    Hubie empathizes with the victims(maybe Jian did him too) and pledges to change the CBC systems (huh).

  13. The CBC has now updated their latest ‘Gnomeshi’ story to include a bit of Hubie’s statement.

    There is still no link to the letter, and there certainly will never be a CBC reporter asking him why he used the word “empathize”.
    No media (outside of SNN) will ask why his letter never made it on to the CBC site. Or why the head of the CBC chose to release this admission/apology through a PR firm on a Friday night.
    The CBC will say that Hubie did issue a statement shortly after the allegations surfaced. Something like, “The allegations,if true,are deeply troubling.We cannot speak about them at this time because of legal blah,blah,blah.”

  14. Given some of the allegations coming forth about Ghomeshi’s treatment of women it’s hard to believe they haven’t charged him with assault. Hitting people on the head or choking them could lead to serious outcomes if he gets carried away. With these allegations he sounds like a real sick and dangerous person for any woman to be around.
    If he sues CBC for millions, that’s us, for firing him over such admitted behaviour it’s hard to imagine he could win in a court of law.

  26. Like many of you I have been watching the implosion taking place at the CBC this past week and the old adage “Death by a thousand cuts” comes to mind. Perhaps this will come to pass. In the meantime I wonder how many celebrities will jump to the defence of the next CBC big-wig that will be outed in their private investigation. Judy Rebick, Hedy Fry, Sheila Copps, and Elizabeth May couldn’t back-pedal fast enough to distance themselves from Jian. Like the BBC fiasco with Jimmy Savile this scandal is going to take down a few more CBC’ers before it runs it’s course, and like most purges there will be a few innocents sacrificed on the alter if they have shown the least indication of impropriety. Get out the beer and popcorn cause Big Ears Teddy is going to provide us with a lot of adult entertainment over the next little while.

    There was. I replied and re-posted about Hubie’s Friday night ‘public’ statement. .
    With-in 10 minutes of writing the 2nd comment,the CBC, and it may be a coincidence, have buried that story and erased all comments on it.
