    Not really. This is the result of breeding….coming from a venerable line of opportunists…..
    Many, many aristocrats adapted to the new political reality at the end of the Russian Revolution…successfully if they were not too prominent in the White hierarchy….
    Stalin purged a whack of these opportunist aristocrats from the government and army in the 30’s. In most cases it was their geneology which condemned them…not any words or actions.
    The surviving Russian aristocracy is only among the emigrees. This article is not so much a repeat of the CPC talking point as a continuation of the Soviet policy of hunting down and killing aristocrats in the west.
    Ignatiev’s people probably fled Britain for the comparitive safety of Canada….to evade Soviet assassins then very active in Britain and western Europe….

    *Liberal Elite Closed Rank (LECR) demands that anyone or any actions not supporting the Ruling Class will be met with one or more of the following:
    – treat as N/A, not applicable (Ignatieff was not a poor immigrant as claimed)
    – opposed by all means posible (Wisconsin death threats).
    – derogatory remarks by media even if going against the pillars of liberal ideology (Maher twat joke).
    – use ‘labor as pawns”.
    – control through fear monger and exaggerated dangers in an effort to render life’s essentials unaffordable to the masses ( Japanese reactor, BP oil spill, climate anxiety,)
    If the above policy sounds strikingly similar to that of kings and Queens and Dictators and Fascists, it is no coincidence.
    Am I wrong? Really, is it that much of a stretch?

    Gordon Campbell “Season 3” and certainly Premier Hockey Mom wears that well, the fear mongering “climate change, HST necessary for ‘services’, the labour pawns (raising minimum wage), Hydro needs a 50% rate increase”, all designed to keep us in fear, that, “This must be done or else!”
    Don’t want to go OT Ron, but, fwiw, sent an e-mail to Coleman, maybe one of the last tough guys, now Minister responsible for Hydro, outlining concerns with the runaway bureaucratic train that Hydro has become, ‘Smart’ Meters, two-tier usage, rate-riders, fees, carbon taxes, etc, that are all government revenue……probably fall on deaf ears with an admin assistant circular filing it…..

Mallick is another poor excuse for a journalist or reporter as demonstrated in her article in the “Red Star” this week. It should be unsettling to watch a group of people lining up to claim their “Darwin Awards” but I must confess I’m enjoying it.

  18. From university days, I knew, slightly, Michael Ignatieff’s father and mother. George Ignatieff was a down to earth, kind, and courteous person. After his public career was over, if one saw him at the grocery store with his wife, a Canadian aristocrat, who was suffering from Alzheimers and lovingly cared for by her husband, one would have not a clue of his lineage or illustrious career. (In winter, he wore a nondescript car coat—even a little scruffy.) It’s a good thing Michael was nowhere around in those difficult days: his brother, Andrew, whom he abandoned at UCC, did all the heavy, behind-the-scenes lifting. Michael would have been mortified, I’m sure, that his parents—BLESS them!—looked like a working class couple in their later years. In my books, this altogether elevates George Ignatieff. (If Michael hadn’t been swanning around in upper class London, he’d probably have insisted on taking his parents to Yorkville to outfit them in the latest fashions: speaking of which, WHAT an EMPTY, IMPECCABLY TAILORED SUIT Michael is! Good Lord, deliver us.)

  23. The problem isn’t that Iggy’s family were aristocratic stuffed shirts or that he still is. You are what you are born. The problem is that, by trying to pass himself off as a descendant of poor Russian immigrants, Iggy exposes himself as a hypocrite and a liar. I wouldn’t want to have a beer with him, and I sure as hell wouldn’t want him for my prime minister.

    I don’t know what the error is, but LCC is a school in Quebec, not anywhere near Toronto. So, if the Ignatieffs were living just north of Toronto, I don’t see how they could possibly have gone to Lower Canada College …

    As for LCC, lookout, I know it’s in Montreal, but the article cited by Susan Delacourt said, quote: “The family eventually settled on a rented farm north of Toronto. The school-age sons were sent to the private prep school, Lower Canada College.”
    If they lived in Toronto, it would be Upper Canada College (which Michael and his brother did attend); if, however, they lived in Montreal, it would be Lower Canada College.
    LOL that Susan Delacourt had no idea that LCC exists and thought the CPC were just being nasty by pointing out that the Ignatieff boys went to LCC. That’s the way her mind works. Twisted, especially when it comes to the CPC and PMSH.

    Christy Clark is replacing many of Campbell’s bureaucrats with people firmly linked to the federal Liberals. When Campbell was first elected, many conservatives supported the BC Liberals partly because it was touted as separate from the federal Liberals and there was no viable provincial Conservative party. Christy Clark supported Dion over Ignatieff, but she has the latter’s cold-blooded opportunist gene, too.
