the washington post will be the first one to request and be granted a bailout from the obamessiah. you cant buy publicity like this with your own money.
we on the other hand already have CBCpravda at the public trough.
So all that obfuscation, yapping, and waste of bandwidth, just to tell us that WaPo are commie supporters.Darn.Who wouldn’t thunk that? Just anybody with more than 1 brain cell.
For some reason I’m still watching CNN. I can’t believe the things that are being said, to the effect that “well, this difficult economy may delay some of the election promises of Obama”. They are a very understanding and sympathetic bunch.
And of course the assessment comes in AFTER the election when it will have nil impact…
Good point Cal2
In Canada we wear our socialism on our sleeves; whereas, Stateside they hide it under the guise of “private” business. It looks like GWB has opened Pandora’s box, and the line-up for handouts rivals that of a Mily Cyrus concert. The question is, who will be deemed worthy of these handouts?
“… may delay some of the election promises of Obama” Duh, ya think? Almost every politician elected does the “it’s worse than I thought” song and dance thing. And the sheeple just nod and smile like bobble heads.
Nothing new here folks, move along.
GT and TC
Even worse, though, was the earnest nature of the CNN talking heads, reassuring everyone that “if he could do it all he would: – they are quite the booster club.
Not one critical word or sentence, not one comment about overinflated promises, nothing, nada
I would love to see a similar “mea culpa” from the New York Times. Ya, Fat chance.
The words of Bill Kristol via Five Feet of Fury:
“Here, in a few sentences, Obama did the following: He deepened his bond with every dog lover in America. He identified with every household that’s tried to figure out what kind of dog to get. He touched every parent with a kid allergic to pets. He showed compassion by preferring a dog from a shelter. And he demonstrated a dry and slightly politically incorrect wit by commenting that “a lot of shelter dogs are mutts like me.”
Not bad. It could be a tough four or eight years for conservatives.”
Man, I can never remember exactly what “bathos” means, until I read crap like that
“The project also calculated that in that time, 57 percent of the stories were about the horse race and 13 percent were about issues.”
Exactly, and this is why we won’t read your crap anymore…
A book idea for Ms. Shaidle – The Tyranny of Bias: How the Media crushes elections in the name of Diversity.
I guess it’s normal for the Canadian media to be more supportive of American govt than Canadian.
And it’s probably normal for Canadian “journalists” to think a politician should have mountains and national holidays named after them.
And I’m sure a change from BC and AD to BO and AO would be cause for a collective Cdn. media tinglethon.
But I have to ask:
What are you going to do when he actually accomplishes something?
The most powerful tool the media has is spin. When reading a “news” item, it is often difficult to know what is fact and what is spin.
Google has changed all that. A search, on what you might expect to be a straight forward story, will often turn up a few different takes – spin.
But with the list before your very eyes and each take only a click away, it is now very, very easy to see through the bafflegarb. We now instantly know what questions to ask. That is the key.
I often email prominent Journalists and ask them questions about their recent column. Most reply, most are courteous. They all are human. Most, on a one to one basis, will admit spin is part of the media’s game. But many, in their email reply, just continue with the spin, obfuscation and deflection.
CBCpravda sets up another tent on the left

“Yeah, we pimped Obama.” – what 98% of the American MSM can, but won’t, say.
Sorry,
I don’t read any website that requires me to register.
ESPECIALLY not the Washington Post!
Just wondering how comments regarding Obama’s promises are different from Harper? Harper stated categorically we won’t go into deficit during the debates, and now seems to claim that there is a possibility of a deficit temporarily during the economic downturn.
Now, I don’t have a problem with a deficit if its good for the country. There are times when keeping yourself above the water at all costs wastes more money than going under for a bit while holding your breath, so I don’t mind this. Initially when Harper said we wouldn’t have a deficit I was sad as this was 100% pandering to the silly masses who believe Canada should somehow carry on business as usual when commodity prices have dropped over 60% in the past 6 months.

I’ve read and forgotten about the Ricardian equivalence many times (and how it was eventually discarded by even Ricardo himself). I think the real problem is that government deficit finances in “troubled times”, which is probably OK to a degree, but when the good times roll, deficit spending tends not to decrease
Wapo started the register schtick about 3 days before the election. Perhaps it triggers on the number of repeat visits – I haven’t done a cookie clear to see if that makes a difference, but they started locking me out a week ago. Hohum, just have to go somewhere else, right?
The Obama bias practised by CNN made the CBC bias toward Liberals look amateurish.
‘Nother new book for Shaidle et al:
The Death of the Free Press: Murder or Suicide?
I could write a chapter about the gun control “debate” in the USA and Canada, good example of how Big Media can take the dumbest idea ever and get it made into Reality (TM).
Really, we’ve been here before though. Difference between the old days and now, in the old days they used to have papers like the Whig Standard, where they told you what their slant was right on the mast head. Now they just lie about it: “Slant? What slant?”
