A Culture in Decline

The fact that only around a third of Canadians found the pandemic measures excessive is troubling. One must assume that the other two thirds were either okay with the measures or felt they were insufficient.

Thirty-six per cent of Canadians agree with the notion that government reactions to the pandemic were exaggerated, according to the poll by Leger for the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS).

People in the Prairies and Alberta were more likely to have a negative perception of the decisions taken by government. Forty-seven per cent of Albertans and 45 per cent of Manitoba and Saskatchewan respondents agreed the COVID response was exaggerated.

But the “much too much, almost zealotry, related to being vaccinated” also came back to haunt public health officials, said Bowman, who has spoken out about how the unvaccinated were demonized as right-wing radicals. The vaccine passports and mandates had a politically polarizing impact, creating an “us-vs-them” mentality, he said.

  1. 1/3? This is why I don’t consider myself Canadian. 80’s and 90’s I was proclaiming Canada is the best country in the world. What I found out is Canadians are full of themselves, didn’t see it 30-40 years ago, I see it now – everyday.

      1. 30+ years ago. The world and people change. Always been a skeptic but holy smokes, we were no where near the level of lies today.
P.S. I did see the superiority complex of Canadians then but it didn’t factor into how I saw events of the day.

    1. Yeah, with ya there. The average mediocre citizen wants to be told what to do and when, following orders from their political masters. As a result, I don’t recognize this country anymore, nor feel like a citizen, more of an occupier that isn’t allowed to leave for good without shedding my lifetime investments.
Especially since Covid, it’s clear that governments don’t deserve any loyalty, and neither do many other citizens. They can fend for themselves when TSHTF.
A trip to Costco shows you what the typical Canadian is, a selfish, entitled POS.

  2. Internationally, Canadians are now rightly looked upon as a bunch of virtue-signaling woke scolds and safety Karens.

  3. Meh…when you do a poll like this and 21% of the demographic (18 to 34 year olds) refuses to answer (gosh, I wonder why)…then the poll is skewed and irrelevant.

    1. They polled 1612 Canadians.

I suggest that people who answer polls are a skewed section of our society.

  4. More than troubling. Try it again and people will die and not from the whu who flu. I am in favor of hunting down those who want to kill me.

  5. Covid made me viscerally HATE a great many people. Disgusted with their supine cowardice and submission

How many people out there in SDA-land lost friends over/because of Covid? I know I did

    1. Yes, we were ghosted by many. Only a few have re-appeared, THEY reached out, so we gave them time.
The others? Feck them, they took all the shots and are still brainwashed, it’s Victoria after all!

      1. Until there is a Reckoning for Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford’s disgusting assault on innocent Canadians Human Rights there will be no future for Canada. We are slowly being replaced with Trudeau’s Rapey Beheady crowd and half of India anyway. Many of my fellow Canadians make me wanna puke. The Karens and Claude’s ratting on people during COVID and the entire Education and Medical system revealed themselves as nothing more than tyrannical power hungry weak scared bullies. Nothing will happen to all these assholes so nothing good will happen for Canada. Weird. But I find their smugness and arrogance bothers me the most.

        1. Never heard of a ‘Claude” – is this some officious French-Canadian petit fonctionnaire? Strauss likes his neologisms, so please enlighten me

    2. I believe a large portion of the 2/3 in this poll simply did not want to give an honest answer , perhaps because they fear possible retribution for speaking honestly or having taken the jab are fearful of the future health consequences and are in denial … ie… government healthcare would never impose a dangerous “jab”.

      1. I’m with you 100% Toad.
        No quarter.
        Eric Strauss nailed it.
I didn’t lose friends or relatives.
They just revealed that they would sell our souls down the river just so long as they could still keep THEIR quiet lives.
F@&K THEM AND THE HORSE THEY RODE IN ON.

    3. Lost them to sudden death or turbo cancer, too. It’s very sad. Many just went along with things.

  6. And the propaganda continues from alleged credentialed experts, who cherry pick their “truths”…..from the article…..
“…. the vaccines absolutely do protect against severe disease and death, Bowman said. People “aren’t ending up in the intensive care unit, and that’s a wonderful thing,” he sai…..”
Absolute nonsense. By July of 2022, the BCCDC published their Donut Charts showing 90% of ICU beds and deaths were THE JABBED. So, what did they do? Erase the public data of course, it didn’t fit the narrative. MSM remains uninterested in this clear lie by their NDP betters.
Viruses mutate and weaken over time. This is what happened to Covid, it got weaker.
THE RESULT WAS FEWER DEATHS AND HOSPITALIZATIONS.
It wasn’t the clot shots, these are dangerous to one’s health. But please Allah, Unme and Dead Rat, please continue to get all your shots, immediately, it’s part of your cult status.

  7. There’s probably a couple of things influencing the answer. One is that many people, especially older people, trust both government and the traditional media (found in the polls demographic info). The second is that people don’t want to admit that they themselves were wrong, particularly about how the unvaccinated were treated.

Alberta and Saskatchewan have both a younger average age population and have less trust in government. The 2 provinces also had the lowest covid vaccination rates and lean far more politically to conservative/libertarian values than other parts of Canada.

  8. It’s a public opinion poll, done by a polling firm straight out of the province of Quebec. If you believe that sampling, then I have a toll bridge you might be interested in, or waterfront property on the St. Lawrence, or a side of snipe but you will have to wait until I catch it first.

  9. Totally what you’d expect from useless Concordia University overpaid equity/diversity pearl clutchers.
    I don’t believe them.

  10. The results come from an extremely small sample, 1600 Canadians. That doesn’t even fill our hockey rink. Who answers surveys anymore?

  11. Here’s the question that “the jabbed” should have been asked:

If you had not been compelled to get jabbed, would you have done it?

  12. The isn’t an indicator of how clearly Canadians understood the matter, it is an indicator of being TOLD what to think of the matter. It is an indicator of propaganda effectiveness.

  13. I cannot recall how many times, when faced with a clerk/receptionist, etc, behind one of those ‘glassish’ screens which extended about 3 feet each side and had a cutout level with the face of the individual behind it, I asked “How DO they train those little covids not to go through the cutout or around the ends?”

    1. They believed that those screens worked because they cannot see air moving. If someone walked in, smoking a cigarette, and blew the smoke against the screen, even a screen with no hole, they’d see the smoke flatten out against the screen and flow around, over and under it. It’s what air does.

A doctor made a YouTube video of the uselessness of those stupid masks. Besides diagrams and explanations of air movements, he used a vaper to blow through masks. That vape smoke, whose visible particles are larger than the tiny, invisible aerosols that carry the virus, went right through the masks and around their edges. This is the mask test portion of that video: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=doctor+uses+vaper+to+prove+masks+don%27t+work

  14. A third? I find it surprising it was that high. Based on conversations and experiences I’d wager maybe 10% of us found it “troubling,” especially anywhere urban. And of the remaining 90% I’d say the majority wanted to be locked down harder and for MRNA treatment resistors to be treated even more harshly, including forced injections, imprisonment including dumping us in concentration camps, and executions. Yes, you could see it all over social media and hear it in real life- many really did want us dead. I will never forget that.

    1. I don’t know if it was as high as ninety percent or not but your right about people smiling when talking about the demise of people not going along to get along. And I won’t forget it either.

  15. the mass psychosis is astounding … I’m in Alberta and I am still seeing people with face diapers on driving in a car by themselves ….. cana_duh!

  16. 1) This is a POLL. Even as all polls seem to be wrong about politics, this one is wrong about Covid. All you have to do is say the word “Covid” anywhere in Ontario and people get this look on their face. Usually they start yelling.

    2) This is Canadian media. Lying liars lie. You don’t h@te them enough.

    3) Remember how Harris was going to win? This is the same thing.

  17. “One must assume that the other two thirds were either okay with the measures or felt they were insufficient.”

One can assume anything, the fact of the matter is that 2/3s of Canadians are so indoctrinated into what the government tells them that they have lost the ability to critically think for themselves. And for that we will all pay dearly!
