  1. No offence or anything Robert – have been enjoying your posts, but where’e EBD? I’m feeling the need for an entirely unpredictable cultural enrichment vignette.

  2. Marco, he’s away. I’m guessing you would prefer a Reader Tips each evening than nothing at all?
Feel free to e-mail me any & all video suggestions you have. I’d be more than happy to use them instead of the ones I find on my own.

  3. The #1 most overrated song of all time – Imagine
[[But that’s not what makes this song so horrible. For that, we have to examine the lyrics, which are not just ignorant, but Soviet-style ignorant. It’s a communist, atheist song, pure and simple. This could be the Barack Obama campaign song – but it would express too clearly what the redistributionist left wants for the world: no borders, no God, no meaning, no values, and no wealth. And it’s being penned and sung by one of the richest people on the planet. Despicable as art; despicable as politics. Imagine the world without it. Aren’t you smiling yet?

  4. So Robert Mugabe might be dying. In Singapore for some reason. I’m at Kim Jong-Il levels of upsetedness over this one.

  5. “So Robert Mugabe might be dying”?
Oh No! I shall begin preparing my jig of sorrow right now.

  6. Help, if you can:
At SDA, when I close a link or the comments, using the white cross in the red box at the top right—as usual—SDA completely disappears and my desk top shows up. There are no backwards arrows at SDA.
I have no idea how this change occurred. It’s annoying and time consuming! Can anyone help me out?

  7. Clicking on a link on the main page creates a new page, lookout. That’s why there’s no “back”. I can’t help you, whatever is happening is due to the setup of your browser.

  8. Many thanks, Kate. I was pretty sure the problem’s at my end: being a complete computer nerd, I’ll need to get some outside help.
Anyway, I can still easily access SDA and move around at the site, though it takes more time. It could be worse—not being able to get here at all!

  9. eastern paul, thanks to you too! (My browser seems A-OK with the other sites I frequent. A computer mystery for me . . .)

  10. 2/3 of hybrid buyers won’t buy another one…and are probably cursing themselves for buying the first one…
    http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/10/11101762-hybrid-owners-unlikely-to-buy-another-one-study-shows?lite
Hybrid sales have been surging as fuel prices take their latest run towards record levels. But the news might not be nearly as good as it would seem if a new study by R.L. Polk is any indication.
Despite previous sales surges tied to past petroleum price hikes the U.S. hybrid vehicle market hasn’t been able to maintain its momentum and the Polk study apparently explains why. After living with the high-mileage technology, nearly two of three hybrid owners wind up returning to a more conventional vehicle when it’s time to trade in.

  11. I guess free electricity does exist after all:
    http://www.h-online.com/security/news/item/Smart-electricity-meters-in-Puerto-Rico-made-to-look-foolish-1518321.html
According to a report by US journalist Brian Krebs, the near ubiquity of smart meters in Puerto Rico is matched only by the frequency with which they are hacked. Krebs cites a 2010 FBI report, according to which spot checks by an unnamed electricity supplier found that around one in ten smart meters had been modified. The company estimates the resulting losses at up to $400 million (around €300 million) per year.

  12. jcl: from the link:
“Women understand who the target is,” said Elliott in the column. “Can you think of a single citizens’ initiative that would target a white guy like you?
“You’re not the target. I’m the target. Ethnic minorities are targets. Gays and lesbians are targets. We’re the targets of those kinds of things.”
Is that pathetic or what? NDP-ish!
