Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

OMG. We should have a celebration….
Good news, but won’t help Guy Earle unfortunately.
Federal HRC is still grinding due process down.
“…Good news, but won’t help Guy Earle unfortunately”
Exactly right. This is nothing but a baby step towards freedom of speech in this Country.
The end to a good fight but 5 or ten years too late.
The left are already well on their way to subverting
all large police forces in Canada with shiny new “anti
hate squads” with powers the old kangaroo courts could
only dream about. And guess who gave them this gift.
When the left gives up something so supposedly dear
to their hearts with minimal squawking and histrionics,
be very suspicious, if not afraid as well.
Exactly, but at least this is a step in the right direction for a change.
They did it to give D Slappin’ John a pass.
Some good news in a sea of bad.
News out of the U.S. has been dismal in the past few days:
* the U.S. Supreme Court decision giving gays et al. more “rights” — not by elected officials but by Court fiat
* and the Texas filibuster (Democrat- and Planned Parenthood-led) that ensured no passage of a bill which would ban abortions after 20 weeks and effectively close most abortion clinics in Texas by requiring tighter medical standards for the facilities.(Wouldn’t you think after the Gosnell scandal Texas would want to put into law more and stricter health and safety standards inside abortion clinics?)
Thanks, Kate, for staring the real haters down by this blog.
I haven’t always been happy with the Harper government, especially of late, but kudos to getting this done. This is one of those times where one can say with a straight face that this would *NEVER* have been allowed to happen if the Liberals were still/back in power.
Bill C-304 should cause Provincial Legislatures to re-visit and extinguish their own equivalent legislation.
Guy Earles cryme was committed in the Jurisdiction of the same provincial legal framework as had heard its’ first two – and consecutive – ‘hate speech’ Complaints against Journalist Doug Collins, the latter Complaint upheld in 1999.
The 1999 BCHRT Collins Decision was quite influential, as it overrode whatever previous authority might have been held by ‘Press Councils’, rendering them obsolete, and making Journalists broadly vulnerable to those in search of respondents to hate speech complaints.
Septeguenarian Collins, in absentia during his second Hearing, was sentenced to a $2000 fine, and death by haranguing, for 4 columns over 4 months.
The much younger Guy Earles, in absentia for his only Hearing, was given a fine 9 times greater for a one-night drunken verbrawl, in a bold display of bureaucratic black humour.
BC is currently testing an effort to transition a CHRC Sec 13 Complaint into a Criminal 319 Complaint, with the introduction of Abrams/Warman v. Topham/RadicalPress.
Few journalists have, nor likely will comment on the proceedings, which were triggered in May 2012.
One expects that Mr. Levant is keeping his eye on the ball in this developing legal tragicomedy.
A small, long overdue step in the right direction.
But really how are are judges going to punish Christians for their beliefs now?
These professional busybodies will not give up that easy. They will look for a back door to this, much like they did to gun control. Minding other peoples business is a obsession and they will try to carry on.
“These professional busybodies will not give up that easy.”
PeterJ is 100% correct. And it’s the real difference between the political Right and Left. Look at the 2 recent SCOTUS decisions. The Right lost the one on gay marriage and the Left lost the one on voter ID. The Right today is saying, as it always says after such a defeat, “We lost this one folks, it’s over, the public’s against us on this issue, time to move on,” etc, etc. When did you ever hear anything like that from the Left after a defeat? No, it’s “We shall fight on, the law is wrong so we’ll change it, to the barricades, We Shall Overcome…” Leftists are not braver than conservatives, they don’t believe in things any more strongly than we do… but they fight. And fight. And fight, until they get what they want. They riot in the streets, they mobilize on the Internet, they infiltrate society’s power structures. They are too pig-headed and arrogant to admit they’re wrong about anything, and they’re not hampered by the desire to be polite and civilized. We can look down on them, but unless we start adopting at least some of their tactics we’re never really going to get anywhere.
Bravo Ellie, I agree with your post completely. I was furious when the “conservative” party rolled over & played dead on the gay marraige issue. — Why? Because some gutless MPs didn’t want to be called “homophobe”.
They lacked the simple balls to say, “I don’t agree with this on a gut level and most of my constituents don’t either so I’m against SSM.”
As far as the SCOC decisions? There are no conservative victories with the SCOC.
The judges simply wait for a few years before enacting their agenda.
Remember the parents spanking their children case? Spanking stayed legal by ONE VOTE – hardly a landslide win. The SCOC knows that there is only so much left wing social engineering sh** they can ram down the public’s throat before there is a backlash. So they avoid a backlash by throwing the cons a bone from time to time.
Make no mistake the SCOC and basically the canadian judiciary as a whole are in bed with the left wing a**holes as far as they can get. They just have to ocassionally make a small token effort to APPEAR impartial.
Absolutely correct and so is PeterJ, as well as the rest of the comments above.
Time for the most offensive posts one can imagine.
Or, just regular posts because anything is offensive if your skin is thin enough.
One rises to the challenge..
This is just a start. The reasons that the totalitarians often win is that they are monomaniacs who, not having anything better to do, expend vast amounts of energy to ensure that they eliminate “oppression” of certain favored groups.
One of the most loathsome groups in this regard are queers. As a Libertarian, I couldn’t give a rats ass about what people do in their private lives, but I do have a very strong interest about what queers and other totalitarian groups do in their public lives, especially if it affects my liberties. Where I live now there are essentially no homosexuals, or at least none that make flagrant displays of homosexuality in public. They’ve been beaten up enough that they’ve all moved to the W. End of Vancouver. This is their right to do even though I think that’s totally destroyed the nice environment which was downtown Vancouver 35 years ago. What the queers don’t have a right to do is to cause laws to be enacted that affect me in one of the moonbat free areas of BC. Recently the BC government has proposed universal HIV testing which is a manifestation of the idea that heterosexuals are just as likely to contract HIV as homosexuals. Considering that 99% of HIV+ patients are homosexuals and where I live seems to have 1970’s views on sexuality with one of the highest levels of chlamydia infection I’ve ever seen, one would expect that under the queer ideology of HIV transmission I’d be diagnosing HIV routinely. Haven’t diagnosed a single case of HIV here and doubt that I will among the heterosexual population.
It’s nice to know that I can now publish comments under my own name which point out the 3x higher incidence of Axis I psychiatric disorders among queers and the very high prevalence of borderline personality disorder in this population group. Borderline Personality disorder patients are so annoying that there have been recommendations made that an average general practice should have no more than 3 such patients. Almost all of the borderlines I’ve seen diagnosed in my current practice are female and it struck me as curious why there should be such a preponderance of female borderlines. When I thought back to my Vancouver practice, many of the queers exhibited classic borderline behavior, and a bit of medline research indicated that male borderlines are very often homosexual.
So, the early psychiatrists who proposed treatment of homosexuality were correct because, as a group, queers have the highest level of psychopathology of any subgroup of humanity that I know of. One of the attributes of borderline personality disorder is a pattern of intense and unstable personal relationships as well as impulsive behavior which why Svend Robinson’s stealing of a ring is looked at as normal by queers. This is why the concept of queer marriage, at least for male homosexuals, is simply idiotic unless one is interested in enriching divorce lawyers. Curiously, lesbian couples are far more stable and, in my experience, don’t exhibit an excess of borderline traits.
So, the “gay lifestyle” is a public expression of DSMIV psychopathology and we’re supposed to accept this unquestionably. Now that S13 is history I expect that a lot more physicians who, like myself have grave concerns about the forced normalization of psychopathology for this group, will come out and start questioning why queers can get away with actions which for heterosexuals would result in psychiatric hospitalization.
Will the malicious psycocrats and bottom feeders who destroyed lives by abusing the intent of section 13 now be held accountable? I’ll reserve my celebrating for the day they are marched into a court of Queen’s Bench to answer for their anti free speech pogrom.
Thanks for that lowdown on the gay “lifestyle,” Loki. ‘No surprise. Even though your descriptions and data are accurate, you know you’ll still be called names because what I’ve noticed about 99% of gays I’ve known is how immature and stuck in either toddlerhood or adolescence they are. They seem incapable of discerning “the principle” of any issue or of allowing for individual differences — such as it’s your right to hold the views you do which happen to disagree with mine — and are interested only in their tiny, little lives — and pushing them on the rest of us, as though we all should applaud their lifestyle which frequently results in life-threatening diseases (which we all, as taxpayers, have to pay for).
IOW, most gays I’ve known never grow up.
(PS — Why the high rate of chlamydia infection?)
Chlamydia is also prevalent in sheep…so draw your conclusions.
Bill has now officially received Royal Assent
“This is why the concept of queer marriage, at least for male homosexuals, is simply idiotic unless one is interested in enriching divorce lawyers. Curiously, lesbian couples are far more stable and, in my experience, don’t exhibit an excess of borderline traits.”
I don’t know the accuracy of this but it goes against conventional wisdom and so it stuck in my mind at the time….
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/06/the-gay-guide-to-wedded-bliss/309317/?single_page=true
“Intriguingly, in Norway and Sweden, where registered partnerships for same-sex couples have been in place for about two decades (full-fledged marriage was introduced several years ago), research has found that lesbians are twice as likely as gay men to split up.”
batb, the chlamydia is as a result of lack of use of condoms and 1970’s attitudes to sexuality. It also indicates that the HIV fear mongers haven’t been very influential in this population. In Vancouver I would diagnose 2 cases of chlamydia in a bad year whereas I will often diagnose 2 new cases of chlamydia during a 4 hour walkin shift now. In Vancouver, heterosexuals were so terrified of getting HIV that many simply stopped having any sex. My suggestion of having a “Chlamydia capital of Canada” sign put up on the highways coming into town haven’t been well received.
It also indicates that one has a fairly young sexually active population. The HIV fear mongers model would imply that I should be seeing lots of HIV but even though I initially ran HIV tests on everyone diagnosed with Chlamydia they all came back negative. Fortunately chlamydia is very treatable although it can cause fallopian tube scarring in women and thus ectopic pregnancies as a result.
Psychobabble aside (psychiatry is not science), there is an easy explanation for the psychological problems of gays and that is the isolation and bullying they experienced in their youth.
Alright.
There once was a man named Enis…
I forgot the rest.
There once was a person named LAS.. who liked ___ ______ in their ___ …
LAS:
Psychiatrists are MDs, psychologists aren’t. Psychiatry at least tries (tried) to resemble a science. But it’s good of you to easily explain things for everyone. I guess what’s really needed is some strong libertarian anti-bullying legislation combined with mandatory homosexual normalization curriculum in public shcools.
” there is an easy explanation for the psychological problems….”
Being gay and having psychological problems is rather redundant isn’t it? The normal brain rejects homosexuality as being natural. Approx. 3 % have some wiring crossed. I can accept that but certainly can’t see a reason to celebrate it. It’s the loud and proud that turns a lot of people off. Proud of what ? Proud of a mental disability is hardly a reason to celebrate.
Thanks for bringing up that point LAS; not something I’ve looked into. One of the things that is associated with female borderline personality disorder is a history of childhood sexual abuse. Something I don’t ask about unless the woman brings it up. I happen to disagree with some of my psychiatrist colleagues who believe that one should explore these events whereas my view is that they happened in the distant past and that reliving past traumas just makes patients better at spouting psychobabble and no better.
So, until you commented I hadn’t considered the possibility that homosexuals might be created through the sexual abuse of boys by men. In female borderlines, it’s almost invariably a father or relative who raped them when they were children. So, if we extend this analogy to homosexuals, then the only way that homosexuals can “reproduce” is for older homosexuals to have sex with young boys. Interesting concept and will go back to the literature to see if there is any equivalent sexual trauma history in male borderlines (who as I noted before are homosexual to a surprising degree).
