      3. The mentally ill will include (and be mostly) comprised of the mentally handicapped…in short, people who are least able to defend themselves.
        It will also include such people as veterans suffering from PTSD or people just suffering from depression (understandable in Canada at the moment)…just as they did in Hitler’s Germany.

        It sounds like the very thing a leftist would fantasize about.

        1. Are you familiar with the Duplessis children? worth a couple minutes to see what Canadians are capable of … it wasn’t to cull children, it was for money, and not having to do the work to educate children once they were determined to be “substandard” or uneducable.
          It’s a thing in Canada, see the masters thesis of former Sask Premier Tommy Douglas, who founded gov’t medical care in Sask.

          2. UJane – what I expect is far more likely to happen is the continued … and increased deferral and denial of elder care. Yes, defacto KILLING of old people who can’t get the medical treatment they need. The government will shrug and say … but you aren’t willing to pay MORE taxes for a proper healthcare system … so there you go … you get crap medical … ya cheapskates.

            It’s what governments do. It’s what UNIONS do.

      I would not, however, have gubmint provide the service per se.
      BUT I would have no compunctions about providing the prisoner materials needed for a successful DIY suicide.

      Another one: Brian Koeberger did a plea deal for life in prison with no possibility of parole. Facing this bleak future, I believe that if he so wished he should be permitted to rescind the plea deal and accept death by firing squad. I do realize that many here would want him to suffer the misery of prison life for maybe 50 years. I get that but I’d rather save the wasted money.

  11. I recall a statistic that 90% of the money that is spent on you on healthcare is spent in the last 6 months of your life. We could modify the health care system to extend your life earlier on so that you lived longer at a lower cost to the system.

        On that topic, It’s thought many of those missing indigenous women are missing because of misdeeds conducted by spouses. It may be very uncomfortable for an inquiry to dig too deep on that file.
