Brooks on O’Connor.
How large are celebrity homes?
I want an apology from First Nations for the millions (upon millions) of deaths caused by their genocidal introduction of tobacco to Europeans. Then – woohoo! – restitution, baby!
Sin. Heresy. We keep telling you it’s a religion.

  1. These celeberties live in homes that take up acres and acres of land that was once wildlife area where DEER,RABBITS BIRDS and other critters roamed and there was lots of trees then these same celebrties give big time ads for the various eco-wacko groups and yammer about GLOBAL WARMING and DISAPPEARING RAINFORESTS and other such poppycock and the celebrties can still blabber about WE HAVE ONLY TEN YEARS LEFT TO SAVE THE PLANET and they have been yammering this poppycock since the 1970s

  2. The real story is the hypocrisy of leftoids, and the environmental destruction that ensues when they embark on their “back to the earth” building practices. As a former utility lineman, I spent a lot of time in the boonies stringing cable to new homes. I remember one particular order(her and I debated at a mayoral race, and she was as leftoid, tree-hugging as they come)The road into the house was about 2 miles. They needed 14 poles for service(14 dead trees). The destruction to the environment was massive. Generators pouring smoke into the air, garbage everywhere, trees cut down, a total mess. The wildlife displacement was amazing. Yet, this idiot saw nothing wrong with the enviro-carnage. Moonbats in birkenstocks were prancing around like so many fruits, it was quite a disturbing scene. Over my ten year stint, this was repeated over and over again. Back to nature idiots destroying the nature they claim to want to preserve.

  3. Bhkkdfmt from the MSM/Slop-Pail.
Who does Slop-Pail quote as its “expert”?
    The Librano$$$$$$$$$$$$

  4. One thing Gordon O’Connor is not is a slick, slimy Politician, with quick answers to snap questions by smat-ass media twits. He is what you see, a serious rather no nonsense Military man with over thirty years service to his country and obviously a great deal of knowledge on military matters.
His short term as Defence Minister accomplished the important task at hand while the Opposition hounds and Media hacks chewed at his heels constantly from day one.
The hacks and hounds won, Harper had to get rid of the distraction, we know who the losers are, the Military liked General O’Connor.
Maybe we should concern ourselves with brainless MSM hatchet wielders and just plain vacuous Opposition of all stripes who are attempting to disrupt and run our elected government.

  5. “I want an apology from First Nations for the millions (upon millions) of deaths caused by their genocidal introduction of tobacco to Europeans. Then – woohoo! – restitution, baby!”
I was all set to go off on a good ol’ “How come it’s always white people apologizing for stuff?” rant when I read the following at “Red Jenny”:
“The descendants of cannibals in Papua New Guinea, who killed and ate four Fijian missionaries in 1878, have said sorry for their forefathers’ actions.”
Which of course prompted the following comment from a militant atheist reader:
“Too bad it was only four of them!”

  6. You must remember that moonbats and leftards do not want to see a military person leading the military. In the eyes of a leftoid, any person who voluntarily wears a uniform must be brain damaged. They just cannot fathom any person ever putting their life on the line for something they believe in. Hence, the hatred of O’Connor. In the eyes of the leftards, he must be some kind of bay murderer. Oh sure, they will claim it had to do with his limited lobbying activities, but the reality is that he(like myself, my brothers, my uncles, my cousins)willingly served his country and was willing to die(if necessary). Compared to the empty, meaningless lives of most leftards, they just cannot comprehend the concepts of duty and honor. Too bad, the troops lost a good man. MOONBAT IDIOTS! GO ARMY!

  7. Celebrities.
I think to be fair we should only be critical of the celebrities that are hypocritical. I have no problem with them if they live in a mansion and don’t criticize the rest of us for our more modest lifestyle.
    Tobacco.
That’s hilarious. I’ll be waiting for my check.

  8. I agree with Liz J
It’s hard to know for sure what the real motivations were but I thought that O’Connor was doing a good job.
I do know some reservists – and there is definitely a new sense of pride and purpose in the CFs – they are starting to stand tall again. I also think that the average Canuck has a new found sense of pride in being a Canuck based on what we are doing in Afghanistan – upgrading our equipment – asserting authority in the Artic, etc.

  9. The MSM/Newsweek unmasked: knowingly publishing lies; disguising lies as facts to a credulous audience.
The mask ripped off by a “columnist” from Newsweek itself.
“the story was a wonderful read, marred only by its being fundamentally misleading.”
    …-
From the other side of the battlefield, Al Gore and Newsweek coordinated an assault on a few skeptics with all kinds of guilt-by-association accusations. They allege that a few scientists were offered $10,000 (!) by Big Oil to research and publish evidence against the theory of manmade global warming. […]
It didn’t help matters that the magazine’s own columnist, Robert Samuelson, published a follow-up article saying the allegation of bribes offered to scientists “was long ago discredited” and that “the story was a wonderful read, marred only by its being fundamentally misleading.”

  10. …the Military liked General O’Connor.
I’d be careful making blanket statements like that, Liz J. I know a good many folks in uniform who are quietly glad to see O’Connor out of the Defence portfolio. While it’s true that O’Connor isn’t a “slimy politician,” as you put it, nobody in the CF wants to have to fight the political battles necessary for the CF to be a proud and effective force – they want a Minister of National Defence who can do that. They’ll just handle the soldiering, thank you very much. I hope MacKay can deal with the political side better than O’Connor did.

  11. MSM had a hardon for O’Connor from the getgo and succeeded in having him moved.
Canadian Forces can thank O’Connor, Hillier and Stephen Harper, the best friends they (CF) ever had in living memory .
Chalk O’Connors shift up to MSM.

  12. Zip, good for you for volunteering. Everything I’ve heard about O’Connor suggests that he’s a good and decent man.
that is the job of Foreign Affairs and the PMO.
I’m going to disagree with you on that point. I think that creating and maintaining support for the CF and for this mission is one of the tasks that falls squarely onto the desk of the MND.

  13. HERETICAL THOUGHTS ABOUT SCIENCE AND SOCIETY [8.8.07] By Freeman Dyson:
That was a good read ……..
Comments on Gordon O’Connor… I think it’s appalling that anyone should have to defend or created support for our forces or the job they do!
The belief that this is somehow a job requirement of the defense minister is something that has grown out of the efforts of the lib/left MSM … a myth for moonbats and the simple.
The Defense minister’s job is to do one thing and that is to ensure that our military is prepared to take on whatever role they can be foreseeably asked to do!

  14. The belief that this is somehow a job requirement of the defense minister is something that has grown out of the efforts of the lib/left MSM … a myth for moonbats and the simple.
So now I’m simple because I expect a politician to actively manage the political aspects of his job, instead of leaving it to his soldiers.
    *sigh*
Makes me wonder who the real simpleton is.

  15. Skinheads jailed for beating Native Canadian gangster/tourist
“Two skinheads involved in the beating and robbery of a tourist have been jailed.

The Canadian, of native American ethnicity, had been in Wellington two days when he approached the heavily-tattooed Borland and invited him and his friends out for drinks.

While drinking, Mr Kawerninski told them stories about how he was a gangster in Canada and showing them scars he said were from bullet wounds.

He rode back to McPadden’s Lower Hutt flat with the men. They stopped enroute to buy bourbon and coke.
Arriving at the flat, they smoked cannabis, Mr Kawerninski passed out, and was woken by four or five men beating him up.
A pillowcase was put over his head, his legs were bound, his belongings were taken and he was dumped in a remote location.”

A Really Inconvenient Truth: Kyoto Protocol Destroying Ozone Layer
    Newsbuster
Here’s something the mainstream media are guaranteed to ignore: “The biggest emissions-cutting projects under the Kyoto Protocol on global warming have directly contributed to an increase in the production of gases that destroy the ozone layer, a senior U.N. official says.”
Didn’t hear about this? Well, how could you, for although Reuters published its article on the subject Monday, no other mainstream press outlet thought it was newsworthy.
    Not one!
Alas, there were even more worrisome revelations in this Reuters piece that folks like soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio would find very inconvenient if media actually did their job and reported them (h/t Benny Peiser, emphasis added throughout):
In addition, evidence suggests that the same projects, in developing countries, have deliberately raised their emissions of greenhouse gases only to destroy these and therefore claim more carbon credits, said Stanford University’s Michael Wara….-

  18. The Forces have been sadly underfunded and practically sidelined and watered down as a strong military force, hardly capable of defending us as a sovereign nation let alone do our share as a part of NATO with our Allies.
Peace Keeping was the operative rant. Peace Keeping in places where there is no peace to keep is not what’s needed at this time. Making peace means a fight, and our forces were ill equipped under the Liberal/Left for decades.
Now we have a government taking our Military seriously, putting their money where their mouth is to bring it up to it’s once proud standards.
O’Connor has gotten the ball rolling in that regard, he knew what needed to be done no doubt in collaboration with Hillier, the best CDS we’ve had for some time when it comes to tell it like it is straight talk.
There are many like Damian, on the Left of the spectrum, who wouldn’t understand the need for a well trained and well equipped military. For them it’s Peace at all costs, even if it costs us our sovereignty. That’s an example of lacking the capacity for reasoned thought.

I’m laughing so hard at you right now, Liz J! I volunteered knocking on doors for my CPC candidate in the last two elections. And I’ve actually served in the military, as well as running The Torch, a blog devoted to covering the Canadian Forces. So much for me being a leftist who doesn’t understand the military.
I should really forward your comment over to the guys at CEFCOM and NDHQ I’ll be going drinking with when I’m in Ottawa next month. Then they can laugh at you too! Numpty.

  20. I repeat – The Defense minister’s job is to do one thing and that is to ensure that our military is prepared to take on whatever role they can be foreseeably asked to do!
There IS no reason why ANYONE should HAVE TO defend the military from the kind of opportunistic attacks that come from politicians or others within our nation.
The idea that O’Connor was somehow responsible for the behaviour of these political hyenas is absurd.
And IMO – the product of the MSM’s desire to set public agenda….

  21. Muslim groups to exhibit ‘Muhammad dogs’
Two Muslim groups have indicated their willingness to exhibit controversial sketches by artist Lars Vilks after galleries in western Sweden declined to show the artworks for fear of Islamist reprisals.
Inspired by Sweden’s recent ’roundabout dogs’ craze, Vilks composed a series of sketches portraying the Muslim prophet Muhammad as just such a creature.
The well-known artist took his pictures to galleries in Värmland and Bohuslän. Both however refused to show the drawings on the grounds that the security risk was too great.
But now two groups – the Secular Muslims in Sweden (Semus) network and the magazine Minaret – have taken a joint decision to exhibit the sketches.
“This will take place at an established musical and cultural venue in Stockholm. Negotiations are underway and I think it will be ready at the beginning of next week,” Semus spokesman Hooman Anvari told news agency TT.
Anvari believes that there is a very good chance that the exhibition will go ahead as planned….-

  22. There IS no reason why ANYONE should HAVE TO defend the military from the kind of opportunistic attacks that come from politicians or others within our nation.
In a perfect world, perhaps, OMMAG. But in real life, that’s part of what our politicians do: engage opponents in a war of ideas, each trying to win over the support of the Canadian public.
O’Connor has undoubtedly gotten a bad rap in some areas, as I was careful to point out in my post at The Torch. The press certainly forgot to mention all the good work he did wrangling equipment through such a difficult procurement process (eighteen months to go from an idea about a plane we should buy to first tail on the tarmac, with billions of dollars on the line, is nothing short of a miracle, and one point for which he deserves a great deal of praise). But at the end of the day, he didn’t back up his troops in the one way only he could: in the political realm.

Georges mother is a world renound mathematician . The whole family genii. One can look up each on Google, many entries. Very rara avis. remarkable.
