  1.    …that the legal rationale for excluding women from registering for the draft is gone.
Ahhhhh, those unintended consequences.   They sure could bite one in the @ss, could they not?
Repeat after me, Zero, Zero, Zero!
    .

  2. Amazing how no one was able to stop the poster child for the most incompetent of all socialist states from being able to create a nuclear bomb.

  3. As long as they don’t lower the bar like the RCMP and police forces did, this will at least make the alpha lesbians happy. As Jean Kerr once said, “The only reason they say women and children first is to test the strength of the lifeboats”. Equality means no special treatment when it comes to meat for the grinder. Front line troops always know who the weaklings are in their ranks. That can be male or female. If women are as competent as the males then more power to them. If not, then they will get a rude awakening, because the one thing you wont find on the front lines is political correctness.

  4. North Korea says, “Settling accounts with the US needs to be done with force, not with words,”
    Agreed, what’s holding US back?

  5. Many researchers after examining how women performed in combat positions [Israel & Russia] came to the same conclusion. They noted that the effectiveness of the combat unit was in jeopardy because of women. Men became overprotective of women and jeopardized the safety of the unit by taking unnecessary risks to protect women from danger (Harvard International Review, 1992, p. 58)

  6. Just wait until Al-Quaida jihadis capture a U.S. female soldier alive and offers to trade her for the Blind Sheik or behead her live on the internet.
Or even if dead, they’ll hang her body from a tree or drag it behind their motorcycles and post it on the internet.
Did the women who just elected Obama have this, or the draft, in mind when they marked their ballot?
Has this move, in the eyes of Sharia Law just made all adult American females legal targets for jihadis?
If the next Fort Hood style jihadi attack focuses on female soldiers…
The Sunni jurisprudence will surely be quoted at the appropriate time.
American women best keep their AR-15 semi-auto rifles handy with full magazines. And keep their shooting skills up to date, (A well regulated militia…).

  7. @Larry,
Or maybe some crazy broad will go getting her legs blown off. Then how would she feel? Go run off cryin’ probably.
She certainly wouldn’t go off and run for Congress or somethin’. Oh, wait.

See how that works? Female soldiers are a whole lot tougher than the likes of you.

  8. First Women lost the right to stay at home to raise their children unless rich.
To be forced into the work force.
Than came the right to be mens competitors not complements of living life.
Than came the so called right to kill their own babies to fulfill an agenda of the haters of humanity if not eugenics buffs.
Now will come the right to be conscripted.
The next phase is to lose all control of child rearing taken over by the State for perverts by sexualized schools.
Yeah these are real affirmative rights.

  9. “Pssssst…That guy in the trench over there said those combat pants make your ass look fat.”
    Home by Christmas. 🙂

  10. I’m a woman and I think this is crazy.
It’s another nail in the U.S. of A.’s coffin: Military men will die defending their female colleagues and the bad guys will get in because the focus of the military will swivel to “equal rights” and all of the sexual assault cases brought by female combatants against their male counterparts. Obama’s on a rampage with seemingly no one to stop him.
    Kyrie eleison.
We’re watching a bloody train wreck in the U.S.. It’s surreal. Women in combat is more than just “equality for women.” It’s part of Obama’s plan to ruin the U.S., to throw it into complete turmoil, thus promoting his socialist agenda.

  11. I have read a couple of articles about this and since non of the journalists understand military stuff I am a bit confused. I don’t think this means that women are going to be enlisted in combat arms trades. I think what they have done is decided that women who are cooks clerks and bottle washers can now be assigned to infantry battalions instead of only being assigned to divisional/corps level units. Since we (Canadians) started allowing women in combat trades 10 odd years ago, we passed this millstone (maybe typo, maybe not) a decade ago.

  12. Enemies in battle will have a new game – to capture US female troops live and, well, you undestand ….

  13. That would be the Chimp in Chief, WalterF. And before him, Shrub II. The US hasn’t had a real leader since January of 1989.

  14. If affirmative action is ever right, it is now right to staff the combat arms exclusively with women, for many generations (not necessarily conscripting them, but conscripting them if necessary.)

  15. And by removing any reason for excluding women from the draft the left has guaranteed that there will never ever be another draft – that’s what’s behind this.

  16. Everything the Obama administration does leads to bigger social welfare programs and this decision is no exception.

  17. North Korea planning a third nuclear test? Ha, another victory for Obama’s foreign policy! take that, h8ters! Another such victory and the the west will be undone.

  18. I can’t believe I’m arguing for war here, but come on guys. Women can handle this. Any woman who signs on for a combat role will fully realize what she’s getting herself into, and that rape is a strong possibility if captured. The whole point of having an equal rights movement is that they be allowed to assess and take that risk for themselves.
None of you, not one, has the right to whine about the “nannie state” if you are willing to sit there and say, “sorry honey, this is for you own good. We don’t want your sweet buns raped now, do we?”

  19. I was in the army 4 years and worked on a loading dock and I know what this means. The men will now have to do their work and half the woman. When I observed men working with men, they expect and try to give an equal amount of work. When men work with women, the men will take up the slack if the woman can’t or won’t. I have done this myself. To see the difference between the strength between men and women, go to a 10K road race. The best women will be several minutes behind the best men. I am not saying they will not do their best. Its just their best, as in a road race, can never be as good as a man. Solders still have to run and take “the hill” and if half your unit is still running up the hill, solder, both men and women, will die.

  20. There was much commentary, favorable commentary, on female soldiers with the Canadian forces in Afstan. Wonderful – terrific – shows such and such about the patriarchy. Then some poor girl got her head blown off. The commentary ceased.
Feminism was first sold to men as an egalitarianism – that for many things other than reproduction, men and women should be treated alike. Well, that idea quickly went the way of the dodo, didn’t it? Nonetheless for many things not related to reproduction, such sex-indifference is a good idea. There are and have been women who excel in mathematics, others who are good on the battlefield, certainly others who have been good fighter pilots, many who are good digging ditches, some who made fearsome pirates, etc. Paying close attention to sex-differences merely leads to a lot of hot air of the well-known sort – “most mathematicians are male but there are a few good females” followed by the usual debate about the [nonexistant] patriarchy.

  21. I have read that Israel has taken women out of combat roles because Arab soldiers won’t surrender to them.

  22. by removing any reason for excluding women from the draft the left has guaranteed that there will never ever be another draft
    Lets hope so!
This is all the same blather blather I heard when gays were allowed to join the military or when women started joining the work force. It was all nonsense then and it is now.
Than came the right to be mens competitors not complements of living life.
Yes, yes that is a right. A woman can be anything she wants.

  23. John said: “I can’t believe I’m arguing for war here, but come on guys.”
Of course you’re arguing for war, you ghast. You’re a liberal. You automatically argue the opposite of anything you perceive a conservative might think or like. There is no thought or logic in you, just a malign urge to attack the people you hate. You will gladly send young women to destruction if you think it will score a political point against conservatives and Christians. You’re just that kind of guy.
Then John said: “None of you, not one, has the right to whine about the “nannie state” if you are willing to sit there and say, “sorry honey, this is for you own good.”
That statement has more convolutions than a nest of demented worms. One of the pillars of Conservatism is the nuclear family, and the role of Motherhood and Fatherhood in maintaining the family. To the considerable extent that government acts against the continuity of family and parenting, we oppose it. Women in combat is an excellent way to destroy a whole generation of mothers. Its a bad idea. We oppose it.
Another pillar of Conservatism is tradition, particularly military tradition. In Western civilization, since the time of the Greeks, women do not fight in war unless all else has failed, and all the men are dead. Historically, from the time of the Sumerians and in all cultures across the world… women do not fight in war. Men fight. The reasons are manifold. Some are obvious, some not.
Against the reality of human nature and the weight of history John, you pit the feeble canard of -your- “equal rights movement”. You claim that unless we have a military that puts women in harm’s way with the men we are hypocrites. Women can’t be equal before the law until they fight and die in war.
I never signed on to the “equal rights movement” John. Because equality for women before the law was established a long time ago, and what you call “equal rights” is just code for bashing anybody who doesn’t agree with you.
Still, the best way to punish a Leftist is to give him what he wants. Obama is giving you your wet dream John. Women in front-line combat. Against the Taliban.
Women will die on YouTube. Men will die protecting them. Taliban will die in payback atrocities that disciplined US troops would never pursue, but that men in the grip of rage and grief will embrace with both arms.
It will be a disaster. It will damage the US military. It will damage America as a country, the same way WWI damaged France. There may be rebellions and civil catastrophe over it, particularly if the insane Left institute a draft.
And it will all be on -you-, John. You liberals. You voted for it, you agitated for it, and now you’ve gotten it. You are the dog that chased the car and caught it. Enjoy having your @ss run over by history, John. Too bad so many are going to suffer just so you can learn.

  24. LAS predictably chimed in: “Yes, yes that is a right. A woman can be anything she wants.”
Including a corpse dragged behind a motorcycle?
I’ve met maybe three or four women in my life who are taller than me. So as a general rule, a woman can be anything she wants except taller than The Phantom.
LAS, I want you to count up the number of women you know who could kick your @ss in a bar fight. I’m over 50 and in not awesome shape, but quite frankly I don’t know any women who could reliably take me. There probably is some freakin’ six foot-six amazon cage fighter out there who could twist me in half… but I’ve never met her.
Women in combat voluntarily are unicorns the same as women who are mechanics voluntarily. They are said to exist, we read about them occasionally, but no one we know has ever seen one in real life.
Wars are meant to be -won-. Are unicorns a winning strategy? No. They are not.
So to you I say read what I said to John, and then multiply by two.

  25. I’m not a chauvanist but a realist.
I recall the “Viet Nam Experience”.
Lotsa draftees and lotsa enlistees….WW2 Vets referred to draftees/conscripts as “zombies” for good reason.
Lefties NEVER enlist in the infantry.
I recall lotsa assaults where ya swept across a road or something and guys got hit….yelled a lot…but the rest swept on and left the fallen to the medics….seeking to neutralize the fire…rather than remaining exposed and futily become another casualty….protocol that saves lives.
Somehow I cannot imagine guys leaving a screaming woman in the road….but I can see a cluster of bodies about that female casualty….
    Tain’t right, tain’t wrong….just is.

  26. The UN Security Council condemns North Korea for rocket testing? The utter twaddle of morons. It is much like the “debate” over owning persons owning individual weapons. Possession is nothing, intention is everything. The problem with North Korea and Iran possessing nuclear weapons and delivery systems is not with the possession but with their stated intentions of using them.
After the betrayal of Muammar Ghaddafi and Libya, it is evident that every country which values its independence needs nukes. Canada needs nukes, and the sooner we get a program under way the better. Germany and Japan need nukes. Saudi Arabia needs nukes.
So you don’t like this brutal and fearsome new world that is coming into being? Neither do I. But it is the New World which that Foulness in Washington has set upon us.

  27. “One of the reasons I so like being a libertarian is to get away from this misogynistic crap.”
    Posted by: LAS
So you keep coming back here?

  28. The Phantom and sasquatch say it well. Never mind front line combat, during WW II, in eastern Europe, female auxiliaries of various sorts in the both the Red Army and Wehrmacht did not fare well when captured.

  29. Put all the feminist liberal women on the front lines they will make good breeding stock and sex slaves for there captures!!!

  30. LAS, this petulant teen-ager crap you and John spout is wearing quite thin. One has wade through the smugness of any reply you give. You can beat the “girl power” drum all you want but the demands of the job will not change. Being an infantryman is -one hardly needs to say- a difficult and demanding job. If you cannot do it physically or mentally, then you cannot do it at all. Panetta’s move is strictly a political one and one, I suspect, will bite him in the @$$ when one of the “sisterhood” gets captured and killed in an unspeakable way by a towel-wearing moron who gets his jollies throwing acid in schoolgirls’ faces. The US doesn’t have a need for a civilian army the way Israel does or mandatory army service the way South Korea does. Expanding women’s roles is hardly necessary and I think diminishes the service that some women already do.
But don’t take MY word for it:
    http://www.mca-marines.org/gazette/article/get-over-it-we-are-not-all-created-equal
As for North Korea, this is the same dance over and over. Rest assured that if the Chinese and Russian-backed North Korea ever does attack South Korea, the women will be shown no quarter (save, perhaps, the ajummas).

  31. MOST women are liberals or soft conservatives (emotionalists), I realy wouldn’t want a liberals
or socialist male in my trench, soooooo…….
