Every time a politician tells you that his policy will “come at a cost“, you just know he doesn’t have your best interests in mind.

Carney discussed Canada’s plan to respond to the U.S. trade war by striking new trade deals with other countries.

“We have everything we need to pivot and prosper,” he said.

“That pivot will come at a cost. There’s always a cost to action. But it doesn’t come close to the cost of standing still.”

    I tried to give Poilievre the benefit of the doubt, but he is a showboating, lazy, and non-serious doofus. THIS very issue is a “hat rack”. Instead of depending on Carney to be up front and transparent, Poilievre should, instead, be doing his homework and figuring out on his own what the cost would be (as should all Canadian so-called Conservatives). He (and they) should be screaming that cost from the rooftops and doing so in a relatable way that connects with Canadians. None of these opposition politicians in Canada have any fight in them, or competent strategy.

    Even if the press belittles their opinions. Even if the majority party claims them to be misguided and wrong; neither of those parties can hide the eventual truth in black and white when the reckoning arrives. Instead, the opposition politicians have no interest is fighting today….or tomorrow. That’s the major problem, and unless someone steps up and starts the lead from the right in a competent way, nothing is going to change.

      When your argument is the unequivocal truth, you are arguing from a position of strength. If you’re an Erin O’Toole or an Andrew Scheer, and the least little pushback leaves you stammering and stuttering a hasty apology for daring to express a contrary opinion, you are NOT leadership material. At all.

      I had some hope for Poilievre at one point, until his stands on the Quebec dairy cartel, the residential school ‘genocide’, the Christine Anderson thing and the truckers convoy exposed his real character (even before he oh-so-eagerly jumped on the “Elbows Up!” anti-Trump bandwagon). Where is our Canadian politician laying out a vision of conservative principles and policies, explaining and defending them as necessary, then challenging people with “prove me wrong” or “change my mind”? That will never be PP, because he doesn’t actually believe in many conservative principles.

      Dump him, and get a *real* conservative to lead the CPC. Give yourself a fighting chance to save Canada before it is too late.

        I was a PPC paid member in 2022 and 23. Went to a meet and greet with Max in the OK summer of 23. Max makes a good speech and presence and explained his departure from the CPC, and, how their politics work.
        Yes, PP’s only principles are what’s been decided by focus groups and strategic polling. While it may be “pragmatic”, it can also push a so-called conservative taking socialist positions on matters.
        Like the Dairy cartel.
        Like on Trade.
        Like Christine Anderson.
        Like many, I used to really be rallying for Pierre, but especially since the election, he’s just a mini-Mark.
        Certainly never voting for the slimebag, globalist, corrupt, hypocritical LIEberals, but, PP doesn’t seem to know what a conservative is, without wearing his Blue Liberal suit.

      2. It is 2.5 years until the next election and the Globalist party (nee Liberal) has a majority. You can be Don Quixote and tilt at every windmill or you can be strategic. I am hoping Rierre is being strategic. Have problems with Pierre – he is too much a professional politician but is the best available. There once was a ‘true’ conservative but Max couldn’t get elected dogcatcher – lesson there. Will stick with the CPC no matter how many Glob (nee Liberal) aligned presstitutes tell me otherwise. There is a load of hurt coming down the road and the winning message is being written. Carney has instigated a trade war with the US by poking a thin skinned president, cozied up to China including their military, and is sucking up to a failed Europe. I have no trust in the Honourable Member for Brookfield and am sure there will be a lot more mistakes and their results to take advantage of. Focus, be strategic

  2. The cost will be fire sale prices for Brookfield to sweep in to save the ungrateful Canadians from themselves….. at pennies on the dollar. The real cost is Carney selling our collective souls to Chairman Xi.

    Where else but in bizzaro / elbozo world does it make sense to start a trade war with someone responsible for 80% of your sales, then further agitate things by forming an economic and now military alliance with the greatest enemy of said best customer. If they can just get a Democrat back in the White House, the new world order can then commence. It’s so painfully obvious now.

  5. I love the way Carney has fooled everyone into believing that he is going to build pipelines to the Pacific to sell Alberta oil to China . He hasn’t mentioned yet how he intends to circumvent BC to get there.

    1. And the reality is, Ottawa has always had the sole constitutional authority to ram a pipeline through regardless of the protestations of a province. Ottawa simple pretends otherwise.

      They believe that pipeline will get built, because Carney PR Theatre.

      Governments of the current era are dreadfully inept at large projects, never meeting timetables or budgets within reason. Hence my doubts that pipeline, as currently proposed, is just nonsense and posturing for selfish politics, namely, to sabotage nationalist Alberta ambitions.
      No regressive legislation has been repealed, no tanker “ban” has been repealed, no native groups have been appeased or otherwise.
      Canadians are caught in severe Cult behaviour, it’s morbid TDS.

      And Polievre is just an embarrassing mini-Mark. By play pretending as mini-Mark, why would anyone vote for him, when Carney has the same and original TDS message?

Harper did sign 46 trade agreements and percentage of trade going South remained the same. Buy the media ,criminalize speech ,seize the firearms, and divide the people. The opposition is neutered ,there hasn’t been a straight answer for 11 years,50 + percent think Trump is the problem ,and government spends with no accountability. Yet some still think there is a conservative leader the Canadian public will find palatable. Dream on. The picture is pretty clear to me.
