Sunday I wrap up at the dog show (hopefully before noon) and travel the 6 hours home – and we’re expecting “weather”, so don’t expect much in the way of new posts until Monday.
And at that, I have a lot of work to cram in before the weekend.
So, it’s a reader tips post, and open thread.

  13. In our house with a 17 year spread between our first and last child, I’m sure that I’m like most of us who have read different versions of the Richard Scarry books to our kids.

It’s not just political correctness either (e.g., lightening the fur on the animal driving in a car stopped by a police officer, making the police officer female).     In a post Nov. 23, ” Airplanes and elections”, he makes it clear that he is in favour of the $4.6 billion plan to fast-track the acquisition of new tactical transports for the Air Force even if that effectively means sole-sourcing of the Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules to replace some of our ancient Hercules. He at least is a Conservative not playing politics with this issue–unlike defence critic Gordon O’Connor.
    The Liberals, for their part, have shown how little they care for the Canadian Forces by delaying this acquistion as long as they have. They deserve little credit for suddenly, and reluctantly, taking action just before an election.
    Mr Hawn also points out that the costs of the acquisition will be spread over many years and thus are not as stunning as the $4.6 billion figure suggests. That figure includes training, maintenance, spares, etc. The actual cost at the plant for the 16 tactical transports would be $1.28 billion (16 C-130Js X $80 million, Canadian).

    Ukrainian-Cdns protest Ignatieff’s bid for T.O. riding
    TORONTO (CP) – Toronto residents with Ukrainian roots are protesting Michael Ignatieff’s bid to run for the Liberals in their riding.
    The Etobicoke-Lakeshore riding is held by Liberal MP Jean Augustine but she has reportedly resigned so Ignatieff can run for election.
    It was long thought that Ignatieff was being courted by the Liberals.
    The 58-year-old celebrated academic, journalist and novelist gave the keynote address at the Liberal Party national convention last March.
    Members of the Etobicoke Lakeshore Federal Liberal Riding Association claim the Liberals are trying to make it easy on Ignatieff at the expense of other contenders.
    The group also claims Ignatieff has no ties to the Ukranian community and worse, has actually disrespected the community’s heritage in one of his books. >>>

The world is full of them. In fact, it’s pretty crowded on the left these days. Fact is, their theories/philosophies usually aren’t applicable to everyday life.

One would think he had learned his lesson with one Liberal plant, now he’s fixing to spill his guts to another. Is there anyone who will take Peter aside and explain politics to him? Before he loses the election?

    I just picked John Reynolds at the airport and took him to the hotel. He was fairly busy on the phone for two reasons.
    First was the Liberals wanting an apology for the “organized crime” comment. Reynolds was going for the throat reading off the legal definition of an organized criminal organization. (Someone in the RCMP was nice enough to give him the definition according to the Criminal Code of Canada).
    Second, MP Gary Lunn’s riding is getting telephone calls from a telemarketer as we speak. The telemarketer claims they are phoning on behalf of Gary Lunn; then partway through the conversation states that Gary does NOT support Harper.
    The mistake they made was phoning Gary Lunn’s house; he got their phone number, is going to call the RCMP and the press… Very Happy
    Without sharing other campaign information we discussed, the party is going for the kill…

    Lets see what happens now that we can educate poeple with the blogs and the few Conservative talk shows in Canada to try to get some fair and balanced news out to the public, I see we lost another Conservatice voice with Michael Coran being booted on a phoney phoney charge.
