Montreal Economic Institute- TOO MANY CANADIANS ARE LEAVING EMERGENCY ROOMS UNTREATED
According to the data collected, out of 16,297,628 emergency room visits in 2024, 1,267,736 patients left without having been treated, which is 7.78% of the total, or around one in every 13 visits.

Over 16 million E room visits out of a population of 40 million.
Yikes.
One wonders how many of those were illegal aliens…
Or for that matter, legal aliens and refugees.
That, I think, is because so many people cannot find a doctor to check relatively minor ailments. Their only alternative is an ER. Canada’s medical system(s) are corrupt at the core.
I agree. That’s at least part of the problem.
How many ER visitors are Canadians?
Ah, I see Dumb Biker had the same thought.
The question, though, is how many Canadians SHOULD be leaving the ER untreated? This paper
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28992158/
puts it at around 3.3%. These are people with tooth aches, back aches, hangovers, mental health issues, and so on.
From my personal experience in May, north of 60% should be leaving the ER.
You see when I arrived around midnight it was a 6hr wait before you could even talk to a doctor.
Most of the people in the waiting room were family members of the immigrants who needed to talk to a doctor.
They took up all of the available seating and nearly all of the fresh air too.
