  1. Wow…seems like everyone was onto this news item. Just checked the Wikipedia entry for Sun News and they’re already saying that it “was” (i.e. already in the past tense) a news network and they’ve already got the closing date set for tomorrow.

  2. The report on the rcmp wrongdoing in the Hign River flood has been been released. It finds the force breached the law when it broke into private dwellings following the flood, ostensibly to rescue stranded residents but in effect they were searching for firearms.
The report doesn’t address how homes were selected for search but it appears that the rcmp had access to the long gun registry which was supposed to be destroyed?

  3. lets see CBC make up a 1.1 billion dollar oil revenue shortfall that the feds will suffer
you dont get much for a billion one.

  4. Yesterday, 3 Muslims were shot in Chapel Hill. The media, egged on by Islamic groups, was breathlessly waiting to label this a hate crime. But you are unlikely to hear anything more about this story because the perpetrator is a left-wing nut case.

I suspect that the principal reason for the news media’s reticence with regard to the Hicks case is not that he is an equal opportunity atheist. Rather, I suspect they are concerned about the fact that Hicks is a liberal. This has not been widely reported, for obvious reasons. Instead, some news sources have quoted this Facebook statement: “Some call me a gun toting Liberal, others call me an open-minded Conservative.” In fact, however, apart from the fact that he likes guns, there is nothing conservative about Hicks. Here are some of his Facebook posts and “likes”:

  5. I will miss seeing the penguins waddle across the ice flows.

A rescue vessel is rushing to free a damaged Australian fishing ship with 27 people aboard which has become trapped in 10 foot thick Antarctic ice.

Awesome. He MUST have been kidnapped, and they tinkered with his modesty and inherent human goodness. It explains a lot.”

  7. Beauty…
“By all means, send Brian Williams packing, but do not imagine that that
will preserve or retrieve one jot of the self-shredded credibility of
the U.S national media. They went from utter credulity in Vietnam to
complete defeatism, crucified the president who got seriously into the
war, and then crucified the president who saved the war, and helped
deliver Indochina to the North Vietnamese Communists and Khmer Rouge who
killed millions in the post-war massacres, the Cambodian Killing
Fields, and the flight of the Boat People. They tried to assimilate
Nicaragua and El Salvador to Vietnam; denied at every turn that Reagan’s
defense buildup and anti-missile defense would produce any progress in
arms control or the Cold War; never had the faintest hint that forcing
the U.S financial industry into trillions of dollars of under-secured
mortgages could lead to trouble; and have conducted a stentorian
hallelujah chorus for the most incompetent president since James
    Buchanan.”

  8. Remember science is always “settled:”

“The universe may have existed forever, according to a new model that applies quantum correction terms to complement Einstein’s theory of general relativity. The model may also account for dark matter and dark energy, resolving multiple problems at once.”
And, Margaret Wente says stop trying to discredit Trudeau, he’s doing fine on his own:
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-debate/bad-judgment-naked-opportunism/article22970176/
“A lot of people are sick of Mr. Harper, and desperate for an alternative. But Mr. Trudeau’s catastrophic judgment – and now his crassly naked opportunism – is driving them away. As one person who’s having second thoughts about Mr. Trudeau told me, “If I’ve got to choose between two equally unpalatable candidates, I’ll probably pick the steady one. Or, as a disillusioned Liberal put it: ‘We should have gone with the astronaut’.”

  9. Wente is a bit of an odd-ball to me. Sometimes, she writes quite reasonable articles, but she’s still a festering liberal.

  11. The astronaut was nothing to write home about. But he was better than the Hall of Fame goalie, who was bottom of the barrel.
