Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I’ve enjoyed season 1 of Landman, and my review is much shorter. A mediocre show which Billy Bob Thornton turns into must watch. He is unbelievably good in it. Everything else about the show is passable.
Good show but the plot line gets a little silly from time to time. There are totally dysfunctional families and then there’s Tommy’s family. Yikes.
The scene where Tommy cuts off his own finger in the hospital reminded me of this good ol’ boy being deposed for an accident that occurred on a rig. The whole 10 minutes is hilarious.

With chain tongs replaced by hydraulic ones, decapitation by chain is less likely. No, I never witnessed it myself but others described how they saw it unfold.
I was watching some guys run production tubing on a service rig. The bottom joint of pipe had a whole bunch of one inch holes in it. One of the rig hands, put a four foot long piece of pipe (called a drift) inside the pipe just before it was hauled up to the rig floor. The drift slides down the inside of the pipe, and ensures there is no obstruction in the inside of the pipe.
Unseen by any of us, the rig hand stuck one of his fingers in a hole in the pipe as it was being raised. The drift sliding down the inside of the pipe severed his finger. We never found the top inch and a half of his finger.
