Renegade Regulator

In this context, I would like to receive the Government of Ontario’s response to the following questions:
1. Does the Province of Ontario believe that private companies can own public law?
2. If public law cannot be privately owned, what is the basis for royalty payments made by the Province to [Canadian Standards Association]?
3. Does the Province of Ontario pay royalties to any other lobby group or private company in exchange for submissions made to any legislative committee or any Provincial Ministry?
4. If there is no basis for royalty payments made by the Province to CSA, will the Province of Ontario commit to an immediate termination of all such payments to CSA and an attempted recovery of past payments made to CSA?
5. Does the Province of Ontario agree that if public law cannot be privately owned, and if dissemination of public law is in the public interest, there is no basis for restricting the private dissemination of public law?

Good for her.

  1. “…an endangered 3-inch fish that is considered an indicator of the health of the surrounding environment.”
More than just the health of the environment, none of which looks very promising.

  2. It’s good to see a leftie on the right (correct) side of an important issue.
    Pass the tequila Sheila.

  3. Not usually a fan of that particular squeaky wheel, but fully support her efforts on this one…

  4. The fact that Ontario taxpayers are on the hook for unethical liberal payoffs to the CSA is just another reason I will never go back to live in Ontario. The stupid in that province is irreversible.

  5. Isn’t the CSA a national organization?
    Does BC pay such royalties?
When did Sheila Copps come out of her liberal coma?

  6. I concur. Even a stopped watch is right twice a day.
My ears still shudder. John Crosbie must still be having nightmares.

  7. Sheila Copps, proving that even Liberal politicians may have limits to the corruption they are willing to countenance…
…when they aren’t getting anything from it.
Still, its rude to look a gift horse in the mouth. Go Sheila!

  8. Finally a politician who gets it.
    Private law = no law.
CSA is a criminal society of A**holes.
The natural progression of bureaucratic thought processes.
Answerable to no one they self aggrandize until they are destroyed.
Fools and Bandits know no limits.
    Control must always be external.
Too bad most of our politicians are of the same species.
    Bad for Canada that is.

  9. Churchill covered this sort of quandary in his famous quote
re the WW2 Nazi attack on Russia:
“If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favourable
.reference to the devil in the House of Commons.”
    .
Sheila Copps is weighing in on a stinking, offensive, situation
    – it’s a good beginning.

  10. So … if a dyed in the wool liberal tool is asking questions about the CSA … does that mean CBC has to report on it?

  11. I didn’t know I had so many small dead fans. On a serious note,as was mentioned in a previous comment, the CSA is a national organization. The federal industry committee is being asked to take a look at what has been going on.
Perhaps your readers could send support for this suggestion along to the Honourable James Moore.
For more info, check out the RestoreCSA.com website.

  12. Apparently Ms. Copps couldn’t do something good without receiving some insults worked in with our compliments. She was ever one to dish it out as much as she took it, to expect otherwise now is to set fair for disappointment.

  13. That’s it? That’s the best you can contribute to a mature discussion of an important issue?
    Thanks for coming out.

  14. Like my Granny used to say.: Give praise where its merited. You want to encourage people to do the right thing.
In this case Sheila Copps is doing the good thing. Her suggestion is not only practical, but as we know on SDA. To get results, you have to work at it, just not bitch.
That means writing what you want done changed, to our Politicians in charge.
Best to be polite as well. Even though it pains you writing to mostly opportunists of any political colour.
At least your not having to converse with MSM journalists. An even lower form of life with a mental virus called Marxism at any cost.
