Two weeks ago, the country’s biggest left-wing political grouping, the Labor Party, which has responsibility for integration as a member of the coalition government led by the Christian Democrats, issued a position paper calling for the end of the failed model of Dutch “tolerance.”
It came at the same time Nicolas Sarkozy was making a case in France for greater opportunities for minorities that also contained an admission that the French notion of equality “doesn’t work anymore.”
But there was a difference. If judged on the standard scale of caution in dealing with cultural clashes and Muslims’ obligations to their new homes in Europe, the language of the Dutch position paper and Lilianne Ploumen, Labor’s chairperson, was exceptional.

Actually, particularly worthy of note is the hint of a change among the politicians in Holland as well, as they finally realize what a mess they have created for themselves.

Don’t worry about the dutch. They’re hiding tens of thousands of young men in their cellars, waiting for the invaders to burn themselves out, and kill each other. Once the smoke clears, they’ll give them interest free loans to buy up land in the middle east, and convert it to productive dairy farms.
Its finally dawned on them , they have sold there heritage & Nation to others for warm self righteous good feelings, washed in selfishness. Totally not appreciated by the ones invited to the party. I wonder when the panic sets in as they view the population figures ? Realizing there a dying people that left a democratic legacy to hate mongers who abhor all their works? Barbarians with a fixed future.

But seriously, tolerance is only as good as what is tolerated. If we tolerate the mistreatment of women, violence, refusal to aid disabled people because of their dogs and outrageous demands then maybe we ought to rethink the policy that would allow those things to go unchecked.
I’ll be impressed when the Dutch legislate some concrete measures to implement Labor’s new change in attitude. Utterances are cheap and easy when you are fishing for votes.

I also believe you’re looking at the barest beginnings of a 180 on immigration by the Left. Everybody is bored with hating the Jews, and even dumber-than-a-bag-o’-hammers Lefties are having real trouble putting militant Islamists in the role of hegemonic victim of the Imperialist Capitalists. Excellent – multiculturalism is like the internalization of war. Instead of an external enemy occupying one’s land, the same effect of loss of sovereignty and historic identity is achieved by an external population moving in, refusing to integrate and insisting that its ideology and identity be given ‘equal’ status to that of the native inhabitants. Disastrous.
Remember that in Canada, this ideology of multiculturalism which gives primacy to the equal status of other cultures, is enshrined in our constitution in the Charter of Rights.
The Australians have already gotten wise to this internal destruction of a nation, and all newcomers, even short term visas, must sign a document attesting to their agreement that the Australian values of democracy, the rule of law, freedom of speech, equal rights, equality of women – and the English language – must be accepted by the newcomer. Canada should do the same.

Why? We’ve hardly got the geographical proximity to the immigration source or the numbers in the Muslim immigration problem that plagues Europe. After 9/11, trust me, any chance of mass Muslim immigration died in the US. Most American Arabs are Christians. I can’t speak for the situation in Canada. At 6% of the population and outbreeding the Dutch, ditto France, also carrying their Muslim religious baggage of intolerance to non-Muslims, it’s pretty simple that Europe has a big mess on its hands.

My guess is that the real problem the Dutch left has isn’t the influx of Muslims and their failure to integrate into Dutch society. It’s the “outflux” of ethnic Dutch taking their money and their brains with them. Replacing the “makers” with “takers” simply won’t work. And the Dutch aren’t the only ones with the problem.
No, I think the real problem the Dutch have is that they have moved the multi-cult concept to its highest ideals and allowed their government-funded school system to fund religious/independent schools on the same level as the public school system. In doing so, they gave up the opportunity to integrate immigrant children to Dutch society.
The Dutch problem is that they were too trusting and too tolerant.

This is the same situation across Europe, and our MSM and Liberal elite hides it from us all.
What on earth would posses any sane person living in Canada to think that we can import Muslims and Islamic ideologies and then escape the same fate as shown in the videos above? If you think we could, you are either mentally unsound or a traitor to your country. Either way any Canadian politician that advocates this kind of fate on its people needs to be removed from office at the very least, or jailed!
While things may be less worse on this front here in Canada, we’re not exactly scot-free of the perils of official multiculturalism.
One problem, I believe, is that this “M” word means different things to different people. Conduct a random poll of 1,000 Canadians, asking them what precisely “multiculturalism” means and I bet most will say something akin to, “Oh, you know, having different ethnicities in your country and then having great new restaurants.”
I wish I were kidding, but I’m not!

Robert W- That’s exactly what it means to most people. Check out one of the numerous “cultural events” in our major cities. The theme is always centered around food, and to a lesser extent, dance. I’ve yet to see a be-heading demonstration at any of these events, but it’s something that might be useful for introducing us to our possible future.

dp, you are right about multi-culti, most of us see similar cultures like the Chinese as prosperous and welcome citizens. We may comment on East Indian massive communities in Brampton, Ontario but ignore or keep away from these areas. It only hits home when we see areas that our parents and us grew up in are now filled with women in bags or headscarfes and scary looking guys in beards almost overnight.
These videos are coming to neighbourhood near you if you live in the big cities.
The same comments are said in every Western country. “Why are our politicians and bureaucrats allowing muslims to flood our countries?” “Will our countries somehow be better, well, no, then again, why?”
Speaking of teachers, here’s a brief video of a ‘headmistress’ of a Saudi funded British school, defending the use of Saudi text books that refer to Jews as ‘monkeys’ and Christians as ‘pigs’.
Despite hard questioning from the interviewer, she continues to insist the words are taken out of context and refuses to pull the books from the curriculum as in her estimation, other parts of the book are quite ‘useful’.
