  1. The high number of name calling in the Windsor responses reveals government bureacracy support has now completely morphed into the automotive/unionist community. Whoops! former automotive/unionist community. Once the public trough is found the hogs will gorge; Cheers;

  2. It worthy of note that without the efforts of a free lance journalist and his girlfriend that the US Census would have been done by ACORN.
The statist elites rely upon the census(adjusted like CRU data) to justify their agendas…..

  3. And look at the caption:
“Former U.S. president George W. Bush, left, and his daughter Jenna, right, chat with business owners in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Aug. 10. Republican Bush and his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, have teamed up to help raise money for victims of the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed an estimated 230,000 people. ”
So in other words: “Bush is doing great things, but we still hate him and will still portray him as an embicile! On our front page, no less!” -CBC.

  4. Simon…wrong thread?
Vander Doelen admits to being “left of center” in the past, but now sees the hypocricy of the left…
There is hope for the MSM journo-lites.
The comments at the Windsor Star reflect the union-Dipper mentality.

  5. Reading through the commentary on such a simple non issue I was shocked (but not surprised) by the insipid Unionist contempt for the taxpayer/citizen.
I have always maintained the public sector unions were the epicenter of the radical left culture war in this nation. I see my suspicions confirmed every time the media offers commentary on the conservative govt. CUPE/CUPW is our version of ACORN.
Frankly, seeing the contempt and elitist malignancy these public sector unionists show for the private sector tax slaves who pay their inflated salaries, I wouldn’t take the trouble to pee in their ear if their brain caught fire. Please go on strike and stay there permanently.

  6. You know. Is there really that many people who gives a rats ass about this census?
Ive never heard anyone discuss it except media &the CBC.
Personally I believe on peoples alarm meter this ranks right up there with a mosquito bite.
This is as exciting, as counting chads.
As about important to folks, as when they will get a hair cut.

  7. “You know. Is there really that many people who gives a rats ass about this census?

    You have it in one.

  8. Revnant Dream, your experience echoes my own. This whole episode is what we would call a Manufactured Crisis. It’s almost as bad as the entire communion wafer affair of a year ago.
You know the left is grasping at straws when they have to manufacture controversy over such a narrowly defined topic.
My guess is that Harper knew the left would react this way, and spin their wheels for weeks on end.

  9. The ONLY purpose of the census is to count heads for defining the number and size of electoral districts. Anything more than that is an intrusion. If the government wants to find out how many Uzbeks are living in Canada they should consult the immigration data that they have already collected (what else do those dilettantes in Foreign Affairs have to do, aside from attending cocktail parties?) The same goes for any other demographic information they claim is necessary. There are plenty of sources where a bit of effort by one or more of the hundreds of thousands of civil servants we pay for could find that information. (Try subscribing to Ancestry.com, for instance). The whole ‘issue’ is a tempest in a teapot stirred up by a few lefties and their MSM minions to make it look as if anyone else really cares.

  10. This always reminds me of my first day in school when the teacher asks, “What is your father’s name? Answ: Daddy. “And what is your mother’s name. Answ: “Mommy.” Then the teacher would ask, “Do you have brothers and sisters.?” The kid would look around and say, “I can’t see them anywhere!”

  11. I recall a family relative getting one of those, and ranting mightily about then.
I was young and stupid and working for the census delivering those things ( nice job when you are about 16) and I told him the obvious answer.
“Fill it with crap.” Seriously, no one doing their job at the census gives a rats derriere what you fill it with, all they do is check the little box that the “form was filled in” thank you very much.
In theory connecting the data back to a real household is even a security violation isn’t it? And even if they did, you could plead your adolescent filled it in as a lark.
I thought the form was ridiculous and intrsive too, but filling out with junk data was entertaining and has basically a low low low percentage chance of getting you in trouble.
And that’s what I told all the nice people who called me all heated up about long form. ” Sir/Madam, I don’t read your form, all I do is check that it was filled in, what you fill it in with is a matter between you and your conscience and what you think the odds are that anyone will ever check. ” There was usually a pause then, and the nice person would thank me me for my insight.
I’m sure I’d have been fired if they knew.

  12. The ‘census issue’ was cleverly developed to distract the public from asking questions about spending $20 billion on stealth fighters made in America, which Canada does not need nor can we afford. We need coastal patrol vessels and aircraft for coastal patrol, firefighting, and SAR, built in Canada which will create jobs for Canadians.

  13. Umm, John Galt, I don’t want stuff built in Canada by Canadians if it isn’t as good as the other option.
I’ve read about John Galt, you aren’t him.
As for what the needs are, I’ll leave that to the Ministry of Defence to decide what they need.
Are you saying that the media was tricked by the Conservatives to waste their time asking about the census instead of a “real” issue? Our media? The CBC? Falling into a trap? If our media didn’t see the aircraft issue as something the public is concerned about, maybe it actually isn’t important to the public.

  14. I’ll tell ya gain, when the last census happened, (2006?) I found out I was in district 666.
my response was a very rude refusal to provide big gubbamint with very personal info and if they wanted to pursue it I would be more than willing.
    I never heard from them.

  15. The Lab Rats won’t cooperate.. The missing data will screw up UN Experimental feed back….No data = no tested (Valid) Social engineering…
The UN will be winging all social initiatives, but they could use a “Mann Rights Model” to predict the probability of total rejection..
    Rats…Rats..Rats…

Heh. Indeed, it’s the reason I suggested in another thread that this fellow change his internet handle.
To John Galt, you asked of me a question in that thread which seems to have been hastily moved into archives, and can no longer be posted on. In any event, you queried how the government legislates the type of light bulb I use. Old news, but in answer to your question:
    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/04/25/lunn-bulbs.html

  17. Yes, this is a load of MFM-manufactured crap. During the G8/20 summit/s I heard people on Toronto’s buses and in a restaurant near where I work bitching about the cost and inconvenience (Why not hold it out in the sticks?) but I haven’t heard one person complaining about the census “issue” anywhere. Real people don’t care even with the MFM trying to get them upset about it.

  18. C’mon!! Would the CBC ever show a photo of the Messiah with a funny, frowned face? In any context? No!!!!

  19. Hey Colin from Mission B.C, nobody really cares if you want to heat your house with inefficient light bulbs, that’s your choice. Fill a whole closet full of them if it makes you feel better. Don’t worry, the ‘light bulb police’ won’t come knocking on your door in 2012 to confiscate your ‘stash’.
Besides, if you heat your house with renewable BC hydroelectricity it doesn’t matter what kind of heater you use.
Big useless governments love to enact useless laws to pander to special interest groups. Most of us ignore them and just get on with our lives without making a big deal of it.

  20. the beaurocraps need the information from the LONG forms to better distribute you tax dollars
couldn’t we just give them less tax dollars to achieve the same goal????

  21. couldn’t we just give them less tax dollars to achieve the same goal?
    Exactly what I do.

  22. Key quote Obama should read:
[Ottawa bureaucrats] could ask how many family members have been badly harmed by the government’s health monopoly (five), or if we’ve ever been mistreated at the hands of our union, or municipal government, or police or border guards.
