Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

It was good to see OX get the winning goal today. Gotta love my old Arsenal squad castoffs. The DM was making a case for him to start against Schitty, since he’s put in some quality performances against them. Would you start him, or bring him off the bench for a little offensive push?
PS – Klopp has made Henderson a much better player than I ever thought him capable of. So OX won’t displace him or Wijnaldum
I see where Pep sorta, kinda retracted his stupid comment. He can never get the better of Klopp, however “subtle” he thinks his needling is. He almost did retract, but just couldn’t bring himself to do it, even at the bitter end. Talking about the penalty Mane got called against Tottenham, he said if Mane said it was a penalty, and Klopp, and the referee, and VAR, then I guess I was wrong and it was a penalty … or not.
It’s interesting that the midfielders are the most unheralded unit on Liverpool, and yet Klopp has so many more options there. But OX did not replace Wijnaldum (who played) today, or Henderson (who was replaced by Keita). He replaced Firmino! So he got his goal from the center forward position. Surprise, Salah was the only forward NOT replaced in the starting lineup, though both Firmino and Mane came in for a bit at the end.
One of the reasons, I think, why Liverpool MF are less heralded is because of the fantastic job the outside backs are doing supporting the attack. It makes the MF more of a defensive position. Someone has to mind the store when Robertson and A-A are gallivanting on the other end line. But I think it is good for Henderson to have a more defined job. However, that may be why OX finds it harder to reclaim his old starting position because his forte is attack, but things have changed a bit since he was hurt.
Maybe Klopp can go all out and give OX the old Coutinho position of attacking midfielder, and have Henderson partner Fabinho as tight defensive midfielders, and give Robertson and A-A all that room on the outside. (Henderson rather than Wijnaldum for more reliable on defense.) That would be almost like two waves of attackers. But would you really do something like that against City, whose midfielders are very offensive minded, and can launch counters given the least incentive. We will see.
I am curious what the City lineup is tomorrow. Whatever Pep says, they are facing a weak side, and don’t need a full force. (Klopp didn’t start half of his outfield players.) Liverpool really got the best of the schedule here. They are home, and played on Tuesday. City has to travel to Italy and play on Wednesday. Their only relief is to rest the starters, except they have too many injuries and really have to dig deep.
Last year, in a similar situation (Liverpool was up by seven) I said the team that needs to win more would win. City did, but they were home. I hope Liverpool realize they need to win just as badly, being at home. Win and they can put City away, I think. Liverpool is done with the top six teams for the first round robin, but City still has to deal with Leicester, Chelsea, Arsenal, and your Sheffield United. I cannot believe they can emerge from that without dropping at least three points, probably more like five. 2-1-1 would not be a bad result going through that lineup. Then the question might be, can Liverpool get away from Leicester City?!
The DM article I read spoke of how Klopp observed no difference in training between OX’s shot power (and placement) than that of Salah. Klopp reportedly told OX, that he just lacked FAITH in himself. Lacked FAITH in his own shot at game time. And, he believed OX needed to unlearn Wenger’s MF training which frowned on MF’s taking shots as opposed to being suppliers. So, yeah … not surprising at ALL that Klopp subbed him for his central striker position. It appears as though Klopp envisions OX as a “withdrawn striker” (smiley face … my favorite position in futball!).
Schitty continue to show vulnerability in defense. However, Liverpool’s goal scoring has not quite been so prolific this season. It may come down whether Schitty can get caught out on counterattacks … or just simply disorganized in defense. If I were Klopp, I’d start OX as another viable scoring threat from midfield (not Bobby’s spot) and go at Schitty’s vulnerability. And perhaps this is a match when the outside backs/wingers/midfielders (whatever the hell you want to label them) play a bit more cautiously and allow the MF to take more of an attacking role. Klopp will surely understand that Sterling has a nasty habit of perfectly timed runs behind a pulled up defense … yes … he can even get behind the GREAT Virgil.
Schitty, however, also has some firepower on the bench with Mahrez … who opened the season a house afire … and has been frustratingly sitting while the two Silva’s have been making magic happen.
This match will come down to defensive lapses or mishaps. Hint: Ederson is always a candidate for some INSANE traveling outside the PA … *snicker*. I believe both teams come out swinging, with a possession edge to Schitty. Should be fantastically entertaining. Now, can you simply relax and enjoy the match!? You sound like a Liverpudlian native in your *ahem* enthusiastic support of The Reds.
Interestingly and very coincidentally, the NCAA MB #1 just played #2 yesterday, as well as #3 vs #4. Just so the schedule mandated for the opening games. Kentucky beat MSU, and Duke beat Kansas. All traditional powers, with regrettably the most traditional power missing. Not even in top 25. Hopefully we will have a renaissance as Kropp did for Liverpool. That’s why I am so *ahem* enthusiastic about Liverpool. The only one of my teams winning the ultimate prize, and I do consider winning the ECL the biggest prize. It’s like who remembers if you win the conference, it’s the Natty that matters in NCAA MB. (Even though in England, the EPL championship does matter a whole lot, and that’s the one that has eluded Liverpool for a long time. Longer than UCLA last won the NCAA MB.)
Also interestingly and very coincidentally, the erstwhile #1 and #2 (now #2 and #3) LSU and Alabama meet in a conference game Saturday. Very important game, though not necessarily for all the marbles. If you are a fan of all three sports, like I am, your plate is full this week, inclusive of Sunday.
P.S. The only HC who had gotten the better of John Wooden was your Pete Newell. He holds an overwhelming winning percentage over Wooden, and was the reason Wooden didn’t win the NCAA earlier, as Newell kept won the Pac championships, and you had to win the conference to qualify for NCAA those days.
Hey! My CAL BEARS won their opener against Pepperdine last night. Has CAL Basketball finallllllllly turned a corner with a brand new coach? Hey I’m a CAL fan … and the refrain from the CAL drinking song says … “We’ll win the game or know the reason why”. Yep, a lifetime of analyzing our LOSSES! Oh well …
For California, for California,
The hills send back the cry,
We’re out to do or die,
For California, for California,
We’ll win the game or know the reason why.
And when the game is over,
We will buy a keg of booze,
And drink to California
’till we wobble in our shoes.
Oh! And I’ve done my share of wobbling in my shoes …

Thanks, Nancy. That’s the “Cal” (University of California at Berkeley) drinking song. The ferry that they sang of took them I believe from San Francisco back to Berkeley. I went to UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) not that long after it was only known as the Southern Branch. As little brothers, we stole the colors from them. (But all UC campuses still have blue and gold). We stole the mascot from them. (They are the Golden Bears, we are the Bruins) We stole the fight songs from them. (No more. But the ones I know well from undergrad days were theirs. We only changed the words in “By the Pacific” of “Golden Bear” to “Bruin Bear.”) We even stole drinking songs from them. So I know that one well, though slightly abbreviated. As a result, I actually don’t know the not so “new” UCLA only fight songs word for word.
I must say … your theft of our Fight Song really chaps my hide. To hear YOUR band play OUR song when we play each other is simply beyond the pale.

“1940, UCLA Daily Bruin editor Richard Pryne acceded to a request by Earle Raymond Hedrick, provost of the school, to stop printing the words to the song (“Oh, they hadda carry Harry to the ferry . . .”) in the student newspaper because a branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union had complained about it.”
Oh those Temperance unions, imagine that!

Of course, by all means please don’t let me interrupt your discussion with Kenji. I’ve been following your sports reports.

Recalling that was very cute from a certain Canuckguy telling you and Miss Montrealaise something like that!
I had a good giggle!
Extremely cold temps for tonight!! For example, Moose Jaw is expected to bottom out at -19°.
Average low for that city on November 06 is -6.2°.
Why is the CBC not reporting on these record cold values??
Vote Liberal!!
There are 1.2 Billion reasons why.
Bottom line is… This message was not approved by Butts and Telford
In Calgary I was just out shovelling at -15 C …. no wind which is a blessing but very wintery out there this AM.
Of course all the talk is climate change …. what cold???
We are lied too.
Controlling the masses via fear is an effective weapon for our Establishment masters. That’s why their friends in the fake news get $595,000,000 of serfs’ money
They never report record cold temperatures — just record hot. For example when Paris had its heat wave last summer, temps in Moscow and the Czech Republic were record colds. Who knew? Weather extremes are associated with Grand Solar Minimum.
-20 when I left the trap shack this morning in the dark. Trying to get some meat to hang on the pole. It’s going to be a long winter. The river is mostly frozen. I crossed on the ice. It was cracking a bit but I didn’t go through!
The climate is changing. The ruskies have been warning for years that we’re in for the Big Chill. I think for once they maybe right.
the russkies? are they causing it? conspiiiiidacy theorists want to know !!!!

Excellent work! This article starts the necessary job of informing Westerners of how their tax money is expropriated for eastern interests. Westerners have to start a education process which fully identifies all revenue streams and the benefits received in return. Quite frankly this is work the CPC should have done for decades. They were prepared to sacrifice Western interests in hopes of forming national government. No longer near good enough.
At a minimum Western Canada has to start taking control of the revenue streams that are essential to forming a national government. Collect all forms of taxation and then remit on the basis of equity. Regional expenses that are paid to the east like the RCMP should be replaced by Western Canadian entities.
Sadly AB & SASK have to be the drivers in this effort. Here in BC there is a clear division between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island and the rest of the province. As the effort on the Prairies matures much of BC will join as will Manitoba.
This is how weak Provincial Premiers an governments sold out the citizens of each Province. Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements. This is what Alberta needs to focus on. When Provinces gave up their Constitutional control of Taxation they unbalanced confederation. And we ended up at Marxism.
http://faculty.marianopolis.edu/c.belanger/quebechistory/federal/taxrent.htm
Don’t forget, despite being outnumbered by the socialists and free stuff crowd, we do exist here on the island too. But I catch your drift.
Amongst other silly things here on the island, another example of socialism over common sense, is the ongoing studies and wishes of those who want to resurrect the E&N because climate change and road congestion. This would cost, in my estimation, a rebuild of the rail line due to age and lack of maintenance, new rail cars, and massive subsidies to keep the cost of ridership down. A one hour minimum turnaround from downtown, to move what, maybe 500 passengers? So that would be 1500 a morning? This is a slow speed rail service through a narrow RW. Trains would run empty thru midday, until the afternoon rush.
This runs through Langford, Colwood, VR and Esquimalt, basically on the wrong corridor whee the congestion really lies. This would be a colossal white elephant. Yet, every once in a while, a story pops up about how it needs to be done because Europe has trains, blather, blather.
This is just one small example of the ongoing wishful thinking here on the island, by those who deem no cost too big for anything, no subsidy too large on the backs of taxpayers…..T minus 6 years to getting outta here!

Meanwhile, the Democrats, by dint of stepped-up vote rigging and a bogus “Libertarian” candidate taking votes from Governor Bevin, have stolen the Kentucky governor’s mansion.
I think we can agree that the experiment in giving the vote to every hominid with a pulse has been a huge success—for the enemies of Western civilization.
Candidates don’t ‘take’ votes, voters given them and Bevin lost them fair and square. It’s a shame he wasn’t all bad but hey the Trump Effect’s a real b*tch.

I see the Chinese are finally going to buy our pork and beef again. Looks like the African swine flu has changed their minds. Hunger can change a lot, just wait until our policies start causing hunger and cold in Canada.
Notice how TruDOPE is trying to take credit for it, and the media is doing their best to project that too.
Funny, it was the Mop and Pail that said it was due to the Swine Flu, nearly fell outta my chair.
Freezing here in rural Ontario this morning, with snow on the way. Sure glad the media reports that global warming will be the main emphasis for Groper’s new cabinet. Meanwhile a reminder that Great Leader Blackie McBlackface will make a brief appearance for a photo op, as a Democratic Party delegation arrives to give him instructions. No questions from the media will be allowed. He is still officially hiding.

Quick fixes: get rid of PE. And school trips. Both are a total waste of time.
and recess … and music classes. Hell let’s throw the kiddies right into jail.
It is interesting to note that most of the money spent on education goes to salaries. It is impossible to reduce salaries as salaries can only be increased.
Imagine if other workers held society up for ransom as much as teachers.
Imagine if teachers had to work a full year like every other working person.
Teachers hold sway. Government funded day care.
Actually lets INCREASE PE & make it mandatory right up to Gr 12 while getting rid of all the extraneous BS taught – Concentrate on READING – Writing – Grammar – Mathematics (old style cause it fkn well works), Science and REAL History.
If we want to get rid of anything..? Let it be “Public Service” (an oxymoron), UNIONS – and their Communist manifesto. Nothing but Legalized extortion and Leftist Indoctrination and the ROOT of, 95% of the Leftist Evil in the Western Hemisphere.
I note that in my life I have yet to see demonstrated their oft quoted and used term of “Solidarity”….to me said Union that supposedly “serves” its members should have negotiated Salary cuts so as to save those jobs right..?? AS if.
DE-CERTIFY the Lot.
Something I would fight tooth nail for in a NEW country.
PE is a complete waste of time. There’s no reason for it at all.
PE gets them off their fat asses to get some well needed exercise. Maybe if a few of them learn to actually look after themselves healthwise, spending on healthcare could actually come down, not that the unions would allow that though.
Actually the union could borrow money to pay their members more. They can pledge union dues as collateral.
When I did research for Wild Rose. I found AHC management charts. There were 50 plus pages of VP’s, Directors and managers of this or that. Pretty much all Political Appointments to the Gilded Hog Trough by the PC Party of Alberta. And everyone cursing the Doctors and Nurses for raising costs. I can well imagine the line up in Alberta Education at the Gilded Hog Trough. Club them like Newfies Club Seals.
– And it’s TEACHERS they’re laying-off. “You see how mean your rayciss misogyniss homophobe Premier is? We have to get rid of TEACHERS because of him – YOUR CHILDREN getting less edoocayshun!!!” Not a word about all the hangers-on they could be shedding instead – no virtue-signalling in that, and it wouldn’t buy them any voter sympathy.
“Re-elect the NDP! They’ll make it allllll bedderrrrr…”
I’m getting my share of Alberta news, hopeful that the province will remain a spur in the side of our Blackface McDuncoff. Jason Kenny is proposing to create an Alberta Pension System, similar to that in Quebec. This will require a massive transfer of wealth from Ottawa back to Alberta. It does not require “permission” from Ottawa. Brilliant chess move UCP. Just make sure the provincial government cannot tap into those funds or influence the investment holdings. Leave that to the professionals – not the politicians. Look brilliant, be brilliant.
https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/braid-alberta-pension-a-serious-idea-that-would-flip-out-the-feds
“Withdrawing from CPP is a provincial right. It can be exercised without constitutional or legal challenge.”
Needs to do the same with EI Funds. The Liberals under Cretin and Martin stole 54B from that pot, to pay for Liberals programs. Even tho Ottawa was to hold the workers funds in trust. Get out of all Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements agreements. This is what funds it all. The Province legally can collect all tax and dole out to Ottawa.
http://faculty.marianopolis.edu/c.belanger/quebechistory/federal/taxrent.htm
“Needs to do the same with EI Funds. ”
Before Liberal judges they had to pass Constitutional amendments to gut the constitution. 91.2A gives the federal government exclusive powers in the area of unemployment insurance. The other pre-Liberal judge amendment was 94A about Old Age Pensions. Since then the federal government assumes jurisdiction for anything and it is ignored by the courts.
EI is the best example of a loser welfare state. You want employment insurance? Buy your own, jerkoff.
Buddy, this is why the Maritimes vote Liberal without fail. Qualifying for Pogey is a way of life, and the Liberals are more than happy to oblige!
“The Province legally can collect all tax and dole out to Ottawa.”
Not so much. Exclusive Federal powers 91.3 – The raising of Money by any Mode or System of Taxation.
http://faculty.marianopolis.edu/c.belanger/quebechistory/federal/taxrent.htm
Not so much ‘brilliant’ as ‘obvious’. The kind of thing that if Kenney didn’t do would prove he has no interest in actually protecting Alberta. Let’s wait until he actually delivers before singing hosannas and even then, it just means he *might* be sincere.
Sorry for the double post. I got a captcha error and the post disappeared. So posted again.
TVO is the Ontario Government’s publicly funded television station. Since the fall of Kathleen Wynne, it has become more left of centre and makes one yearn for the objectivity of the CBC. Case in point, enjoy this gem of an article about abortion access in Ontario which refers to “pregnant men”.

“Bebawi, he added, was worried about two companies that had been created to allow SNC-Lavalin to pay bribes to partners in Libya and bonuses to executives without the firm being linked back to the transactions.”
This is basically what the head of Ornge did (helicopter ambulance service in Ontario) – setup parallel companies that were “off-book” enough so executive bonuses didn’t show up on the publicly accountable company books. Funny how that was swept under the carpet so quickly.

And now for your amusement, “How Crazy Is The NDP” episode for today. Hitler Doug Ford released his Fall economic update today. The socialist media were excited as NDP leader Comrade Horwath explained that there is no deficit, Ford is lying about that. And because of Ford children in schools are drinking water with lead in it, and have to sit in classrooms with no heat. And children are crying in their mother’s arms in hospitals because of evil Ford. Horwath and the media, encourages everyone to fight for socialism!!
Ford caved. He delivered an NDP-ish budget.
Blackie will hold a brief photo op with the premier of P.E.I. Thursday. No questions from the media will be allowed.
Another faceplant for the education system in Canada. The Canadian War Museum steps in it regarding Canadian history.

Any Canadian that sees this as a small oversight is not paying attention or is a complete moron. It is not enough for the Liberals to eviscerate the Canadian Armed Forces but now they are full on trying to eliminate Canadian history. Remember the video released this year supposedly commemorating the accomplishments of Canadian Forces in WWII that actually showed German troops. That was also just an oversight. Seems that the Liberal government could teach Putin a thing or two about re-writing history.

CCR one of my favorites, Picked SuzieQ because that summer was bikes, and crazy. Here is another band I liked then Steppenwolf. That summer I chopped a 47 HD Knucklehead with springer front end etc. Mainly because of this song. Years later I thought boy you needed your ass kicked for ruining a classic. I was 20. No brains. Nancy I look at young people today and I feel bad for them. They are so lost and afraid and isolated from the world and each other. I feel blessed that I lived so free and wild, I guess I was off the reservation my whole life. I knew no fear my whole life. I had no concept of failure. When I would lose a round, I was not beat. I just got up wiped my self off and got back in the fight. Giving up was never an option. Failure at something was just another lesson, don’t make the same mistake again. And keep on trucking.
“Up around a Bend”… a CCR’s catchy tune….
You’re lucky to be alive. The words are meaningful in this song for you, I’m sure.
Glad to hear your stories.
The kids today are oblivious. Ignorance is their bliss.

Well yes. Lucky to have survived. I did not settle down until I held my 1st child. I grew up that night.
I then put that energy to a different purpose. I would still take risk, but the risks were career oriented. I worked my tail off and family was always first, last and foremost.
I had lean years and good years. I ended up managing and supervising some fair big projects, building a 800 acre cattle ranch from scratch, playing with horses raising 4 kids, and now have a batch of grandkids to figure out.
I put away my wild side somewhere along the way after the night my son was born. My father always said a man never really grows up until he is about 25. I believe he was right.
I never told my kids about my wild youth, but they found out bits and pieces somehow.
I was a one woman man my whole life after I settled down. I always believed that if you could not keep your word you weren’t a man. And live by your code. Keep your damn word. Even if it brings you pain and hardship. And when you are wrong apologize and mend your fences.

Vancouver is going to ban fireworks.
Stick a fork in em. They’re done.
To a Kulak. Years ago when I was young, an older Ukrainian man whose 1st name was John used to ride to work with me in the winter.
He survived Stalin as a boy in the Ukraine. And Hitler in the WW2. To say he had it rough would be the ultimate understatement.
He told me of his life as a boy, growing up on a grain farm in the Ukraine. How the Communists came and robbed them and drove them from their land.
He said each day the Communists came and took from them until nothing was left.
Just his brothers and sisters standing in the yard with his parents and grandparents and the clothes on their backs.
The last day the Communists came and just told them to leave, get out. They went out in the fields gathering bits of grain left from harvest. Whatever they could find.
His father was a broken man. They made a mud and wattle shelter in some forest by a field. And tried to survive.
That first winter, his parents died of starvation and cold. John took his brother and sisters into the nearby village to survive.
He said everyday the commissars came and cleaned out their rooms of every scrap of food.
Everyday a horse and wagon came to take away the dead. He lost the rest of his family by spring. He was alone.
He helped me to appreciate Freedom, my Freedom, my Liberties. He told me many stories and even this one I am leaving out a lot of detail.
After surviving Stalin his next challenge was the Nazi’s as they over ran the Ukraine.
To an old Friend RIP John. You escaped Stalin and famines, and Nazi Labor camps and thought you were finally free.
I thought we all were free too. Here in Canada John. But looks like we were both wrong. The fascists the Commie Rat Bastards and the NAZI picked up your trail and followed on the old DP ships that brought you to the Promised Land.
Your Canada. You used to be so proud to say I AM Canadian. In your broken English, with a big woft of garlic breath.
Me thinks In today’s Canada John you would be looking for that old .303 John that the Limey’s gave you so you could fight Commie Rat Bastard’s again.
To John, your friend…

Very good Nancy. Makes me want to bbq some shashlik and drink tea from a samovar. And put home made jam in my tea and on my crepes. Ha Ha Ha. John had a samovar and his wife made the most wonderful borscht.
Yum! Haven’t had borscht in decades.
But I do make a mean pot of chicken soup with just whole naked breasts, onion, celery, rutabaga, carrots, potato, bay leaf, salt and pepper in water to a slow boil.
The meat breaks up easily and it is the healthiest because there are no preservatives nor junky stuff like fat. One gets a general sense of well being after a bowl of this. It is classic Acadian and I learned how to do this when I lived in N.B.
C’est bouillon!
Their pronunciation- word comes out as:
“booyawn!” Ha! Just like the Cajuns pronounce it.
