
P.S. If my letter help others to understand present situation in Ukraine, you have my permission to re-post it.”

“Hudak’s Ontario Conservatives can easily and legally negate the giveaways the Liberals had lavished on renewables developers
Tim Hudak says the Ontario Conservatives, if elected, will cancel lucrative wind and solar contracts put in place under the Liberals’ green energy program. Can he do so without racking up huge compensation costs?
The answer is yes – if he does it the right way.”

  7. What could be more Canadian than Listening to Corb Lund while sipping a little crown royal maple finish whisky NO ICE ! and maybe later ,stroking a friendly beaver….

  8. Changing the actors without changing the system of majoritarian democracy itself only exacerbates the problem – at best postpones it.
Politics tends to be a very bad reality show, what with actors with prepared scripts waiting in the wings for their turn on the main stage. Unless the producers and their directors are turfed citizens will continue to be exploited and abused

  9. Our CBC Watchdog’s Voice.
Arthur and Poko also to be cut.
““This is very serious stuff. Eighty per cent of Canadians like public broadcasting, and they’re going to be very angry when they hear about this,” said the arm’s-length group’s spokesman, Ian Morrison.”

“Tim Hudak compares cancelled gas plants to Adscam scandal as he accuses Liberals of trying to ‘cover-up’ $1B fiasco”
“A judicial inquiry along the lines of the probe into the federal Liberal sponsorship scandal is needed for Ontario’s $1.1-billion gas-plant debacle, Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak said Thursday.
Campaigning in Ottawa, Hudak said an inquiry is needed to impress on politicians of all political stripes that they must put the public interest ahead of their own political interests.
“The gas plant scandal was one of the biggest scandals in Canada’s history,” Hudak said. “It was an extraordinary betrayal of the trust that taxpayers have that their tax dollars will be respected.”
The provincial Liberal government, under former premier Dalton McGuinty, scrapped a gas plant in Oakville in 2010 and one in Mississauga in the dying days of the last provincial election in 2011 in what the Tories say was an effort to save seats.”

  11. The Ukrainians changed the bad actors when they turfed Yanukovich and his crew and now there are non-establishment leaders in charge. Unfortunately, while they are, according to reports I have seen, honest, the coming election may well see people just as corrupt as Yanukovish stepping in. We will have to wait and see who the people elect or how much corruption is in the electoral system. Some of the western media are painting the current leaders as “fascist”, but this is not what people like Andrei say.
