[I]t tells you something about the culture in which we live that in some quarters those who routinely champion abortion, even partial-birth abortion, are viewed as enlightened and morally sophisticated while those grieving the loss of their son, whom they took home for a night before burying, are mercilessly mocked.

Good for Santorum.
However regarding the statement “alan-is-a-very-good-person-at-heart” I would say that this assumes facts not in evidence.
If the Santorums had not carried their baby to term and gone ahead with an abortion they still would have been smeared by the MSM. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
Who cares? Let’s talk about things that matter. If you’re getting an abortion, you’re probably a liberal anyway. Liberal parent = waste of life dipper baby.
I’ve known of people who have had dignified burials — with a cemetary plot and a headstone — even for miscarriages.
For you “Stockholme syndrome” Nazi-admiring “holocaust victims” out there such as Henry Morganthaler, it’s called deep respect for human life. Surely if you can show that kind of respect for a dead pet kitten…need I say more?
I’m as offended by the anti-Protestant remarks so let’s knock it off. Listening to Michael Coren last night was as much as I can take of RC pride.
Now, to Alan Colmes. He thought it his business to comment on the Santorums decision re their baby, but yesterday I heard him say that anything two consenting adults is no one’s business, and certainly not his. The final and most telling remark was about incest and how he wouldn’t judge as it wasn’t any of his business.
No one is quite as hypocritical as a leftist, but there is something pecularly disgusting about Colmes.
His decision to have a facelift that makes him resemble a serpent could be quite telling 😉
gellen: “I’m as offended by the anti-Protestant remarks so let’s knock it off.”
When you say, “so let’s knock it off,” gellen, I hope you mean let’s knock off dumping on people of the Christian faith, either Catholic or Protestant.
To dump on Santorum because he’s Catholic is the same as dumping on Obama ’cause he’s black. I dump on Obam-bam a lot, but it has nothing to do with his colour. If people want to criticize Rick Santorum’s policies, go for it, but don’t use his Catholicism as a pretext for calling him “weird” and “crazy.” (Of course, what else would you expect from a born-and-bred, liberal Noo Yawkah?)
batb, my hat goes off for you today. Your posts here (especially the 11:45) have expressed my feelings and sentiments better and more eloquently than I could have. Thank you.
Re antelope’s comment: “cannonize” is what conservatives wanted to do to Jack Layton;
“canonize” is roughly what the Left are trying to do to him;
although as they are atheists the concept is alien to them.
The treatment of Santorum shows once again that the Left are evil.
Happy New Year, Texas Canuck! — and, I heartily agree with what you said on another thread: TGIF!
batb – Of course that is what I mean.
Can’t believe the comments about Santorum that have arisen out of the grievously stupid comments by Alan Colmes.
Now these equally grievous things about his religious faith.
Coming from Canadians, who don’t have a dog in the race, it is unbelievable.
gellen, I was pretty sure that’s what you meant. I’m always in agreement with your comments. 😉
I don’t really have much time for churches. Not since I was a young boy, really. It always seemed kinda fake to me. And sorry to all you Catholics, but Catholicism always seemed -super- fake. Like a big conglomerate with stained glass.
But given some of the comments here today, I’m leaning more and more toward atheism being the One Big Problem we have in modern society. A guy is considered actively dangerous by a big section of society because he’s Catholic and serious about it? This while we watch OBAMA in action, maxing out the American credit card? They mocked Santorum’s dead child! When have we -ever- seen that done?
You know what? Rick Santorum could be the biggest wanker who ever ran for president, and he’d STILL be better than Barry. Because even if he was a complete dork, his faith would keep him in line.
Barry by contrast has no stops on his ego at all. As we see every damn day.
Well, Phantom, that’s quite an admission.
I used to think everything about churches was irrelevant and hypocritical — that is, until I joined it in an intentional way in my late twenties and then I saw a completely different picture. I realized that I — and everyone else — could be a jerk, a hypocrite, and a weenie but that God forgave and loved us anyway — and that it’s not about me; life’s not just about me.
Sure, there are a lot of jerks, hypocrites, weenies, in the Church — but there are a lot of jerks, hypocrites, and weenies outside the Church, too. At least the jerks, hypocrites, and weenies in the Church are trying to work together to help others. As someone once said, “The Christian Church is the only institution that exists for those outside it.”
batb, problems with authority. 🙂
Still, so long as nobody is getting up my nose about my choices, I’m quite happy to shut up about theirs. Its none of my business what anybody else does if they stay off my porch, so to speak. In this way we keep things polite and reasonable. I have nothing but respect for the people I’ve met that walk their talk, and I try to walk mine.
That’s where these militant atheists and general issue Lefties are starting to earn my wrath. With these guys it isn’t enough that they don’t believe, nobody else is allowed to believe either. “Believe and be destroyed!” is the rule of today. Shades of Mao Tse Tung.
To which there is only one response: “Get off my porch!” Then you rack the shotgun. Chk chk.
Because even if he was a complete dork, his faith would keep him in line.
The problem here is that Santorum thinks it’s his business to keep others in line with his faith and other values by the force of government. He’s exceedingly dangerous.
I hear you, Phantom!
arelibertarianssmarter?, Obama’s not dangerous?
I’ll tell you who’s more dangerous than a man with convictions — even if you disagree with his convictions — it’s a man with no convictions, a hollow man, a man who allows himself to be the Leftards’ puppet because it makes him rich and famous without any accountability.
The Empty Suit, whose personal documents are sealed for the next 25 years, is the really scary guy. What’s he hiding?
Lots.
