Say buh-bye to Canwest as well…
I have watched Red Eye a few times – not for a while though – and it is pretty good. funny in a burnt sort of way if you know what i mean. It would fail miserably in primetime.
It’s true, but the CBC has a non-performance clause: they get paid the same even when no one’s watching.
They get *paid* like they’ve got a lineup full of hit shows – which goes a long way to explaining the smugness and the journalistic malpractice.
Some of Fox News’ morning shows also regularly beat the competition’s prime time line up. But, dang, this is just embarrassing for the folks at CNN, MSNBC, et. al. I personally don’t watch Red Eye, but give them full marks for putting together an obviously successful program in easily the most brutal of time slots.
I watched Red Eye a few times until the host bad mouthed the CND forces because it may not be able to continue operations in Afghanistan nest year. I found the Red Eye point of view as distasteful as Bill Maher’s i.e. not fair or balanced..
Media has a death wish to go along with their Ideology. In this case I approve of this mediums demise.

does this mean the predominant new Fox viewer type is an insomniac? LOL !!!
or perhaps the magic is working: the Fox boys have finally popularized contrived controversy and are creeping into the remaining time slots. after all there are only 24 hours in a day, even if it is a Fox day.
justsaying: here is the crapola mr red eye threw at our Canadian soldiers.
this is the words and behaviour SDA regulars gloat about and support: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtWIPCWJp7c
so go ahead sda gloaters, praise Fox as they shyt all over YOUR country’s military personnel performing a thankless task.
Speaking of which….how can CBCPravda keep saying they are canada’s #1 newscast, both on air and the internet? How can the keep saying bald assed Mercer is canada’s #1 funnyman? Thought we had false advertising laws in canuckistan?!?!?
Hey curious george, I totally agree with that you tube video. The world’s largest country has the smallest (and whimpiest) army imaginable. God forbid should we ever have to defend our borders one day.
Granted the red eye comments on the Canadian military were ill-timed as the forces had lost some men right around then – they were not aware of that and they did apologize. But the comments spoken in a humourous way were at their core correct- cdas forces are so weak and poorly staffed that they have to take time off in the middle of a war. Coming from country that never takes a break from the battle I would say they are in a position to take potshots at us and their other martially decaying allies.
Perhaps they were also not aware that CDA has been unafraid to mix it up whereas several of the other NATO countries never go outside the wire. But then how many people outside cda do?
In wars, men die. I don’t care what Ezra Pound or Wilfred Owen said; Dulce et decorum est, pro Patria mori. I’ll take Rupert Brooke’s words over both of them:
Honour has come back, as a king, to earth,
And paid his subjects with a royal wage;
And Nobleness walks in our ways again;
And we have come into our heritage.
Folks please. The correct acronym for the network is ‘CBFC’. I will leave it to somebody who is good with retarded children to explain to the liberals what the ‘F’ stands for. (No, the F doesn’t stand for ‘fwench’. Close, though.
Oh come on Kate, that’s not comparing apples to apples. I would’ve suggested that Tony Robbins’ infomercials have a larger viewing audience than the CBC…
My theory is that after that disasterous election and the scary 200 days since that the MSM and WH bitching about FOX has spread the word…..where to get the truth.
Seriously the MSM is advertising for FOX everytime they whine about FOX….

well coue, I find that Canuckistan’s army is about the size necessary to do the job. with some lead time.
can u tell me a war any time that we were involved in and didn’t win?
we thumped the amerkuns in 1812-14 before we were even a country.
who is going to attack us anyway? who? what a dumfuk point that is. ‘if we are ever attacked yada yada ya’ ‘if it saves juuuuuust one life’ logic there.
if the great US of A decides to invade when they run out of water, I wouldnt hesitate to pick them off with a hunting rifle. I wouldnt put it past them, this was a secret plan in the 30s: http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v12/v12p121_HNAC.html
so lets go thru a quick checklist of where our guys in uniform did their thing:
1812 (see above)
status: successful
1914-18
status: successful
1939-45
status: successful
Korea
status: successful
Cold War
status: successful
Canadians detest violence and force and cringe at the sight of it. you call that ‘wimpy’.
I call it an aversion to the base nature of mankind.
when given no other alternative we adjust the gun sights and kill until there is no more outside attack.
THAT is the Canadian military tradition.
THAT is why I so strongly object to the RECORDED words of mr red eye in typical Fox fashion trying to stir up controversy.
so come on down sda gloaters, join the anti-Canadian combat personnel bashing to show how pro-Fox red eye you are.
George. The particular incident that you continue to harp on was regrettable. And, if memory serves me correctly, an apology was issued. But, you’ll get no argument from anybody on SDA that it was an extremely ill-timed, and ignorant comment.
So, what’s your point? You’ve set up a nice straw man to attack, but haven’t discussed the topic at hand — you know, how a show at a 3:00 a.m. time slot is handily beating its competitor’s prime time fare.
I find it funny that the leftards that hate the military are always the ones pretending to support the military if it promotes bashing something conservative.
Red Eye is aimed at a very specific watcher demographic, so consider every new viewer as one more vote the Obominator won’t get next time.
“who is going to attack us anyway? who? what a dumfuk point that is. ”
Well, let’s see. The US is in economic collapse and has the strongest military in the world. I don’t know why that wouldn’t give you pause. And picking them off with a hunting rifle is pretty rich given Canada’s gun control laws.
Canada has vast resources which, if left undefended by a US collapse, would certainly draw the eye of other powers.
Let’s say global warming is true, what are the Russians doing in the Arctic anyways?
You seem to think that history is like a Hollywood movie where the ending is predictable.
Just thinking as I contemplate the troubles over at Canwest.
The recent wringing of hands by the broadcasters that cable companies don’t pay them for their programing has me a bit befuddled.
If I decided to rent a hall and set up a big screen through an antenna feed for the big game being broadcast, and then I charge some nominal fee to anyone coming to watch in that venue, how long do you think it would be before that network had a court injunction to cease and desist?
What I’m saying is, rather than invest dwindling ad revenues into a national ad campaign to have the government (read tax payer) foot the bill to force cable companies to pay them for the programing they air, why not just send a bill to the cable companies for the broadcasting? They could even give it some creative name like reverse billing for services taken without permission. Just seems obvious when I see the small print at the end of each program that indicates that the local news is copyrighted.
This fight is between the networks and the cable companies. They can go to civil litigation, we’ll end up paying anyway, lets make it voluntary (cable bill) not manditory (tax bill).
You must like Red Eye. After all, it trashed Canada’s military.
Good quality programming indeed.
Which means they have more viewers than the CBC does during any time slot.
All CBC TV has to do to get their viewership up is do the broadcast equivalent of the viewer commentary which atttracts the leftist hordes to popular web site. CBC online is like a bug light for cyber reds. Give the snotty left wing narcissists who dote on the Mothercorp drivel an opportunity to hear their own voice on the tube and they will plant themselves in front of the beach combers reruns indefinitely.
When it comes to market share, it’s all about catering to ego with the left.
“You must like Red Eye. After all, it trashed Canada’s military.”
We have all agreed that the segment in question was uncalled for and in bad taste. If this incident is all you left-wingers have to go along with your newly-acquired admiration of the military … point taken. Now please move on.
Personally, the only thing Red Eye does for me is prove that there are actually people awake at that hour of the morning besides Billy Mayes, Anthony Sullivan, Vince Shamwow and the poor operators that are ready to take your calls for the next 20 minutes. Having said that, it is amazing that a show for insomniacs and drunks returning home would have more viewers than shows in prime time from the other news outlets.
