Another Deprived Youth From The Broad Strata Of Society

More on an item mentioned here last week – an arrest has been made in the failed train bombing attempt in Germany;

A LEBANESE student suspected of trying to paralyse the German railway network with a bomb concealed in a suitcase appeared in court yesterday, as a huge police hunt for a second suspect continued.
The 21-year-old man was remanded in custody by an investigating judge in Karlsruhe, southwest Germany, on charges of attempted murder, belonging to a terrorist organisation and attempting to cause an explosion.
The suspect was an engineering student in the north German town of Kiel, where he was held on Saturday morning.
[…]
The suspect, identified only as Youssef Mohammed E, is accused of being at the heart of a plot to blow up two regional trains simultaneously on July 31. Investigators say that only a flaw in the construction of the propane gas bombs prevented a disaster.
There are parallels with the alleged London plot to blow up airliners and the Madrid train bombings. The plan, hatched in Germany, however, lacked the necessary sophistication. The propane gas was supposed to be detonated by an electronic device attached to alarm clocks in two suitcases. A mixture of petrol and oil in the same suitcases was intended to spread fire through the carriages. But the mechanism failed.

I caution readers not to use examples such as this to generalize about the broader engineering community – the vast majority of moderate engineering students are peaceloving people who are as appalled at acts of terrorism as the rest of us.

  1. Probably a member of H’Bollah, the western authorities are doing an A-1 job of flushing this kind of trash out before they strike.

  2. “…remanded in custody … on charges of attempted murder, belonging to a terrorist organisation…”
I wonder what terrorist organization that would be? It is very relavent these days, specially as the person in question is of Lebanese decent.

  3. I disagree; an engineering degree is very expensive and is causing hardship.
Most engineers that I know are heavy beer drinkers and their tuition fees cut into their drinking money. I’ve also noticed the engineering faculty have bad teeth and this must be impacting their self-esteem in the classroom where the root causes begin to take hold.
So I recommend free root canals for the Profs and more beer for the students.

Heh. Stop it, yer killin’ me…
Anyway, it appears the man was not only a failed terrorist, but was likely to be a serious failure as an engineer, too, if the twit couldn’t even make a propane gas bomb explode.
Kind of sad that some of these Islamic terrorists are really nothing more than foolish, dangerous, children. Hmmm…Now, there’s a potential essay…
    🙂

  5. Seeing the age of most of the recent “terror” suspects that have been apprehended I have to wonder if we are dealing less with an organized, structured global terror network as much as we are seeing a bunch of kids who are acting alone pr in isolated “cliques” in “copy cat” terrorism as a matter of going extreme with youthful sophomoric anti-establishment anger….instead of “the man: we see Muslim jeuveniles on fumbling personal Jihads which lack the cold calculations of sociopathic terrorists who were raised outside the oppulance of middle class European or American suburbia.
Most of these attempted terror acts seem pretty cartoonish to me, and the local police ( tio their credit) seem to easily defuse them ….like the one in Canada where it was so open an RCMP operative was in on the plot and actually delivered the fertilizer to the suspects….these coddles suburban Jihadis aren’t remotely in Carlos the jackal’s class.

  6. Western Brands: McDonalds, IBM, Microsoft, GE, Apple, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Exxon-Mobil
Asian Brands: SONY, Toyota, Samsung, JVC, BENQ
Muslim Brands: Hezbollah, al Qaida, Hamas, Taliban
Dare I ask… what positive contributions are Muslim nations or societies making to the world today?

  7. Last year I couldn’t spel engineer, not I are one. Doh!
Whatever happened to the good old days when engineering students put cars on roofs, had Lady Godiva contests and built automated beer fridges???

Indian police say they’ve foiled terror attack

BOMBAY — Police killed a Pakistani and arrested another in a shootout Tuesday that authorities said foiled a terrorist attack in India’s financial capital a month after a series of train bombings that left more than 200 people dead.
Mohammad Riyaz Nawabuddin was arrested by a police anti-terrorism squad after detonators, a pistol and ammunition rounds were recovered from the car he was driving, police investigator K.P. Raghuvanshi said.
Raghuvanshi said the squad was acting on information that terrorists were in the city and planning another strike.
Nawabuddin led officers to an abandoned building where he and his associate had been hiding in recent days, said police chief A.N. Roy.
A second Pakistani national, identified as Mohammad Ali Osama, was killed in the building after he opened fire on police who had ordered him to surrender. An automatic rifle and ammunition was recovered from him, Roy said.
Raghuvanshi said the arrest and shootout prevented another terrorist attack.
Officials did not specify whether more suspects were at large, but said police have been on alert since the bombings.
“We are trying to get an elaborate security umbrella in place,” Roy said. “Based on intelligence inputs and information we have been looking for people and that’s how our team nabbed Nawabuddin.”…..

  10. When a faith advises that the only SURE WAY to make it to heaven is to die in jihad, (and killing people, as long as you say Allah before you die, qualifies) then for exactly that long will you have monsters like these roaming the streets of the world.
And monsters they are, make no mistake about that. They just look like people, but they are monsters, cut from the same cloth as Gasey, Olsen and on and on the disgusting list goes.

  11. Stop making like a Chamberlain with your defending of these godless engineers. With their pinky rings…I swear they’re queer too.

  12. You’ve nailed it, Richard.
Let’s examine the distinctive Muslim accomplishments in the service sector, too: terrorist, gutblower, jihadi, bomb maker, beheader, kidnapper and instant rent-a-rioter.
There isn’t one positive contribution to the arts, sciences, politics, literature, religion, and human condition that can be said about this crowd in the last thousand years. Not one.
Why, oh why, are Muslims increasingly becoming a staple in our kid’s textbooks for serious examination as anything other than a failed culture and religion of intolerance? How much longer can this multi-culti pc textbook fraud be ignored?

  13. Alas, it’s not only the Muslim youth. Today’s headline in the Swift Current Times says it all: “Radical Mennonites Illegally Farm Three Sections of Land — Without Subsidies”!!! Heaven help us. IS NO ONE SAFE???!!!!

  14. Now when I went to college, this terrorist trash masquerading as an engineering student would have been mysteriously hoisted up the flag pole and left to hang there for a few days….
…too bad the cops got to him first.

  15. WE are, we are, we are, we are,
    We are the Engineers!
We can, we can, we can, we can,
    Demolish 40 beers!
Drink rum, drink rum, drink rum, drink rum,
    And come along with us!
For we don’t give a damn for any damn man,
Who don’t give a damn for us!
(Bellowed to something roughly resembling the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic, John Brown’s Body lies…..etc.)

  16. Quig’s posting reminds me of my university days when I’d hang out with engineers and some of them really did try to drink 40 beer. The closest anyone came was a friend of mine who managed to drink 36 beer over the course of a day.
Normally I’d post a link, but I seem to have forgotten where I found this little list of islamic nobel prize winners.

The Jews are not demonstrating with their dead on the streets, yelling and chanting and asking for revenge; the Jews are not promoting brain washing the children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non Muslims.
The Jews don’t hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics; the Jews don’t traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.
The Jews don’t have the economic strength of petroleum, nor the possibilities to force the world’s media to see “their side” of the question.
Perhaps the world’s Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

    uh,
    1) abdus salam considers himself muslim: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/physics/laureates/1979/salam-bio.html (he’s ahmaddiya, which sunnis consider heretical, far more than shia)
    2) you seem to be including christian arabs? (medewar and corey) why not include raman and chandrasekar since they are south asian and many south asians are muslim too 🙂 LOL.

Let’s all stare at that mockery for awhile and digest the absolute corruption of the leftist politically agenda driven Nobel committee. Like the UN with their mythical peacekeepers, how many Ruwandans died?, the hypocrisy and mental abominations of the left are secondary only to the rabid terrorist’s hypocrisy and mental abominations.
Thank God the internet has provided us a forum. Killing the beast requires taking back history and telling the truth.

  18. What do you think would happen if one of the bombs those terrorists worked on went off while they were making it or carrying it out in their suitcase? KABOOM ONE LESS TERRORISTS

  19. “What do you think would happen if one of the bombs those terrorists worked on went off while they were making it or carrying it out in their suitcase? KABOOM ONE LESS TERRORISTS”
    This is actually quite common.
It happened to the IRA fairly routinely, it often happens to Palestinian bombers and the insurgents in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

  20. Those crazy engineering students, always pulling off pranks…or trying to blow up hundreds of people. What a bunch of knuckleheads.

  21. Penny, the fact that you don’t know the significant contributions the Arab world provided to modernity is a shame. There’s some fascinating history there, and it only makes the current condition of the Arab world even more tragic.
I’m no friend of the silliness that is a lot of modern Islam, but you might like to do a little reading about its history. It’s pretty interesting stuff.
For example, it is fairly widely accepted that the fuel for the rennaisance came from the great wealth of knowledge the Arabs amassed and carefully stored from the ancient world. While Europe was building grass huts and getting over the fall of Rome, the Arab world was as highly civilised as Rome ever was, and more advanced in many areas.
We owe our numbering system, some decent mathmatics, most of our records of Ancient Greece (plays, poetry, epics, etc), and a good ammount from Rome, Large-scale architecture was ‘relearnt’ of the Arabs, Astronomy was re-learnt, deductive science, much contemporary medicine, civil society.. the list is big.
Do a little research. It’s a fascinating and tragic story.
