Ya, except that isn’t true. Violence of the type done by Breivik, ya, but sometimes it takes violence to overthrow entrenched elites. In that case, it’s called war, not terrorism.
The problem with political violence Louise is that as history so abundantly shows, what ensues is worse than what was rebelled against.
For over half a century the Evil Elites of the West have systematically brought tyranny to the people they rule over through immigration, and Multicultural propaganda which has led to an endless maelstrom of rape, robbery, assault, and murder. To top it off these evil elites also institute Hate-Crimes legislation to silence those who speak out against their tyranny.
Are the Evil Elite and their children affected by any of this? Of course not! They’re protected and hidden away in gated communities and private schools. In other words for half a century the Evil Elites of the West have forced policies that they insulate themselves from.
The hands of this Evil Elite are dripping with the blood of their people from the assaults, rapes, and murders they have unleashed. The lives of countless families have been shattered because of the policies shoved down their people’s throats. Why should I shed one fucking tear when they finally get a taste of what they’ve unleashed? Sorry: my tears are reserved for the people whose lives have been shattered by the policies of the Evil Elite not the Evil Elite themselves. To paraphrase Marie Antoinette, “Let them eat lead.”
As Hunter has pointed out, Anders Behring Breivik didn’t simply pull off some Columbine-style massacre of teenagers for the hell of it (as much as many are making it out to be) but an attack on the next generation of traitors for Norway’s government. They weren’t attending a Salute Your Shorts Camp Anawanna but the training camp of 16-22 year olds for Norway’s ruling Multicult-loving Leftist party. In other worlds he hit them where it hurt most: the training ground for their hand-picked successors. http://chechar.wordpress.com/2011/07/25/william-rome-on-the-norway-incident/
I agree, Louise. I watched this at Blazing Cat Fur the other day and recall being taken aback when Condell—of all people—said (as I recall) “Violence is never the answer,” or words to that effect. Condell’s usually pretty savvy, but, as you say, in the case of war, violence is sometimes—most regrettably—the only answer.
In the case of the jihadists, who are altogether happy to use violence to overthrow “the decadent West” (they do have a point there), it seems that war on our own ground might be necessary, unless we want to surrender peacefully to hell on earth—our free countries turned into sharia law concentration camps.
Maybe once our coddled “youts” realize that their beer and bikinis are about to be disallowed, maybe they’ll agree to set aside the phony “where have all the flowers gone” propaganda fed to them by most of our PC institutions, and actually fight to preserve the freedoms they’re used to. Time will tell . . .
I had issues with that declaration as well.
Louise and lookout, agreed. I expect that our brainwashed society will not wake up until there will be rivers of blood in the streets. Maybe they will never wake up and instead just roll over and become good little slaves to the mullahs.
As minuteman reported in last nights Reader Tips, Britain appears to be rolling over. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2019547/Islamic-extremists-set-Sharia-law-zones-British-cities.html#ixzz1TLzPUVPC
Instead of listening to Big Ben, Londoners will soon be listening to the call to prayer broadcast all over the city.
Joe, I would respectively suggest that the events of 1776 to the south of us would be one of some exceptions, while the events of October 1917 in St. Petersburg would bear that out.
I suspect that Pat did this to preempt all the lefties flinging dung all around hoping it will stick to any and all public figures that oppose the PC crowds agenda.
Kate’s away, odd, so is Aaron.

In the battle for hearts and minds….violence does not neccessarily win friends but it does influence like nothing else.
If nothing else this regretable event does illuminate the hand that mocks and the hearts that feed….(yeah…I stole that from Shelley).
And, alas yes, things will never be quite the same…..
Violence is always the answer, if you’re asking the right question.
Anders Behring Breivik names Pat Condell as his favorite comedian in his ‘manifesto’ (p. 1407).
Tonight, in a prison cell in Norway, a terrorist is crying.
Haven’t seen the video yet but if I may be allowed a general opinion, violence is the proper and appropriate answer… to Anders Brevik.
Likewise for Muslim terrorists and the assorted Lefty lunatics of history. When they act up, smack ’em.
Otherwise, violence is the -wrong- answer and only screws things up. Take that from an old martial arts student for what its worth.
Ken (Kulak) 10:36 AM: “I suspect that Pat did this to preempt all the lefties flinging dung all around hoping it will stick to any and all public figures that oppose the PC crowds agenda.”
I think Breivik just handed the left a big sh!t sandwich and they’re gobbling it up as though it’s ice cream and cake. Breivik will become a cult hero.
“Violence is never the answer.” Yeah, right. That’s what the American Tory sympathizers told their fellow Americans in 1776. Thankfully, the American majority didn’t buy that, as all peaceful alternatives to defending their freedom had been exhausted.
Violence shouldn’t be the first step but the last resort, after all peaceful, democratic means have been tried and failed. When the Establishment and their lickspittle MSM allies prevent Freedom of Speech and speaking the truth, Europe today vis a vis Islamification being a perfect example, they have gone a long way towards exhausting, or rather preventing, peaceful alternatives. That’s why brave truth-speakers risking their neck, such as Geert Wilders, Mark Steyn, Ezra Levant, must be supported.
For starters, all “Hate Speech” laws should be abolished. They are censorship of free speech. One right in a democracy we DON’T have is the right to not be offended. If Freedom of Speech is to mean anything, it has to mean freedom to speak that which makes some peoples’ blood boil. If any others are offended, let them counter with better ideas in the “Marketplace of Ideas”.
If violence is never the answer, would it have been wrong for an armed police officer on the island to shoot Breivik during his rampage?
Saying violence is never the answer assumes that all situations and all people can be dealt with peacefully and rationally, which is sadly not the case. History, sadly, is full of excellent examples.
As usual one can never apply the word “never” to everything. (Heh)
There is resistance–which sometimes requires violence. If someone is beating you up, I don’t think you’d get too far with your “violence is never the answer”.
There is force–and sometimes the circumstances explain or justify it.
Then there is every other variation of violence, coercion, intimidation, which is used in circumstances that vary from the unbelievably trivial like killing someone for their wallet, to war, to psychopathy.
We have a brain and the ability to reason, and should apply those to discerning the differences between these sorts of violence.
I know what he was trying to achieve. Because people don’t seem inclined to consider nuance and shades of grey, it’s best to give a simple, absolute message. He sees that this act will now be used to try to stifle any meaningful discussion on sensitive issues.
Not one of Condell’s best rants, to be sure. He speaks of how decent people all “hate” the violence perpetrated by the likes of Breivik, and the plethora of islamic suicide bombers, but the fact remains that the latter are regarded as heroes in many islamic communities. Condell really failed to touch on that. It’s what makes us better than them. We deplore inappropriate violence committed by someone supposedly on “our side”, while muslims practically never do, or try to claim “provocation.”
Phantom yes, twenty years at a Club Fed does seem a bit strange punishment for this kind of thing, though if he were in a Islamic nation and killed a 100 Infidels and lived to tell about it, he’d be made a prince of the state not imprisoned.
Why is someone who makes a living as a comedian/satirist a political expert anyway?
That’s the real trouble today, there’s too many experts and not enough expertise.
Can’t we all just get along? (No. Hence, violence.)
Breivik had all kinds of non-violent alternatives to fight his political battle. After all, Norway isn’t a dictatorship (not yet anyway). And either way targetting innocent civilians is never justifiable. The guy was obviously delusional — he thought he was a crusader from the Middle Ages. But I’m sure even crusaders from the Middle ages didn’t simply indiscriminately attack civilians on a camp-out or a picnic. They actually fought armed opponents.
Breivik probably played too much medieval “Warcraft” games on his computer in mom’s basement when he was a kid. He was clearly delusional.
What I got from it was using violence to change society only enlarges the Problem. Best to work throug the system than have civil war. Which is the worst kind of war.
As for real exteranl war, thats a different animal completley.
He is talking about societies internaly.
Thats my take anyway.
JMO
I think Condell was just covering his ass. I’m a bit disappointed in him. He’s playing into the leftie game of taking this incident and painting all Condell-like-minded individuals with a Breivik brush.
I wish Pat were right. If the world were Jacksonian America, he would certainly be right. The citizens of that culture understand the need to resist evil and stand up to wrongdoing.
The hard truth is that vast swaths of society, especially in Europe have engaged in appeasement and “reaching out” to their attackers. Reaching out and appeasement sound like gentle words of tolerance. Now we see the truth. The meaning of those gentle words is that violence works.
Pat Condell lays it out again. Applause.
Louise & Joe at top, have you heard the phrase “Revolutions eat their children”?
ricardo, Norway is a dictatorship .. of the politically correct. It is very difficult to put out in the main-stream media (MSM) a view or opinion that is not acceptabke to the MSM people. It is a de facto intellectual dictatorship.
I usually agree with Condell (except his Christian bashing)and this is another time I have to disagree with his viewpoint on violence.
I must disagree that violence does not solve anything. On the contrary, violence (more specifically, righteous violence or justifiable defensive violence in the form of war or police intervention)has solved every major conflict between oppressed and aggressor since man first picked up a stick to defend himself against the neighboring tribes raids for food and slaves.
Righteous violence stopped Hirohito,Hitler, Attila and the Ottoman Sultans.Daily, defensive violence sends many a lethal criminal attacker to the morgue and subdues many others into custody.
So no Pat, violence IS the answer when dealing with violent people. If Norwegians remembered this lesson of life and history there would be a few more of them alive today.
Ultimately all law and justice is backed by the ready threat of state or police violence. Funny, I never took Condell to be a poofy old peace pansy.

Still not an excuse for a violent “counter-revolution”. You can fight the “intellectual dictatorship” through civil disobedience, or even illegal methods that are generally innocuous. For example, how about an underground Radio station (just purchase an old transmitter, mount it in an enclosed vehicle with a generator and you’ve got a mobile “rebel Radio”!). But that’s the old way of doing it — meanwhile we have the Internet that is practically uncensored, and there’s tons of info on the Net on how to set up your own underground TV station as well. Or you could start an underground printing press and newspaper, etc., etc.
No need to use violence to fight an “intellectual dictatorship”. And what an international embarassment it would be to Norway’s “democracy” if they started arresting people for having to resort to clandestine mass media in order to exercise free speech…
