The Liberals corner the widow and orphans vote.
“I have an idea, Mr. Prime Minister… propose a Heroes Fund like they’ve had in the States for years. Like the one that the NDP proposed last year and we rejected. “
“I would give everything in the world to have my son back,” said Schiemann. “I would say to the prime minister, keep your $250,000, keep your $25 million (and use it) so this doesn’t happen again.”
“When the New York Times and the Washington Post, both pillars of the liberal media establishment, take notice of how anti-American Canadian politics has become, you’ve touched a political nerve.”
India is dumping Kyoto.
Again, thanks to everyone who took time to send tips – wish I could use more, but just getting through email each day is a daunting task! (There are over 1,000 visits an hour here at peak traffic, to give you an idea.) If you don’t get a response, it’s because I simply don’t have the time to answer them all.
Don’t forget the other great bloggers out there just itching to feature your story – and they might have more time to deal with it!
Speaking of which – here’s one from a reader who wishes to remain anonymous;
Today the Ottawa District Labour Council and Shawn McKenney(sp?) of the NDP made a complaint to the CRTC about election bias at CFRA am radio. This station has not been toeing the Liberal line but instead has been interviewing all party contenders and giving quite balanced coverage of the election. The station has Lowell Green, Steve Madely, Michael Harris, Rob Snow and other talk show hosts who inform the public on all kinds of issues and is perhaps the only station that actually doesn’t pillory the Conservatives regularly. […] I only heard of the complaint on Michael Harris show…

The Globe and Mail endorsed the Conservatives. While I don’t agree with everything that they wrote since it was written from a different political prism, it was very well-reasoned and fair.
Here is the link to the article mentioned.

If the Globe is endorsing the Conservatives, it’s because that will generate Liberal votes from frightened Ontarians.
A significant element within the American ruling elite and among its political representatives saw the chaos in New Orleans as the fault of the victims themselves, and drew the most reactionary conclusions. The Wall Street Journal published a lengthy editorial comment by Charles Murray, author of the infamous pseudo-scientific and racist tract, The Bell Curve. The thrust of the book, published a decade ago, is an unabashed defense of social inequality, attributing wealth and poverty to superior versus inferior genetically determined intellectual abilities. Its political conclusion is a rejection of all policies aimed at improving social injustice and furthering democratic values.
CONSERVATIVES?
Some deep rooted beliefs and statements by conservatives, All psychologists who have studied the intelligence of women, as well as poets and novelists, recognize today that they represent the most inferior form of human evolution and that they are closer to children and savages than to an adult civilized man. They excel in fickleness, inconsistency, absence of thought and logic, and incapacity to reason. Without doubt there exist some distinguished women, very superior to the average man, but they are as exceptional as the birth of any monstrosity, as, for example, a gorilla with two heads; consequently, we may neglect them entirely.
WE DIDN’T MAKE THIS UP
THE CONSERVATIVES DID.
sam, you are a troll & disruptor- this is my first, last, and only communication with you- bye.
First off, Sam, you’re an idiot.
Second, isn’t it interesting that the right sees media bias and starts up a million blogs, think tank and other private organizations. The left whines to the government for the suppression of freedom of speech. And these are the same people that accuse the CPC of wanting to take away “fundamental freedoms.” More idiots.
I’m convinced that socialism is not a political ideology but a mental disorder.
LIBERALS WILL TAKE AWAY PROPERTY RIGHTS VIA COMMUNIST DOCTRINE
http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com/2006/01/liberals-will-take-away-property.html
Yes, you heard that right. The Liberals are really communists, if you think about it long enough. Read the post at the link.
What a turnaround! The G&M is endorsing (maybe lukewarmly) the Tories and it appears Belinda Stronach is now running the Liberal campaign.
Update:
Belgian Family Remains on the Run
Josh Pringle

A Navan family remains in hiding this weekend, avoiding a deportation order to Belgium.
The Van Hauves’ were scheduled to leave Canada on Thursday night, but the Ontario Landowners Association has placed them in protective custody.
The Federal Government says Michel Van Hauve was convicted of shoplifting 26 years ago in Belgium.
Speaking to A-Channel Ottawa on Friday, Suzy Myers says they have two options – “pack our suitcase, shut up and leave or fight it.” Myers says “It’s worth it…. There is room for everyone, every hard working person.”
The Van Hauves’ visas have expired and their application for permanent residence hasn’t been processed.
Immigration Officials searched the Van Hauves family home on Thursday night. >>

India dropping Kyoto.
PMPM says Canadians and a majority of Quebecers endorse Kyoto.
I think that means they expect transfer of credits from the emitting provinces to hydro Quebec.
The Quebec handshake is always offered palm up.
Retired Quebec Justice Bernard Grenier has been appointed to investigate the Options Canada Scandal.
He was previously active in the role of Special Advisor to none other than Irwin Cotler, for some reason the story on the CTV website makes no mention of this. Any thoughts on this?
He’ll probably find what he’s told to find. Should have waited post election. It’ll all have to be done over again. I suspect if the Tories get in (supersitious – sorry), they’ll go after all the stuff Gomery didn’t, plus sic Sheila Fraser on anything she has concerns about. I wish it was January 24tth instead of the 14th. Time for a glass of merlot. It finally stopped raining on Day 27. Maybe it’s a good omen.
Retired Quebec Justice Bernard Grenier has been appointed …Any thoughts on this?
Just more double-dipping by retired civil servants.
which of the long chain of Liberal insiders first appointed him to the bench.?? how long ago, on the PMMPs tenure .father of PMPM?
