To help you combat the insanity that is American politics these days, Mark Steyn comes to the rescue with his priceless wit:
- King Barack of Decadence sure seems to have problems with optics of late. If memory serves, isn’t Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad an optometrist? Maybe he could help.
- WGN’s Milt Rosenberg has an extended length interview with Steyn and even gets him to read a few passages from his new book. A most telling quip by Steyn: “What does 24/7 mean to public sector employees in Greece? They work 24 hours per week, 7 months per year.”

He’s an ophthalmologist, actually. Shocking that a man whose training consists of swearing an oath to “do no harm” can send his military and security apparatuses to murder so indiscriminately.
$535 fine for an 11 year old? Wow, that’s bad. I understand and support the law that protects the woodpecker but the application of that law by federal jerks leaves much to be desired…
The Assad’s helped out with the war on terror in the beginning.
Now the US is throwing them under the bus.
No one will trust the US as an ally at the rate that the Bammy Admin is pulling “stuff”.
I call “calculated move” to “set the world on fire and mold it to their heart’s desire”.
2012 isn’t coming fast enough.
Milt Rosenberg is still on ??? Cool!!! I’m not a Cubs fan and haven’t had a reason to tune in to that station in well over a decade, but I’ll have to check him out again. He was always good for intelligent CIVIL discussions. Thank you.
Paul, be sure to listen in to the callers near the end. One leftist twit complained about Steyn criticizing Deat Barack. In response he tried to compare Obama with Rupert Mutdoch in England. Huh?!? These cult members will do & say most everything to keep their Savior in power next November!!
In addition to Mark taking the Obama supporter completely apart, he gave the best prescription for the actual salvation of the US when he explained that the hope for America was actually those millions of citizens who actually work and revere their country took to the streets to let it be known they know what Obama and his cohorts are doing and they intend to stop him. Yes! Those very folks who are vilified every day by the democrats and the media-The Tea Party-ARE the hope of the future and the means of saving what is left of the country!
Excellent point about the Tea Party protesting about less government.
More Milt Rosenbergs in university would go a long way in reversing the decline of higher education.
Pursuant to Steyn’s article: Something tells me Michelle Antoinette would be really annoyed if she were turned away from a german restaurant because a)they were full and b)nobody recognized her, as recently happened to the King and Queen of Sweden. (Don’t panic, “Press reports said the royal couple and their entourage managed to get a pizza on the market square”.)

I’m partway through Steyn’s new book…Can’t put it down…I even seem to enjoy it more than America Alone because it covers in detail the whys of western decline and I keep smiling in acknowledgement…That`s exactly how and what I think!
His analysis and juxtaposition of the POTUS-child and the realities of today`s western social motifs is a thing of beauty and a true bulls eye…Here`s an excerpt:
“Within months of his inauguration, I found a lot of Americans saying to me sotto voce that they had no idea the new president would feel so “weird“. But, in fact, he`s not weird. He`s WEIRD in the sense of those students in the behavioral studies: Western Educated Idle Rich Deadbeat. He`s not, even in Democrat terms, a political figure-as Bill Clinton and Joe Biden are. Instead he`s a creature of the broader culture:there are of people like Barack Obama, the eternal students of an unbounded lethargic transnational campus for whom global compassion and the multicultural pose are merely the modish gloss on a cult of radical grandiose narcissism.“
“…Obama is not just a product of his time, but THE product of his time.
After America, like it`s predecessor America Alone, is a must read.
