Godwin’s law, parliamentary version.
Perhaps it was a diversionary tactic to take the spotlight off Beaker’s poor launch this week.
The NDP act like Marx, the Conservatives act like Goebbels and the adscam Liberals acted like Sgt. Schultz. It’s a German trifecta.
Isn’t it a rule of debate on the internet that when you resort to the Nazi comparison arguement it’s an automatic indicator of losing?
Me thinks Graham protests too much. He must be afraid they made a baaaaaaaad choice last Saturday. Perhaps Reid told them we would all be too busy buying popcorn and beer to pay attention to a little thing like french citizenship. He also must be under the delusion that we cdns have a short memory. Thanks to blogs, I predicted long ago, as did others, their lies will be exposed in seconds. Dion admitted to Manbridge, (who holds two passports, british and cdn) that if he feels his dual citizenship could cause Harper to be re-elected, he will renounce his french one. So, if he renounces his citizenship sooner or later he is admitting Harper can and will beat him. I hope someone can get the clip of his stmt and keep it to be replayed several times during the election. That man just keeps on giving. Must be the season. To all muslims here: MERRY CHRISTMAS
Maybe this fuss will be enough for stats can to get rid of the question re ethnic origin, (we always answer canadian) and instead ask, are you a dual citizen, if so, what countries.
“In fact Graham a former foreign minister says he frequently pressured his Syrian counterparts about Arar.”
Wow … and they didn’t buckle?
And after Mr. Graham’s heroic defense of Maher Arar, he was immediately released.
What? He wasn’t? Well then, at least Mr. Graham tried right? That’s what counts, right? Guys? Guys? Anyone?
maryT:
Hey here is an idea:
Dion keeps his french passport.
Harper takes out a german citizenship, after the Bundeswehr help him out in Afghanistan.
It will be the French and the Huns all over again in the next election!!
Surly: German trifecta
I thought that was saurkraut, sausage and beer.
Another thought:
“Dueling citizenships” although I think dueling is forbidden in Canada.
And the Liberal leadership = Kristallnacht. Over the top – certainly. Believable? Absolutely.
Want proof?
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20061207/bob_rae_061207/20061207?hub=Canada
Some of the more shocking quotes in the article:
1. Sources close to Rae say that his wife, Arlene Perly Rae, was approached during last weekend’s convention by a delegate who didn’t realize she was the candidate’s wife. The delegate told her not to vote for Rae “because his wife is Jewish.”
2. A flyer was circulated electronically among convention delegates denouncing Rae: “Rae’s wife is a vice-president of the CJC (Canadian Jewish Congress), a lobby group which supports Israeli apartheid,” said a flyer in bold letters superimposed over a close-up of Rae’s face. “Bob Rae supports Israeli apartheid. Don’t elect a leader who supports apartheid.”
3. On another website, operated by a Montreal-based pro-Palestinian group, Liberals were urged about a week before the leadership vote: “Do not vote for Bob Rae, we’re not looking or another Zionist PM.”
The group recommended that delegates vote for Gerard Kennedy, the fourth-place contender whose dramatic decision to throw his support to Stephane Dion after the second ballot clinched the victory for Dion. It said that “voting for Bob Rae is a vote for the daily massacre in Palestine (and)… for a new Zionist PM in Canada.”
5. Ed Morgan, president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, called on the Liberal party Thursday to denounce the flyer. While it’s legitimate to criticize a candidate’s position on the Middle East, Morgan said there can be only one purpose in raising the fact that Rae’s wife is a member of the Congress’s board: “It’s strictly to say that his wife is a Jew.”
6. Tarek Fatah, a Rae supporter and member of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said appeals to “tribalism” went well beyond the Muslim delegates. He said Kennedy, despite his claim to represent party renewal, was the candidate who benefited most from the support of Muslim, Sikh, Ukrainian and Tamil blocs, who moved en masse to Dion after the second ballot.
7. “This is a step back,” Fatah said in an interview, adding that Kennedy has “taken us back to the ’30s and ’40s” when Catholics and Protestants voted in blocs. “It’s tainting the political system where policies aren’t being discussed but race, ethnicity and religion (are pivotal).”
AND THE LIBERALS ARE CALLING THE CONSERVATIVES ‘NAZIS’? For God’s sake, this is just disgusting.
German trifecta – I always thought it was 3 beers.
It is always interesting to see that ethno-cultural centrism is being used as a bargaining chip in a supposedly multicultural Canada.
To paraphrase, You can take a wanker out of his corrupt terrorist country, but you cannot take the corrupt terrorist country out of the wanker.
Herr Graham…
Ich habe Kopfschmerzen.
DU IST DIE KOPFSCHMERZEN! grrrrr**
** translation in English = grrrr!!
MaryT, I saw Mr. Dion on with Peter Mansbridge spot and on with Steve Paiken’s show. Mr. Dion basically repeated his well rehearsed lines on these 2 shows.
And he did repeat that it would make him “sad” if he had to revoke his French citizenship to be more winnable. Ahhh! Well, how about we don’t make him “sad” and don’t vote for him. He could then move to France and become a professor there and then he could be 100% loyal to France.
He was quite arrogant and smug with his answers. I just don’t trust him.

Libs: They’re liars, they’re Nazis!
Public: Gee that’s pretty damning, didn’t the Nazis use massive state driven media to try to convince its public that jews were rat like animals, and subhuman in nature in order to justify rounding up entire communities to be murdered in gas chambers?
Libs: Yes. The CPC saying that we didn’t do anything to get Arar out, is like that. Just like that. We now know what it feels like to be on the recieving end of such lies. “Pressure” isn’t “nothing”, just like Jews weren’t subhuman rats that needed to be exterminated.
ah..what’s old is new…i remember in the early days of reform(party) in ontario being called a fascist nazi by many moonbats protesting our democratic meetings….also another not so cheerful memory…working security for preston manning, protesters cornered a WWII vet(he was wearing his legion jacket and medals), calling him a nazi, and forcing him into a hedge…the vet almost stroked until a cop and myself went in swinging to free the vet…the nerve of these commie peuks to call a man who put his life on the line fighting fascism a nazi because he was exercising his democratic rights….libs, moonbats, commies, welfare bums, trough feeders….they r all the same
Gee it’s good to see the shoe on the other foot–except that the Liberals, once again, go way over the top when responding to valid criticism of their Party by the CPC.
Wow! Big Bill Graham put pressure on the Syrian goverment to try and help Arar. I remember “the pressure” the Liberals put on the Syrian Government: It was tepid, limp-wristed, and totally ineffectual, and Arar languished in jail where he was, allegedly, tortured by his accusers.
Now the Libs have the nerve to criticize the CPC, which had nothing to do with this fiasco, except try to get to the bottom of the problem, while at the same time calling them Nazis because they’ve DARED call the Liberal handling of this situation into question.
Isn’t that what’s supposed to happen in the House of Commons.
This looks “good” on Bill Graham, the sputtering, corrupt, imagination-challenged old windbag. Stuff it, Bill. Find something legitmate to rail on and on about and, while you’re at it, broaden your vocabulary.
Bill Graham failed miserably on
1) Mahar Arar
2) Bill Sampson
3) Ms Kazemei
All three canadian citizens
All three tortured
All three failed by the Canadian government, which was run by Liberals at the time.
One citizen was dealt with well, Mr Kahdr got intervention from the Prime Minister…..of course Mr Kahdr’s connections paid money into the Liberal party….
remeber citizenship comes with a price
The Weblog Awards voting openned last night. Vote for Small Dead Animals in “The Best Canadian Blog” category by clicking on the Weblog Awards Icon at the top left of the screen. She’s the best and she’s blowing everyone else out of the water.
SeanP:quote:”Isn’t it a rule of debate on the internet that when you resort to the Nazi comparison argument it’s an automatic indicator of losing?”unquote
Yes indeed it is.
I think Graham pressuring Syria on Arar was “immature”.
“In fact Graham _ a former foreign minister _ says he frequently ‘pressured’ his Syrian counterparts about Arar.”
uhuh.
and the ‘pressure’ billy boy refers to requires an ultrasensitive scientific instrument capable of counting out single atoms of artificially created isotopes.
starting with the one called lieberalium.
I cannot believe a Liberal can, with a straight face, speak of Nazi propaganda in country where the tax funded national broadcaster continually speaks for the Liberal Party.
What’s that saying about the pot and the kettle?
‘Goebbels method was repeating a lie often enough that it came to be accepted as truth’
That is exactly the method of the Libs!…and I work with enough ‘believers’ to see that the Libs have been the Masters of the Goebbel method. They are counting on MSM to play the game:
Holland on CTV interview this week claiming the Harper government was trying to ‘slip something under the rug’ about the Zac/Arar affair…???
If that is played repeatedly by MSM listen for it in the conversations…’Conservatives are hiding something about the RCMP’
The effect of those 10 second sound bites can be heard around the country. You can fool some of the people a lot of the time….
If Prime Minister Stephen Harper were german he could offer them this phrase which I offered to the former Finance Minister Goodale:
“Ihr seid Alle Schweinehunde, bis ihr den gegenteil anzeigen.”
Translation:
“You are all sons of bitches, until you demonstrate the opposite.”
So far I haven’t seen anything amongst the LIEberals to indicate any contrition/regret for the way they managed to mangle the administration of this nation.
Pot-kettle-black.
Indicative of the devolved level of intellect in the public discourse of federal politics.
From my perspective if you call your opponent a nazi you lose the debate…it indicates an intellect devoid of reason and bankrupt of defensive counter point.
Bill Grayham?..stick a fork in ’em another self distructed Lib moonbat goes to the parliamentary psych ward.
What’s worse? Calling someone a dog or calling someone a Nazi? Something tells me the liberal media won’t “dog” this issue for 14 days like they did Peter McKay’s comment.
Mary T and others. If you think CPC will win the next election take a deep breath and reflect on the last month.
The majority of Canadians receive their “NEWS” from the MSM.
With Harper burning votes it the west and the media lashing out at the NDP, I think the liberals are a shoe-in for a majority in the next election. The media will not repeat the mistakes of the last election.
The big looser. Canada. RIP
PS. My reference NDP is only to indicate that the media, when they pull out all the stops will also go after thoes “liberals in a hurry” to make sure that the liberals get all the votes they deserve or are intitled to.
Bill Graham put pressure on Syria? Yeah right. Remember how the Liberals cried when Harper put pressure on CHina regarding the Cdn citizen being held there? It’s funny that this hypocrisy is not being brought up in the MSM.
Not funny…Tony w has it right on…scary tho…Lib majority? We are doomed if that is the case.
“In fact Graham — a former foreign minister — says he frequently pressured his Syrian counterparts about Arar.”
“pressured his Syrian counterparts”
Into the mouths of babes, Duoh! whoops,
“Out of”
Harper is not burning votes in the west. Some might be upset with some things, but not enough to vote liberal. We do not vote for the leader as much as we do the candidate. That is unknown in liberal land. They vote for the word, not the man/woman running. One should hold their nose and watch cbc and question period to catch all the so called outrage of the liberals. Answer some questions. When was Arar deported-who deported him-when was he released. Didn’t all this happen under Graham as foreign minister. When did the O’Connor investigation start, who appointed him. It is very easy to come to conclusions after all the so called facts are in. It is quite another thing to make a decision one day on events that will not transpire for several weeks, months or years. Of course mistakes might be made. How did Graham intervene with tht female journalist that was really tortured and killed. How did he help the family to get the body returned to Canada for burial. Other than his mouth, Arar has shown no evidence he was tortured, he has no scars, has his head, fingernails, and other body parts. He and his lawyers have taken advantage of cdns and plans to sue us for millions of dollars. The liberals should pay that amount to him. Why does he still get attention and others don’t. Who will he share his illgotten gains with. If he had any respect for cdns (he doesn’t) he would fade away into the background, or terrorist underground.
Great quote Hans, I’ve lived with my own version for years. “Everyone is an a**hole until they prove otherwise.” It’s all about responsibility and accountability.
I like the way CPC party handling “all talk no action” Dion. Let him rant and put his foot in his mouth. Give him lots of rope to hang himself with the electorate with his arrogance and intolerance. In short, keep your powder dry. I’m convinced that the public will like Dion less and less (if they have any opinion at all) the more they hear from him. Unfortunately, the Cdn public has an inexhaustable ability to be conned and vote for precisely what they don’t want. Bring on the election, Dion; we are ready for you now.
So lemme get this straight:
Trudeau was a noted and proven Nazi sympathizer.
Coderre marched in a recent Hezbollah parade.
The majority of Muslims vote Liberal. In fact they have Muslim MP’s in their party – one of them upon winning his riding shouts, “Allah Akbar, this is a great win for Islam.”
The anti-semite, Liberal WWII PM, Mackenzie King was noted for not allowing Jewish refugees into Canada.
A number of prominent Muslim racists were seen at the recent Liberal convention, including Esmay.
And Bill Graham has the audacity to compare Conservatives with Nazi’s?
Time to take the kid gloves off.
Nazis oh my Gawd, Man the liberals are getting desparate!
My Dad a life long conservative would have something to say about that, It would most likely go like this.
Well a Conservative did not ride a motorcycle around Montreal wearing a Swastica & Nazi Helmet during the War. While my Brothers and so many canadian young men & women were off fighting with Britain Liberating France.
I liked Graham when he was defence minister and thought generally he was a respectable person but this episode has definitely changed my opinion of him.
Nazism, communism and Islamism are similar, the one feeding off of the other. Striking parallels between all three, not just the totalitarian and violent aspects, but the anti-semitic as well.
Mary T. When I said Harper was burning of votes in the west I did not mean that thoes votes would automatically go liberal.
I was talking about the CPC in general and Harper in particular.
Personally I will not vote for a non-comunication, and I don’t mean media, party. In fact I’m stuck with no one to vote for and I will not vote protest again.
“Nazism, communism and Islamism are similar, the one feeding off of the other. Striking parallels between all three, not just the totalitarian and violent aspects, but the anti-semitic as well.”
Make that five: the same applies to America and the Lutheran church.
(hint: the above is a ‘reductio ad absurdum’ argument)
A couple of questions: Where had Arar been when he was returning to Canada? He is a dual citizen of Canada and Syria,(his country of birth). Is he sueing Syria as well, or is it all Canada’s fault that he was sent to the country of which he is a citizen? I wish Arar would just go away, maybe back to Syria!
A couple of questions: Where had Arar been when he was returning to Canada? He is a dual citizen of Canada and Syria,(his country of birth). Is he sueing Syria as well, or is it all Canada’s fault that he was sent to the country of which he is a citizen?
Graham sat as interm until liberals could elect a leader we all know that, So what he say’s is inmaterial & Graham most likely won’t even run in the next election anyways. It don’t matter to the party brass who won, They just want whoever to stay long enough & buy some time Until Prince Justin can get enough exposure, Training & a seat.
Then they will dispose of there Patsy (Dion).
Dion should pay attention to the problems dual citizenship can cause. He better not go to the USA, he might be deported to France, and have to beg Harper for help. Anyone got a pic of Trudeau riding his motorcycle in a nazi helmut. I have seen it published somewhere but can’t remember where. Someone should reprint it with the title, Grahams friend.
Commenter vg hit the nail on the head in two important regards. First, that Graham’s shameful accusation that the Conservatives use Goebbel’s method of repeateing a lie so often it comes to be accepted as the truth is in fact the Liberals’ MO, and secondly, that since the Liberal convention CBC and CTV — who during the Liberal reign completely avoided attaching the Arar affair , and Zaccardelli’s behaviour to the Liberals — have been placing these twin issues squarely on the head of Harper.
On Wednesday’s National, Keith Boag, after cursorily noting that Zaccardelli quit, starts his top-of-the-hour story with a clip of Harper standing with Zaccardelli, and these words: “No one has worked harder on the relation than Stephen Harper. One of his first acts after the January elecion was to favour the RCMP comissioner Zaccardelli with a private chat, and this public photo-op. He raised a few eyebrows; during the election Zaccardelli had made news by publicly confirming an RCMP investigation, an investigation into allegations the Liberals had leaked information on income trusts. To this day nothing has come of it, but at the time it hurt the Liberals badly, perhaps tipped the election. Harper wanted it known he stood by the commissioner. But that was then…”
(Wipe-fade to Harper: ‘Today, Guiliano Zaccardelli submitted his resignation to me, and I have accepted it’)
“…But why now? Did it really have something to do with Zaccardelli’s testimony about the Maher Arar affair? Sure, the committee had made him swear an oath, and that’s never a good sign, and sure, he admitted he’d inadvertantly mislead the same committee in September, but none of that was news; at least, it shouldn’t have been.”
At the end of Boag’s piece, Stockwell Day, struggling to be heard over a bellowing, heckling attack in the House, asks why the previous government hadn’t acted. Boag: “Fair question. But it only adds to the mystery of why the new government has allowed itself to get tangled up in the mess that belongs to the old government.”
Yeszz, what an imponderable mystery. ***holes.
During the Liberal reign, when the RCMP repeatedly raided the house and cottage of the head of the BDC after he had turned down Chretien’s request that the taxpayers, in effect, loan money to somebody he knew, the CBC, criminally, never connected, in any way, shape or form, the RCMP’s action to the Liberals. And when the Liberals’ PMO was heard on tape making arguably criminal offers, CBC attacked the guy who pressed REC, made constant coverage out of the ridiculous accusation that the tapes were faked, or altered, and reported that Grewal was being investigated “after taping” (!) high-ranking Liberals. And then there were the raids on the house of reporter Juliet O’Neill, in search of the source of potentially damaging information against the Liberals in the Arar case, and the case where the RCMP received millions (three?) from the same ad firms who kicked back money to the Liberal party and so on; through all of this, Boag, Hunter et al never raised the issue of the RCMP acting as attack-dogs on behalf of LPC interests, and in general never presented that the RCMP’s behaviour had anything to do with the Liberals.
But now, the behaviour of the RCMP/Zaccardelli during the Liberal years as it pertains to the Arar case is placed on the head of Harper and the Conservatives, two nights running, as the TOP STORY. How blatantly ridiculous is that?
Conservative commenters and bloggers (with the exception of Kate and a few others) badly, badly underestimate the effect these sort of devious, specious nightly caost-to-coast smears are going to have on the next election. Goebbels, indeed.
p.s. cbcwatch is a horrible site — almost incomprehensible in it’s layout, and neglectful, ultimately, of the number one issue — The National’s daily coverage. They should revue The National’s coverage on the main page, daily, point by point, and allow free comment in a more straightforward format.
Most of you Tories are Facists. You don’t like to admit that. Your policies show your true colors.
Tories Fascist?
ok4ua, I wonder if you have a clue what either of those terms mean. They are virtually complete opposites. I would also point out Hitler was a member of the communist party before he went on to become leader of the third Reike.
Conservatives (torries) do not blindly follow anyones Ideas as tends to happen under fascist regimes. In fact unlike, communists which are all about the group, conservatives champion the individual. The individual has no place in fascism either in fact its just like communism in that respect.
As you can see by the comments on this blog day in day out, conservative people think for themselves!! They’re ideas aren’t always perfect, but you can certainly tell they weren’t pulled from the front of the local newspaper or the MSM.
Independent thought — a skill totally lacking in leftists. (and Fascists)
As to why there are so many leftists. I heard a song once the bigging of the chorus
” Everybody knows the world is full of stupid people….”
Takes one to know one, eh?
Actually, Goebbels’s essay on propaganda, written in 1927 (if memory serves) is quite interesting.
Basically you pick catch phrases such as, ummm, ‘Canadian values’, ‘multiculturalism’, ‘national daycare program’, etc and keep repeating them as often as possible until people believe them.
I guess Graham and his cohorts are familiar with the technique which is why it came to mind during the heat of debate in the Commons about their snippy little leader.
Bill is sounding a bit hysterical, somebody should slap him a couple of times.
“I would also point out Hitler was a member of the communist party before he went on to become leader of the third Reike.”
No, he wasn’t.
“As you can see by the comments on this blog day in day out, conservative people think for themselves!!”
This is a classical liberal delusion the falsity of which is proved here daily.
