This is like the watergate burglary. For months the break-in was big in a very small circle. Until slowly it percolated out into the national and international consciousness. I suspect this scandal will propagate in peoples conscious much more quickly. But it will mean the end of AGW as an issue in time.
What I wonder is whether it will mean the end of repect for the environmental lobby in toto. And the global rule effort.

Could we please employ the correct term when referring to Mann, Hanson et al? They are “scienticians”, not “scientists”.

Yes it’s in the blogosphere forever, certainly to the dismay of the complicit MSM, particularly the Canadian MSM.
Give Lorne Gunter in the Edmonton Journal a hat tip for at least a tentative attempt to make Canadians aware of the corrupt nature of the “warmists” but the internet has been at the forefront of this story for days, and sadly it may well be into the future because no Canadian TV newscast has touched on the climate fraud bombshell.
They (Canadian MSM) are more worried about Afghanistan Taliban prisoners feelings being hurt in than UN manipulated climate fraud .
UN AGW Tax = Madoff writ large.

Looks like this is how AGW will die:
1. The media will claim the files are forged, or irrelevant, or private (which we’ve seen already, e.g., at http://brothersjuddblog.com/archives/2009/11/paging_the_ombudsman.html ).
2. After that fails, they will fall back to what they learned in grade school, viz., that what really matters is that they were pure in heart and working for a good cause, so a few errors of fact are OK (already seeing that as in here: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/candance-moore/2009/11/22/la-times-changes-its-mind-science-doesnt-matter-climate-bill ).
3. As things collapse around the defenders, they will resort to more desperate and shrill ad hominem attacks on those eeeeevil oil companies and their lackeys.
4. The final stage, when you’ll know AGW is dead, will come when the environmentalists come up with a new and even bigger Apocalypse-scenario to replace global warming.
