Not Watching For The Asteroid

Simply inexplicable: Data released Tuesday show CNN shedding 48 percent of total viewers since last November and MSNBC dropping 45 percent. The numbers were even worse in the all important demographic of people aged 25 to 54 as CNN’s ratings dropped 59 percent and MSNBC’s 52 percent.

  1. When you shove your head up Obama’s butt, cover up for him, shill for him, lie for him and invent negative new stories that denigrate Obama’s opposition, you end up stinking up the room as much as Obama does.

  2. Could it be that these nets are being seen have no clothes?
One suspects that once a viewer is lost due to a realization they are twisting the facts, that they never will come back. LEt’s hope this is good news.

  3. Viewership and ratings are of no concern to propaganda outlets like MSNBC and CNN.
Their parent companies will absorb any and all losses as long as their leftist mouth organs keep spreading their talking points.
These talking points are then disseminated throughout all media.
    Viola!
    Mission accomplished.

  4. Not so. The magnitude of the losses in advertising revenue are something no Board of Directors or shareholders meeting can ignore. Dropping half your viewers is equivalent sooner or later to dropping half your ad revenue.
It’s always all about the money.

  5. yeah – people want NEWS. People will even PAY for NEWS. The TV “news”
    personalities are not charming or entertaining (sorry, Carol Off);
they can’t sing, they can’t dance . If they provide no news then they
    will have no viewers.

  6. It’s not just CNN or MSNBC. All mainstream media and news outlets are dying. It’s just that the ones that don’t even pretend to be in the pockets of our masters that will go the way of Scinteia first (assuming the masters can’t be counted on to given them a handout out of the public purse).
Rogers just bought the rights to Hockey Night in Canada because they’ve begun to figure out that in Canada, at any rate, people have sussed that if you have a halfway decent Internet connection, there’s no reason to bother keeping your cable unless you want to watch hockey in real time. Everything else on the box is either propaganda or advertising for rubbish no sane person needs or wants. Even Rogers only keeps CBC in its lineup because Ottawa forces them to.
Gord Tulk: Time was in the Soviet Union that the only section of most newspapers people would read was the sports section, because that was the only part of the paper that they could be reasonably certain wasn’t a pack of lies. That’s a major reason RT broadcasts the actual news of the world normal people have to live in. Russians know the difference between communist propaganda and news.

  7. I’m confident they’re all such dogmatic partisan useful idiots they’ll ride their flaming professional malfeasance wax wings right into the sea ya later.

  8. Much as I dislike the leftstream media, notice the time frame – “since last November”. During a presidential election, all news networks get a major bump, which drops after the election. I recall news stories about a similar decline from 2009.
Liberal news giants are certainly dying, but not by nearly 50% of their viewers a year (sadly).

  9. cgh said: “It’s always all about the money.”
True. However, you are assuming the money in question is coming in to the people who decide how things will go through advertising revenue, and the profitable operation of the company in general.
This assumption may need to be re-examined in the light of what we know about the DemocRat Party and its need for ongoing propaganda from the MSM to stay in power.
If Obama has proven anything at all, it is that America is one good media blitz away from electing anyone President, no matter their policies or how poorly that person will fit the office. Or how weird they are as a human being. ‘Cause Barry is seriously weird.
There’s literally trillions of dollars in government cheese flying around in the USA. How hard would it be for billions of dollars to find its way to loyal media types? If the MSM is the only thing keeping the DemocRats in power, and I think it is, would they shrink from feeding their friends to keep things going?
These are questions that will shortly be answered, as CNN and MSNBC continue to bleed viewers and the NY Times bleeds readers. When it becomes obvious that the companies cannot stay in business given their revenues, corruption becomes the only reasonable explanation. So, we shall see.
Having Hollywood release the Hunger Games this year may end up being a strategic error by the Left, not just a tactical one. As Low Information Voters start noticing that their town is looking a lot like the Hunger Games, and their TV looks like it too, they may well turn on the DemocRats. Like the dog, you can only kick people so many times.

  10. Dick, you have that right about the Russians in the former Soviet Union reading only the sports pages because of the blatant propaganda.
Let us hope the viewer drop off is because of the lies and constant shilling for anything left. However, Fox also had a drop off, although it was quite a bit less than the liberal stations, so it is possible people are tuning into other forms of news or just tuning out.

  11. You also have to remember that Ted Turner doesn’t care if he spends everything he has on his CNN black hole. You can’t fix stupid, and TT eats it in spoonfuls.
No one has to watch. Where the money hits the fan will be when TT kicks, and then a sale of the network will be impacted by the complete lack of viewership. Too bad so sad, not.

  12. The worst of the presstitutes, nauseate even low information viewers.
People have built in BS detectors, it is hard for even the wilfully stupid, to ignore obvious bais and lies.
Hence CBC’s vanishing viewers, when you have to go to the web to check the disinformation from your TV, it is easier to stay on the internet.

  13. When CNN is pulled from airports around the US you’ll know that it’s death is just around the corner. The decline started once they moved operations to NYC and hired all those bobble heads no one can stand.

  14. Fair point, Phantom, but it’s not that easy to shovel a truckload of government money into the MSM lickspittles and not have anyone notice. The one thing the White House does not control is government spending allocations. All too easy, at least in principle, for the House to cut it off.

  15. I have been listening to Megyn Kelly’s new Fox News show on XM radio lately. She has been having a great time hammering Obama and company for the ongoing disaster that is Obamacare. Obama’s “signature achievement” is so pathetic that it is the easiest target ever, but it is still fun. I almost feel sorry for the poor dolts on CNN, MSNBC, etc., who are trying to put lipstick on the Obamacare pig.

  16. So apparently the market for left-wing B.S. has finally collapsed. Well, we all knew it was inevitable.

  17. Government owned bodies never die.
CNN , MSNSB are Democratic propaganda channels. No matter what they will be funded. Just like the CBC.
The rate dropping is because people are sick of hearing the greatness of Socialism, while this form of Liberalism is making them poor.Stealing individual rights, being the real racists while decrying our Civilization. Than extolling the death cult of our age, including Islam.
While trying to make people believe their the cause of vanishing freedoms, a decaying society, plus racism.
I think what’s woke a lot of folks up is a personnel lying kick to the head. by the Muslim socialist himself Obama, taking away any future health benefits, than making them pay twice as much for half as little.
Even the true believers in this puppet messiah can’t hide it any more.
Yet the Media has no shame lying along with the beast.

  18. The likes of MSNBC can lose money no problem. The message must go out.
NBC’s parent company, GE, is reaping billions on things like curly lightbulbs etc. A few million in costs for the “PR” department is factored in.
