  1. From Charlie LeDuff’s book “Detroit: An American Autopsy”:
“Detroit reached a peak population of nearly 1.9 million people in the 1950s and was 83 percent white. Now Detroit has fewer than 700,000 people, is 83 percent black and is the only American city that has surpassed a million people only to contract below that threshold.
“The only difference between Detroit and the Third World in terms of corruption is Detroit don’t have no goats in the street.”
Read Foseti’s review of the book here. Lots of interesting stuff.

  2. Another incident of the ‘science was not settled:
The Gardacil vaccine for young girls was not tested, but was promoted and encouraged for many years ‘just in case’ the girls became sexually active…and had several partners. Most parents went along like sheep and allowed the kids to be vaccinated of course on the assumption that the schools and health professionals knew best.

  3. Hardly serious news, but this crossed my Facebook feed: Dude puts out gay country song and video, pockets of the internet spazzes in glee, and the idiots at the Daily Mail call him a “rising country music star”:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2357730/Meet-Steve-Grand-Americas-openly-gay-country-music-star.html?ico=ushome^editors_choice_six_of_the_best
I dunno what planet they come from, but I have friends in crappy nobody bar bands here in Vancouver that have more Twitter followers, facebook fans, etc. than this kid, but I guess we’re all stars now.
Anyway, it’s the second coming of Rebecca Black, point and laugh while you can.
And how nice of the press to plan ahead for the inevitable failure and frame the issue as nasty conservative country music fans who won’t accept him as opposed to the reality, which is he was an ignored opening act at a local dive bar a week or two ago, and when the PC hype moves on in a week or two, he’ll still be where he always was because this sort of gimmick crap doesn’t work.

  4. EBD, so Mandela was every bit the hater as his wife Winnie. nobelprize.org says the Nobel Peace Prize 1993 was awarded jointly to Nelson Mandela and Frederik Willem de Klerk “for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa”
Just as ironically, the 2009 prize was awarded to Barack H. Obama “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”.

  5. It’s funny that people who frequently claim that they need guns to fight against oppression that doesn’t actually exist, would find fault with people who were fighting against real oppression. Mandela spent 27 years in jail because he stood up for the rights of his people. White South Africans fought against giving Blacks full rights for decades. Black South Africans are still horrifically impoverished, and will be for decades more. Frankly, White South Africans are lucky it went as peacefully as it did. Their anger is understandable. Your’s is not.
That said… how do we know this song is being translated correctly? Does it mean all Whites? Because I see White people there front and centre… clearly it doesn’t mean all of them or I’m sure they’d find fault with it.
Once again… SDA, the stupidest kids on the block.

  6. The truth about the video has rarely been revealed. In one of the original versions that aired, the police warned the guy with the dog to turn the volume down on his car radio so they could hear their orders on their own radio system. He was parked close to the two officers, he openly mocked them and laughed at them while filming them.
It is too bad for the dog, however I do believe that the police have a right to shoot an animal that is threatening their safety. Do you really believe that in a situation where several police are called to scene, having idiots running around the sidewalk is helping anything or anyone?
My Dad owned a garage, I recall the same idiots trying to walk under the tow cable of our truck as we were winching a rollover pickup from the ditch back onto the highway. When the Mounties told them to get out of there, they started screaming human rights, which is a crock. You have to be at an accident scene to see what the public is like. I won`t go into the idiots who steal from the debris after the accident.

  7. PS: My piece on the dog shooting incident was in replay to ”scar” at 10:29 PM.

  8. Typical of you John.
And how many Rhodesians do you know? Those are the people (black and white) that lived in a beautiful country that fed all it’s people until terrorists like Mendela and Mugabe ruined it.

  9. John, did you bother reading the info underneath the YouTube clip? Or were you afraid you might lower your ignorance quotient?

  10. John thinks communists are good people. It was common knowledge that Mandela’s wife Winnie was a communist, but I did not know Nelson also was one. I perchance talked to a black car rental agent in Toronto in April, formerly from Zimbabwe, who did not like the communist Mugabe’s takeover of Zimbabwe.
Paul Weston admits to being a racist.

  11. Face it. You guys don’t believe Blacks are equal to Whites. This is very, very clear here every day. The Boers were a bunch of racist swine. I’d want to kill them too if I was a Black South African. Nobody can expect to operate a government where you have second class citizens. Anybody who does, must accept the fact that those people will want you dead unless you’re prepared to change your ways. AND furthermore, that’s exactly how WE would act, so stop pretending it isn’t. To call a guy who fought against an oppressive regime a “terrorist” is just plain ‘tarded.
As for Communists… yeah, that doctrine would probably make sense to you as well if you were forced to work for sh!t wages to make other people rich.
Does that mean I support communism? Far from it, but I’m smart enough to see the things that cause it to gain acceptance within a population. Want to keep it at bay… don’t screw workers over.

  12. John, most of us here believe that hatred is not the way to get ahead. That’s why you hate us.
I also recommend you check out Kate’s earlier post ‘Progressives, Liberals and Race.’

  13. Does it mean all Whites? Because I see White people there front and centre… clearly it doesn’t mean all of them…
    Gee, token whites…

  14. John, was Mandela’s then-wife a terrorist? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stompie_Moeketsi
“As for Communists… yeah, that doctrine would probably make sense to you as well if you were forced to work for sh!t wages to make other people rich.”
As P.J. O’Rourke wrote, “Ideologically, Marxism will continue to make enormous inroads in underdeveloped countries. After all, when you’re living in hopeless poverty and filth and there’s a political philosophy that offers you hopeless poverty and filth, it only makes sense to go with the flow.” But tell me, John, how are most black people doing in South Africa now? Rich, I suppose, now that whitey can’t steal from them?

  15. John boy, if you disagree with SSM you will be seen as a “second class” citizen by your countrymen and the judiciary and many of your neighbours. If you disagree with abortion on demand, you will be seen as radical. Nobody says that blacks are less important in the eyes of God than are white people, but I wouldn’t want to live in the South Africa of today, and in fact there are many of them and Rhodesian (Zimbabwean) professionals (white) driving cabs in Canada because they couldn’t bear to live under the governments in those countries, even though they were born there. The dog deserved to die, and pitbulls should be banned as they are in Ontario. (Am I giving credit to McGuinty here?)

  16. Black Mamba, here’s an answer from Steve Biko’s girlfriend, Mamphela (a qualified doctor who also became a managing director of the World Bank): “We are back now to the same sense that we feel afraid. Afraid to lose jobs, afraid to lose government contracts, afraid to be killed – people have disappeared. We are now a country that has failed in all the key indicators of a successful democracy. ….”

  17. It’s interesting that so many folks are more than willing to go on and on about the racist whites of South Africa and what a nasty bunch they were and for reasons that elude me, absolutely refuse to revisit South Africa now that it’s been under black rule for a few decades. Like Rhodesia, South Africa was part of the African Bread Basket. They are both failed states that can no longer feed themselves, murder and rape are off the charts and there is an organized genocidal movement in place that is capable ONLY of brutality and has nothing else to offer. How ya’ liking South Africa now? By the way, the majority of Blacks in South Africa are not native to the country.

  18. John, look up “ANC necklace” sometime. Many South African Zulus, police, and perceived collaboraors were made to wear them when they were caught by the ANC. In fact, Winnie Mandela was a huge fan of making the rivals of the ANC wear them.
And ANC necklaces have made a resurgence in the last few years again in South Africa. Instead of being politically motivated, black South Africans are now making immigrants to their country wear them. Yes John, black South Africans are persecuting other blacks for moving to South Africa. Bet you never thought they would do that, huh?
Oh, and if you are wondering what an ANC necklace is, it’s a car tire forced around the wearer’s body, filled with petrol, and set on fire! So, between torching people and mass rapes, if you are still thinking that South Africa is better off with the ANC in power, you are a f**king psychotic idiot!

  19. Anybody who thinks that brutality, imperialism and racism is limited to just one group, people, region or religion hasn’t studied history. Close to hand, check out Shaka Zulu’s history. Then do some research as to why the Bushmen live where they do.
It would be interesting to see that alternate universe where the white man never colonized Africa. Pre-white arrival, we know of wide-spread slavery, human sacrifice, genocide, cannibalism, despotic kings and so forth, pretty much across the continent. (That’s not, BTW, intended to slam the blacks; it’s about where the whites were rather earlier. Such behaviour has been seen virtually everywhere.) Left alone, would black Africa have developed into a liberal secular democracy or democracies?
Second question. Despite having left behind railways, telephone networks and such, things that were certainly not there before they came, the whites generally didn’t do a whole lot of good for black Africa. However…
Excluding Liberia, which was under black rule by 1847, the independence shift really got going in the late 1950s and early 1960s. By 1968, 45 years ago, the following sub-Saharan nations were all independent: Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Swaziland, Zaire and Zambia. (That doesn’t include South Africa or Zimbabwe as both were still ruled by a white minority.) Bottom line is that more than 75% of sub-Saharan countries have been independent for two or more generations.
Most if not all of these new countries started out with a nominally democratic government and many of them had fairly strong economies, or at least the basis for such. Some had incredible potential, even if only from the sale of raw materials. Yet, with few exceptions, the pattern is very similar – coup, dictatorship, racial discrimination, institutionalized plundering, economic stagnation, a disintegration of the rule of law, further repression, civil war, more repression.
Why is that? I don’t believe that there’s something in the ‘black genome’ (which is a silly thing anyway). What has led the majority of nations in an entire continent to do face-plants in almost every column – economy, civil rights, democracy, etc?
Third question. Given that most countries on the continent have been essentially free and under black rule for almost half a century, how long can blame for the present misery in Africa be fairly laid at the feet of the white man? At what stage is it going to be Africa’s own fault?

“…if you are still thinking that South Africa is better off with the ANC in power, you are a f**king psychotic idiot!”
That about sums idiots like “john” up.
I just wished dense “liberal” nuts like him would pack up and go live in the slums of what South Africa has become for both white & black.
Course they never do, it’s all talk.

  21. I’m continually surprised at the number of white South Africans I meet almost daily here in Saskatoon. The best and brightest of all races are leaving Africa (and Toronto, but that’s a separate conversation) as quickly as they can, from what I’m seeing here.

  22. I think SDA regulars are too harsh on young Johnny. It is not his fault that his mother didn’t teach him to respect adults :)))

  23. I’m not sure if “young Johnny” is a bitter black man, a Babtist preacher or Union management. One thing I do know is that he’s quick to tell other people what that are. Racist.

  24. Uh, John, you’re wrong: Commenters at SDA do believe that “Blacks are equal to Whites,” which is why we call Blacks on their execrable behaviour, just like we call Whites on the same behaviour: McGuinty, Wynne, Layton, Chretien, etc.
I’ve have lived and worked in a predominantly black community and was, frankly, surprised at the racism of many blacks — towards Hispanics, Whites, and other blacks.
There is a very pronounced hierarchy in the black Caribbean culture, which is why they have different names to reference how either black or white/black someone is. Quadroon, for instance, is a designation for someone who is one-quarter African; mulatto designates one black parent and one white parent; octoroon refers to a person with one-eighth African ancestry, etc.
White people do not make these designations. Black people do. And — a surprise to me — lighter black skin in a black community was more admired than darker skin.
It’s a total lie that only Whites can be racist — and that commenters here are racist. I actually think that it’s in everyone’s DNA to be suspect of those who don’t look like us and, taken to an extreme, to actually treat badly others who look different from us. Fallen humanity is prone to racism but calling someone who is a different colour on their behaviour is legitimate and is by no means always “racism.”

  25. djb:

I’m continually surprised at the number of white South Africans I meet almost daily here in Saskatoon.

Yeah they’re going to Saskatoon like crazy. I know Congolese here in Winnipeg that travel there for work. As for best and brightest.. I met a guy last year who told me he spoke 6 languages, and he didn’t count English because he didn’t feel he was that competent in it (he told me this in fluent English).

  26. Plainzdrifter “It is too bad for the dog, however I do believe that the police have a right to shoot an animal that is threatening their safety. Do you really believe that in a situation where several police are called to scene, having idiots running around the sidewalk is helping anything or anyone?”
The guy didn’t look all that dangerous and the Suidae were on their way home. According to some online posts, that cop already cost the city a $ million for a past episode. A cop should be trained to handle a situation without killing someone’s dog. The idiot showed aggression toward the dog and when it reacted, he shot it. Perhaps a city that needs 8 cop cars to do a simple arrest needs to hire an animal control officer and call them when they are over their heads. Also remember that cops sometimes accidentally shoot bystanders. I also can’t help but wonder if the guys skin colour wasn’t the cause of his troubles. The guy knew the black kid drill for getting arrested so I suspect the cops around there, in general, are racists. Black kids in Canada should be taught how to be arrested if they visit the US or they are likely to be shot like the dog. In my part of the country cops give out tickets for noise offenses.

  27. An out of control dog should be shot. End of story. The kid was being an a$$ and deserved what he got.
As if some hacker group has any credibility. Idiots.

  28. I agree. One of the doctors in the clinic we go to is white South African and our family doctor at the same clinic is black. We also have a black granddaughter who by the way is above average intelligent and quick witted.
Many members of this site also supported Herman Cain, love Thomas Sowell and other blacks.
John just has the same attitude that John Weston talks about in the link above that I posted, in other words anyone that is not left is a racist.
    Well said batb.

  29. I’m with Plainzdrifter and stradivarious all the way. Dude was walking around, all amused-like, at what was clearly a major police event (there was what, eight or ten cars?) like it was his personal amusement park, or a street party, or something. He’s an idiot.
The poor dog was just doing what dogs should do — defend his owner — but the fact is he did clearly lunge at one of the officers at one point, and was kind of hovering around after that. They can’t assume that he wouldn’t do it again and maybe shred a leg, or sever an artery. It’s a bloody Rottweiler.
I feel bad for the dog, but tough shit for the owner.

  30. This one has better cadence than “Kill the Bores” which shocked me for its lack of catchy rythyms one comes to expect from black music.

  31. All races are racist John. It’s natural to a groups long term survival. Only idiots/leftards pretend otherwise.

  32. Until I went to Southern Africa, I was totally unaware that the blacks were late comers to that area. Yeah – we weren’t taught that in school were we? The Dutch arrived a few hundred years ago and the ancestors of the blacks who are there today came down from central Africa much later. The only inhabitants of Southern Africa when the Dutch arrived were the Drakensberg and Kalahari bushmen.
So those bad white immigrant settlers took the lands away from the blacks who had yet to arrive.
Sitting here now awaiting the onslaught of the lefties…..

  33. I can tell you’re being sarcastic, EBD. I’m perceptive that way. But look, if the dude didn’t want his dog shot, he shouldn’t have been out walking around in public as if he had a perfect right to be there. Taking photographs is illegal, as we all know. And as we all know too, the best policy when armed is, if you feel nervous for any reason at all, shoot to kill.
Also, and I know John will back me up here, that dumb guy was black. Those cops looked white to me. I get the sense he was flashing gang signs. You can’t prove he wasn’t. So, you know… extra careful.

  34. Yeah, he had a perfect right to play deafening ‘music’ during a police operation so they couldn’t hear their radios. He had a perfect right to be unable to control his dog from attacking police…

  35. The only time I can see shooting a dog like that is if it were a small child that were being threatened. It happened to me once, and there isn’t a lot of time to second guess. Speaking of which..

D.C. police are investigating whether a man will face criminal charges for shooting a pit bull that was attacking a child in his neighborhood.
The incident unfolded Sunday afternoon, after three pit bulls attacked an 11-year-old boy as he rode his bicycle through the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest, according to a police report.
When the man, a neighbor, saw the boy being mauled by the dogs, he went inside his home and got a gun. The man killed one of the dogs. The gunfire attracted the attention of a police officer in the area near Eighth and Sheridan streets, where the attack occurred. The officer responded and shot the other two pit bulls as they continued to attack the boy.

    Why is that?”
I don’t know all the reasons but one reason is that most of African society was and still is tribal. This has some far reaching effects. First, tribal societies are (in general)small territorially. However much larger country boundaries were set up by Europeans according to European spheres of influence and frequently without regard to tribal boundaries. Tribes hostile to each other were put into a country and expected to get along. And they did, sort of, while the white man was their common enemy. Also, Religion was imposed upon these tribal groups. Sometimes, as in the case of Christian vs Moslem religions, they added further friction. I’m certain there are other reasons as well.
