Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“You can send him your thanks…”
Just did. Thanks again, Dan!
You would think actual Conservative MP would stand up for what they believe at some point.
Where are the Conservative MP’s in this debate?
Sent him a note of support, hope it will turn into and avalanche.
Sometimes I just don’t know, the above should read ‘into an avalanche’.
if conservatives say anything pro or con about the thought crime commissions..they’ll get crushed by the MSM.
A little more meat please Mr. McTeague and you may earn some thanks. The video shown proves he’s not a complete Liberal imbecile and has the capacity to understand that the censorship of free speech is “Worthwhile the consideration”. It would be nice to see a little passion with the “idea” other than a carefully constructed blurb intended to not offend. Until then………..
Sent, see below.
Dear Mr. McTeague,
I would like to thank you for supporting Dr. Kieth Martins’ motion to abolish this abominable threat to freedom of speech in Canada.
Just like many other well intentioned laws enacted over the years, that have had unintended consequences when in the hands of unprincipled demagogues with an agenda, this one has had it’s best before date expire.
That a single individual can make almost every complaint under this section to haul someone he doesn’t like into a kangaroo court with a hundred percent conviction rate has to get thinking people to realize that there is “sumptin’ wong” (as my ninety two year old Japanese mother in law would say) with the system.
I hope you will work hard to convince others in your caucus to join you and Kieth.
I don’t think there is any point in approaching your leader as he seems to be having a very difficult time maintaining a position on anything these days.
Sincerely,
I will echo Kelly…the Conservatives can’t touch this issue lest they be crucified by the press. I believe that this is one of those strategic decisions of PMSH to shush his MP’s from responding…if the Conservatives push this, the liberal MSM will tear them a new collective hole.
Once the hue and cry is loud enough (such that the press can’t backtrack their support), I believe the Conservatives will step up and respond to the “will of the people”.
Control the message. Control the agenda. Don’t let your guard down. I say, well done, CPC.
Dan came canvasing at my door one day and i told him what I thought about the Liberal rats wanting anyone to vote for them. Needless to say he hopped off mad as a hatter. He always jumps on the gas prices being too high-bandwagon, when he needs attention.
…the Conservatives can’t touch this issue lest they be crucified by the press…Once the hue and cry is loud enough … I believe the Conservatives will step up and respond to the “will of the people”.
But isn’t that why they’re called “leaders” and not “followers”?
Freedom Fan, you can’t lead if you’re not in power. You gotta pick your fights. If they pick a fight on this, they would be defending themselves from the likes of Kinsella and his “if-you-agree-with-anything-a-racist-says-then-you’re-racist” attack. And the media would have a heyday humiliating the Conservatives.
Look at what some journalists are starting to realize…the Conservatives have been quietly changing the way the federal government works. Not by marching on the enemy with drums drumming, bagpipes shrilling and flags waving, but by quietly going about their business.
Would you prefer they charge like the Light Brigade?
“Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley’d and thunder’d; Storm’d at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.”
Consider instead Sun Tsu:
“The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy…Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.”
I encourage all those who doubt in PMSH to give him more time and then a majority. Until then, the CPC must put itself beyond the possibility of defeat.
Point taken.
