    Hedy indeed covers a lot of that. She’s not poor, and as far as I know she’s only intellectually disabled, but the hijab is no problem. She’s worn the kaffiyeh already if I’m not mistaken.

    Dare I say it? The Lieberal Party needs a grassroots style (think Progressive Reform Party) to renew and re-invent the party. It goes without saying that this new Liberal party should be Power Corp free as any connection with that will allow the stench to follow.

Who knows, he might even move Canada more to the right than our Harper’s slow increments are doing right now…Even if he should get a minority, his policies would get free pass with the MSM and Lib supporters just like Obama supporters won’t care which direction he’s taking the country as long as their “brand” is back at the helm they could then go back to sleeping behing their rose coloured glasses once again.
    BUT, they have to first win an election. In the state that party is in right now it’s easier said than done. The brand is oxidizing fast and becoming irrelevant even faster.
    Funny how Kate’s post is right beside a “Not waiting for an asteroid” segment on the main screen.
    Was the last election the asteroid that pointed the Libranos final march towards extinction?

  20. Hey Dev, this dog & pony show is about selecting a new leader for the lieberal party, not the Prime Minister’s position. As for the last CPC leadership race I do believe that dear Belinda Stronach qualifies as diverse (in many ways).
    As I said earlier and others have mentioned as well, the Lieberals have to “diversify” and get some leader that is not a part of the Power Corp old boy’s network otherwise it is same old, same old. Their work is certainly cut out for them. They need a progressive version of a Manning or Palin to truely rebuild from the ground up.
    btw, I believe this post is not a lecture as so many leftoids would like to believe but an observation on an event or situation that invites comments, dialogue and discussion. If you want only one point of view then Rabble Babble is for you.

  28. I’m completely against ‘diversity’ as a qualifier for any office or employment. I object, strongly, to hiring someone on the basis of their gender, skin colour or ethnicity.
    I’m only interested in their intelligence, experience, integrity and principles. None of these have anything to do with the superifical qualifiers of ‘gender, skin colour or ethnicity’.

    Nice try but since Harper isn’t running for the Liberal leadership doesn’t he have to run against the other Liberal candidates first?
    Last time I checked competing for anything with others running is running against them. Is that not the way it works?
    The Libs never give up. Iggy wasn’t far off when he suggested the Puffin as Liberal mascot, they hide their poop. We all know they’re well divided and trying desperately to project a real united love in will bomb.

  32. Ignatieff is copying the Obama campaign’s focus on ‘Change’. And he’s setting himself up as The Agent of Change.
    His self-definition of himself as ‘the Agent of Change’ and against Harper is also a clever tactic of suggesting that Harper is not about change!
    We haven’t had a PM so focused on change in a generation – change in the infrastructure of this country by moving out of the centralist authoritarian power of Ottawa and into a decentralized federalism.
    Change in moving Canada back into an international role, an active role rather than the passive and hapless ‘peacekeeper’. Change in moving Canada into a more competitive role in the international markets rather than relying only on the US consumer to purchase our goods.
    Change in the governing infrastructure, to reject that useless Senate, reject those useless bureaucratic bloated offices…
    Oh, by the way, Kinsella has joined with Ignatieff, and already, they have aligned themselves as the Saviours of the HRCs.
