  1. The House just voted against Amash’s amendment 205-217. This is essentially a vote against the 4A. Republicans killed it, voting 92-134 against. Dems: 109-84.

  2. Welcome to the “Uber-Stasi” where surveillance is the new normative culture.
NSA = Neue Stasi Allegemeine or “New Stasi Universal” bringing new life to the “Obama-Nation(tm)”
And you thought you left East Germany behind, ha!
    Cheers

  3. So the US had spent hundreds of thousands of live and trillions of dollars to keep the world free from what the US has become. When did the Democrats become the statists? I remember them being about freedom and liberty and now they are bleating fascists. Things are upside down.

  4. The Congressman was right, but he missed the big one. This information collected for national security purposes will not remain restricted to that. Eventually it can and will be used for other purposes in violation of fundamental legal rights stretching back to the Magna Carta.
After all, tax records weren’t supposed to be used for political purposes, and we’ve seen how well that’s worked out.

it ain’t just the dumbocraps, a lot of “conservatives” are bad yapping Snowden, they haven’t a clue what the hell is going on. Even in here we had one idiot muling about ONLY metadata, again, clueless. Ppl don’t understand complex math models, such as being used to collect and collate data. As with HHS so it is with NSA, you don’t need to harass a 90 year old Scottish granny, you target the most likely ones and work from there, but that doesn’t achieve the end results they want, which is POWER, security is just the excuse to collect.

  6. “….it seems some in the GOP don’t understand their opponent…” – This is gross understatement.
The establishment Stupid party doesn’t have a clue what’s happening. They’re so afraid of the personal popularity of Obama that they would rather sacrifice what tenuous future the country might have left just to be seen as playing nicely. The Evil party has them dancing on a string – making the GOP look like idiots with immigration “reform” while Rome burns under more debt than this planet has ever known. Most federal agencies could and should be de-funded immediately and the nation would somehow survive (even thrive) without them.
No one can seriously think that any cooperation with this Administration could amount to anything constructive at the end of the day.

  7. If you think there is any difference in the democrat and republican parties, then you are an ignorant fool.
They are two heads of the same snake.
Why have the repubs been silent on all the travesties in the last several years? It is because they are in on it.
The government is on its way to being our “GOD” and a lot of the low information voters are buying into it.
People, this is the last bastion of freedom on the planet, and the elite are making damn sure we are being suppressed and indoctrinated. I buy long term food and ammunition every week with my excess funds. You should too.

  8. Oh, those “gullible fools” knew what they were doing, OMMAG. Leftists like tyrants. And they like the innumerable bureaucratic jobs a tyrannical Big Government provides for the non-productive like them who can’t make it in competitive, free markets.

  9. “I remember them being about freedom and liberty and now they are bleating fascists.”
Freedom? Liberty? Democrat? Just how many centuries old are you, scar?

  10. Wow, just wow.
    Really?
I get the overlap of writing Obama six times with the 6 shlocking points of Wyden; but referencing The Center for American Progress for any purpose other than condemnation is heresy.
In the us vs. them right vs. left world the NSA is us. It is amazing how effectively the Snowden affair has been utilized as a public opinion battering ram to break down and seize control of what may be the very last conservative department in the U.S. Federal Government. Why anyone cannot see this as an opportunistic siege is beyond me.
Watching libertarians race over to embrace the left on this issue, as they do on drug policy, as they have and will do in the event of a draft, should make people take notice. They have no true conservative nature. In a time where government is too big, regulations are too burdensome, and taxes are too high, they sure seem conservative, but their patriotism is actually for a shallow and self serving confederacy, one where no sacrifice is small enough.
It is interesting to see the word statist occasionally flung around here regarding the idea that, in order to detect terrorist activity, some sacrifices are needed. One should bear in mind that in truth, the libertarian’s final destination is anarchy. With that perspective the intended insult compliments.

  11. the NSA is us
Leave me out of your collectivist delusions.
They have no true conservative nature.
    Thank goodness for that.
their patriotism is actually for a shallow and self serving confederacy, one where no sacrifice is small enough…in order to detect terrorist activity, some sacrifices are needed
    Spoken like a true fascist.

  12. There is a fine balance between civil liberties and legitimate surveillance. What exactly is the nature of the government’s secretive intrusion of others’ lives? If the Russians warn the American authorities about terrorists in their midst and are not heeded, there should be no doubt that the government worries more about the people who put them in power than any threat from within or out. Does one trust the Obama administration on this? There shouldn’t be as the Big Government approach has been one of its goals from the get-go.
Dismantle the watching machine. It is doing the job it shouldn’t do.

  13. From the “related” article by J. Christian Adams: “Alinsky saw social tensions as a necessary circumstance to effective community organizing. Without anger, without the have-nots blaming the haves, it is harder to accumulate power. Alinsky considered the creation of social tensions, or the exploitation of them, as essential to move wealth and power from those who have it to those who don’t.”
If you ever wonder why leftist agitators are always talking about race, this passage provides a big clue. The last thing they want is to have self-confident and productive minorities, because those are the mostly likely to tell “activists” to get stuffed. So they try to find black and other minority individuals who potentially have self-esteem problems, the better to propagandize them with the notion that their personal problems exist because of racism rather than mostly because of their own individual psychology. The reality, though, is that one cannot solve one’s personal problems through political actions.
The dumbing down of the public education system is another deliberate ploy to turn students into adults lacking in self-reliance, so that they will be more susceptible to Marxist claptrap about “class”, and its 20th-century substitute “race”, etc.
I reckon it’s time to dig out the old video on the history of “political correctness” as a branch of Marxism once again:

  14. LAS, heh-heh, don’t flatter yourself. You are and always will be “them“.
Furthermore, the correct word is dichotomy, not delusion, and collectivism there is a non sequitur.
As to the LASt bon mot: Feel free to use words you don’t understand, just realize you look foolish to those that do.

“There is a fine balance between civil liberties and legitimate surveillance.”
There is also a fine line, with bombing and looting Third World countries while propping up there dictators AND leaving our borders WIDE open so that terrorists simply stroll across at will.
Of course most of the damage is done now, any of the US or Canada’s enemies are well placed within our national borders by now.

  16. LAS >
Didn’t you know “never go full retard”.
You go full retard every time LAS.
