  1. William Blair, the Chief of the Toronto Police Service, has released an official statement (PDF) on the matter of Rob Ford’s call to 9-1-1 dispatchers which says, in part –
“I also feel it is necessary to set the record straight about the conversations. There have been no complaints by any members of the TPS about the 9-1-1 conversations. The content of those conversations has been misrepresented by what are claimed to be ‘several anonymous sources,’ presumable from within the TPD, in which case I have to set the record straight. I have listened to the three emergency calls. The mayor did not use the word ‘bitches,’ attributed to him by those ‘several anonymous sources.’ The mayor did not describe himself as the original account claimed.” (emph. mine)
    (h/t BC Blue)
Meanwhile, the CBC still has that article up — “Should Rob Ford apologize to 911 operators?” — in which he is accused of calling the dispatchers “bitches.”

  2. Remember the horrible H1N1 pandemic that wiped out so many last year? Yeah…didn’t happen.
But the media was whipped up into a frenzy do their best to frighten the crowds into getting their vaccine….all based on the ‘research’ by this ‘expert’ at the CDC.

  3. From Ann Coulter. More Liberal insanity.
“Finally, did Flint use any money from Obama’s last trillion-dollar stimulus bill to hire more police in order to prevent rape and murder? No, Flint spent its $2.2 million from the first stimulus bill on buying two electric buses.
Even if what Flint really needed was buses and not cops, for $2.2 million, the city could have bought seven brand-new diesel buses and had $100,000 left over for streetlights.
Rather than reducing the rate of rape and murder, blowing money on “green” buses is likely to increase crime, since people will be forced to spend a lot more time waiting at bus stops for those two buses.
It’s going to be a long wait: The “green” buses were never delivered because the company went out of business — despite a $1.6 million loan from the American taxpayer.”

Been to all 10 provinces, 30 or so US states and 19 countrys total.
The French are hands down the best drivers I ever shared a road with.

  5. EBD said, “Meanwhile, the CBC still has that article up — “Should Rob Ford apologize to 911 operators?” — in which he is accused of calling the dispatchers ‘bitches.'”
And did you notice that the CBC tried to minimize the significance of Blair’s comments? After days of the National running reports on the story, complete with reporters interviewing his political foes, political scientists accessing the damage to Ford’s credibility (as they saw it anyways), PR people doing the same, and even Torontonians angry with the mayor having been interviewed, they decided to only do a 10-second blurb tonight, buring it deep into their newscasts, with no report whatsoever filed, just that blurb I mention spouted from the news desk and then quickly onto other stories… as opposed to placing the story at the begging of their newscasts in days previous when they felt it was they mayor, and not them, under fire.
We know that if Blair had said the opposite, that Ford had fibbed, that that too would’ve been just a blurb, buried 20 minutes into their newscast… yeah right.

  6. Other Stan @!0:00 PM raises an interesting issue.
Last evening, I rec’d an automated call from the local NDP candidate asking who I would vote for in the upcoming prov elaction.
Of course, I said Sask Party, but that got me thinking:
    What is the better strategy?
    1) Answer truthfully, and supress their optimism?, or
    2) Support them, and see their inflated expectations crash and burn?
[It’s only one vote out of a bunch, but]
    What do you think?

  7. Jon (11:34): I’ve been taking a break from watching The National for a couple of months – I can’t keep away from Sun TV news – but I greatly appreciate you filling us in. There aren’t nearly enough conservatives keeping an eye on them, IMO.
Over the last five or six years I’ve repeatedly seen them doing exactly what you described: launching unsubstantiated prime-time attacks on conservatives (like Neil MacDonald’s assertion that Sarah Palin was the real mother of her daughter’s baby) and then, after the accusations are proven (elsewhere) to be false, either eliding or burying deep in the broadcast, the “update”. The false smears are big, breathless, prime-time news, while the corrections are delivered sotto voce.
The Ceeb’s reporting is the exemplification of unprofessional, biased journalism.
Btw, feel free at any time – please – to let us know what they’re up to. I consider any such update to always be a legitimate and worthy Reader Tip.

  8. Excellent article on how conservativism is staring the Occupiers in the face…
**Peeking through Occupy Wall Street’s cloudy drum sessions, group speeches, and celebrity visits are a few rays of reality’s sunlight. These glimmers of the real world show that even the campers of Zuccotti Park aren’t immune to Margaret Thatcher’s famous declaration that “the facts of life are conservative.**

“The chief’s unprecedented statement left both Ford loyalists and Ford critics calling on the CBC to apologize to the mayor while the broadcaster repeated that they have “multiple, credible, well-placed sources” to back up their report … Outspoken Ford critic Councillor Adam Vaughan, a former [CBC] journalist, said the CBC should say it’s sorry. “They owe (Ford) an apology,” Vaughan said. “They stood behind that story as a corporation (Thursday), that has serious implications. [And] Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti said the CBC “should apologize directly to (Ford’s) children.”
Not surprisingly, the CBC fails to mention that IT is being asked to apologize…. seems only when critics demand such of conservatives that they play up such an angle to the story. And they are as DEFIANT as ever.

    Right out of the chute…
“Toronto police Chief Bill Blair has waded into the controversy surrounding Mayor Rob Ford and his 911 calls earlier this week.”
So in spite of the latest development, the CBC persists that it is still FORD (and not THEM) that remains the subject of controversy.
And without shame, they conclude their “report” with this gem…
“Only Ford can allow the release of the 911 recordings, and there have been repeated calls for him to do so.”
    FIRE. THEM. ALL.

  12. Michael Moore’s at it again. After being outed by the new media (who else) about not being part of the 1 percent he posted on his blog this lie…
**…What remained went into a simple, low-interest savings account. I made the decision that I would never buy a share of stock (I didn’t understand the casino known as the New York Stock Exchange and I did not believe in investing in a system I did not agree with)**
    Except there’s this…
After all, in 2005, Peter Schweizer in his book “Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy” included a copy of Moore’s schedule D from one of his tax filings showing that the schlockumentarian at one point owned almost 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 shares of Sonoco, more than 4,000 shares of Best Foods, more than 3,000 shares of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 shares of Bank One, and more than 2,000 shares of Halliburton.

  15. I just used the “Report abuse” function at letter #1 to send this message to the CBC:
“10.29.11: It’s CBC’s LIBEL that I’m reporting here as abuse. Remove that Ford used the word, ‘bitches’. Why, CBC? BECAUSE IT’S A DAMNABLE LIE. And your trespass on and assault of the mayor is despicable. It’s the CBC that needs to apologize—and stop wasting the hard earned money of the Canadian taxpayers, most of whom have long tired of both your puerile propaganda and your bullying.”
I’ll go to the regular web site to file my complaint, as well. And I’ll write the PM. He’d damn well better start to clip the wings of the national disgrace that’s the CBC, which treats him and his government with the same kind of disdain. Harper’s not the “90 pound bullied boy” anymore. If he doesn’t use his considerable advantage to rid the beleaguered taxpayer of this left-wing propaganda machine, he’ll altogether lose my respect. (So far, he’s already lost some.)

  16. I’ve sent this to Stephen Harper:
    Prime Minister
I’ve just sent the following (in italics) to the CBC Ombudstoady:

I just used the “Report abuse” function at letter #1 to send this message to the CBC:
“10.29.11: It’s CBC’s LIBEL that I’m reporting here as abuse. Remove that Ford used the word, ‘bitches’. Why, CBC? BECAUSE IT’S A DAMNABLE LIE. The CBC is a national disgrace, with my money. Your dirty little game is altogether transparent. Professional, objective journalism? No way. Make that partisan, left-wing shilling. If it were possible for puffed up narcissists to feel shame, I’d suggest that your elitist, navel-gazing, news “celebrities” try it for a change.
Fortunately, I gave up CBC TV news for Lent some time ago. The marked improvement in both my mood and blood pressure convinced me to make my resolve permanent. It seems that most Canadians have made the same choice. That the CBC still thinks it’s a respected, professional source of news is delusional.
As CBC considers itself unaccountable and above the fray, I’m wondering what tired excuse you’ll drag out this time to defend the indefensible . . .
Prime Minister, I’m one of the Conservatives’ and your long-time, base supporters. The CBC has insulted, lied about, and belittled me, good Canadians like me, and our beliefs—with way too much of our money—for way too long. If you don’t use your Conservative majority to seriously downsize the CBC—or, preferably, privatize it altogether—my support for the Conservatives will be considerably less than it has been. I’m incensed by James Moore’s obsequious cheer leading for the CBC: among the Conservatives’ base supporters, such grovelling submission is very damaging to the reputation of both you and your party.

  17. Boots — Michael Moore might be a hypocrite, but he also has some important things to say. I just finished watching “Capitalism, a Love Story.” Did you know about companies taking out insurance policies on their employees with the hope that they can make some money? So maybe some of his examples are exaggerated, but the corrupt bailout of the banks is an historic scandal and some legislation needs to be put in place to stop capitalist abuses that seem rampant in the US. Their governments are corrupt, so I am not sure what hope there is for them — perhaps Tea partiers or Ron Paul. In any event, it’s a mess down there and Moore elucidates some of the problems.

  18. Good letter, lookout, to both the despicable CBC and to Prime Minister Harper.
Here’s a comment about the CBC that I cross-posted at BCF after discovering from the horse’s mouth himself, Kirk Lapointe, that the CBC Ombudsman doesn’t deal with the Entertainment (sic) side of the Corrup … er, I mean the Corporation:
To add insult to injury, not only was the last CBC Ombudsman, Vince Carlin, a former CBC employee, so is Kirk Lapointe, the present ombudsman, who was a host on CBC Newsworld for six years.
How in God’s name can a former employee be non-partisan — or even appear to be non-partisan? Either every principled journalist in Canada has been, at one time, an employee of the CBC — “principled” and “CBC journalist,” however, don’t handily go together — or else the CBC’s picking their ombudsmen from too small a gene pool. Doesn’t inbreeding usually lead to genetic abnormalities?
Genetic abnormalities at the Mother Corpse; so that’s what’s going on …
