A Jawa Report exclusive: video circulated purporting to record the beheading of Atwar Bahjat is a hoax. (Bahjat was an Iraqi television journalist abducted and murdered in February.)
On Sunday, May 7th, the Times reported that they had received a low-quality video of Atwar Bahjat being slowly beheaded. That video is now being circulated on the internet as the “Atwar Bahjat” beheading video.
The Jawa Report can reveal that the Times and Halal Jabar, the author of the article, are victims of a hoax. The video actually shows the gruesome murder of a Nepalese man by the Army of Ansar al-Sunna in Iraq from August of 2004. The man was one of 12 victims executed by the terrorist organization–the other 11 were shot (original story, video, and images of 12 Nepalese murdered Iraq here).
[…]
The Times reported that the film was delivered to them by Sunni insurgents and said that it had been found on the mobile phone of a dead member of Shia militant. The article erroneously tries to blame Bahjat’s murder on Shia militias, and uses the false video as evidence of growing civil strife in Iraq.
The video, in fact, actually shows an “infidel” being murdered by a Sunni Salaafist terrorist organization with ties to al Qaeda.
There’s quite a lot more at Rusty’s, along with a host of linked commentary. But do be forewarned, there are also graphic images on the page, though they are preceded by clear warnings so that you can avoid viewing them if you choose.

So what is worse- the sick pukes who would commit these disgusting acts, or the ones who would actually watch them?

The beheading is not a hoax, the depraved cruelty of the torture before the knife is brougt out is not a hoax, right descriptions, wrong person.
The religion of peace marches on.
And Abu Ghraib remains front page fodder for the New York Times…
Oh, dear…
I did a post based on the Times story.
So the actual victim in the video was not Bahjat. Ok. Still, this sort of thing does happen in the Islamic world. No doubt about it.
I’ll have to update that post of mine… sigh…
Anyone seen/heard this @ MSM? +
Coalition Forces Discover Key AQIZ Documents during April raid
BAGHDAD, Iraq – During an Apr. 16 raid in the Yusifiyah area, Coalition Forces discovered a large amount of documents and videos ranging from plans to critiques including al Qaida in Iraq’s strategy in Baghdad, and how the terrorist organization lacks leadership, military capability and Iraqi support.
After discovering these documents, the translated versions were sent to Coalition Forces’ leadership for analysis, said a Multi-National Force spokesman. Specifically, the al Qaida author of the “Baghdad Strategy” and the “Baghdad State of Affairs” is unknown, but officials assess he is of significance within the terrorist organization. The latter memorandum outlines that al Qaida in Iraq presently has no strategy, that the ‘…mujahideen are not considered more than a daily annoyance to the Shiite government…’, and that the ‘…mujahideen in Baghdad are generally groups of assassins without any organized military capabilities.’
“The discovery of theses documents is extremely relevant. This information confirms what the Government of Iraq, Coalition Forces and ultimately the people of Iraq already know – that AQIZ’s role only attempts to impede Iraqis in following the road to prosperity, security and national unity,” said MNF-I spokesman, Brig. Gen. Rudy Wright.
According to the translated al-Qaida in Iraq’s documents, the Mujahideen’s only power lies in surprise ‘hit and run’ attacks, or setting up explosive charges and booby traps that predominantly target civilian men, women and children.
According to the author of the Baghdad State of Affairs document (translated), “The actions of the Iraqi Security Forces are having a significant negative impact on the Mujahideen’s ability to operate in Baghdad. Al Qaida in Iraq attacks Mosques and other public places to draw media attention and is having difficulty recruiting members because the people of Iraq do not support its cause.”
Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces continue to conduct operations that provide for the safety and security of all Iraqis. The Government of Iraq is presently working on forming its new National Unity Government according to its constitution voted on by all Iraqi people and is a hindrance to the terrorists who do not support this cause. +

BERNARD LEWIS
The following is an edited transcript of Bernard Lewis’s talk at the Grano lecture series last Tuesday on the role of women in the Middle East. Lewis is the Cleveland E. Lodge Professor Emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University and the author of What Went Wrong? Western Impact and Middle Eastern Response. He is a senior advisor to the President on Middle Eastern affairs.
Muslims have been keenly aware of the weakness and relative backwardness of their society for a long time now. This awareness begins, of course, with defeat in the battlefield — that is where the lessons of history are most perspicuously administered — but it has spread to other things, and for a long time now the debate has been going on in the Islamic world. “What did we do wrong? What is the secret of Western success and of our failure?”
Let me begin my discussion of that with a definition: gender. Gender, as you know, is a grammatical term. In Latin, there are three genders: masculine, feminine and neutral. In modern usage it has come to acquire a somewhat different connotation, meaning relations between the sexes other than the purely physical ones.
I would like to begin with two quotations from the very rich Muslim literature commenting on these changes. My first comes from 1593. + more…

New Zarqawi Video
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (Zarkie for short) just loves to ham it up for the cameras. Italy’s La Repubblica Online has posted a previously unseen video of Zarqawi giving his blessing to a suicide bomber, who then blows himself up in Ramadi in an attack purportedly against an American base. (Hat tip: hiddentruths.)
There’s a date stamp on the video: April 17, 2006.

Apparently these rather gruesome images and accompanying report, fooled David Frum who writes about it today in the National Post comment page.
The ploy and intent with the atrocity videos is to instill the *be very afraid* mindset in the west.
Sadly, many knees are aquiver among Liberals.
Liberals, please realize, that to pull out and retreat is to trigger the same agression and persuit your running from cougar, bear or Jackal would trigger.
We have a choice, wring one*s hands, worry about the backlash and elections in November, or get off the pot and *FIX it!*.
Too much delay and we may have to start learning the Kohran.
Simplistic and tongue-in-cheek? OK, so now I am waiting for the *correct* solution from you, the well informed. TG
uugghhh…. very sobering. Whereas before viewing I might have given quarter to those sick bastards, I know now that I’d give an eye for an eye…. only slower, very much slower, even better if their buddies were to watch. Perhaps the military should show this to the new ones heading over, just to demonstrate how low these people will sink? Might give the newbies some perspective on whom they are fighting. Just a thought…
