Unexpected headlines

Did someone replace all the staff at CTV news recently? That seems to be the only logical explanation for the presence of such a story on their website. A number of water carriers for the current regime appear to have failed in their duty.

According to the report, Canada’s economic output per person (real GDP per capita) has actually been decreasing for many years.

Back in the 1980s, the report points out, Canada was doing better than the average of advanced economies by about US$4,000 per person. Over time, however, the advantage faded, and the U.S. jumped to US$8,000 a person, according to TD.

Before anyone gets too excited however, it’s obvious that the report is careful not to dig too deep when it comes to reasons for the trend. That might invite criticism of our burgeoning welfare state and the exploding debt levels that go along with it.

  1. The insurance scam industry really made out like gangbusters when they bought our politicians…
What is these other insurances and health care system that it was supposed to replace?
Becoming our parents as we’re not responsible to governance decisions ourselves without massive propaganda and imposed regulations, restrictions and laws with lots and lots of punishment for anyone breaking them.

  2. It’s always interesting to note what the media doesn’t say or quickly glosses over. I posted yesterday about how badly most Canadian provinces rank when the GDP per capita is compared to all US states and Canadian provinces. The exceptions are Alberta and Saskatchewan while most Canadian provinces are right near the bottom of the 60 North American jurisdictions. You can see why Alberta and Saskatchewan are saying “No!!” to Ottawa’s stupid climate plans – it will guarantee their two economies will sink down to the level of the rest of Canada’s terrible GDP per capita.

    Trudeau’s Canada…

    1. Get a business that isn’t financially fined out of existence by the multitude of regulations, restrictions and laws imposed.
It’s totally illegal the past employment I have had as health and safety was imposed without consulting the people it was double and triple redundant with the different agencies being created and imposed.

We import because our politicians made it illegal in Canada to be making the same products.

      1. Welcome to the world created by the World Trade Organization. It was preceded by the abortion known as NAFTA in 2008. We did this to ourselves in a scheme foisted on us by a gang of banksters, environmentalists and crony capitalists.

      2. “We import because our politicians made it illegal in Canada to be making the same products.”

Ah me – a memory cell lazily stirs. A certain unnamed Liberal prime minister was in the midst of announcing his carbon tax regimen, “to save the Earth” of course. The Premier of Ontario (I don’t even remember which one – that’s how long ago this nonsense began) harrumphed “Well, he’d better take into-account all the steps Ontario has already made to reduce OUR greenhouse gas emissions!”

        – And I thought to meself, thought I ” – Like WHAT? – driving industry out of the Province wholesale?”

High, and steadily increasing (1) Taxes, (2) Regulations and (3) Electricity costs were how Ontario converted itself from Canada’s industrial heartland and a “have” Province, to our industrial wasteland and a “have-not” Province; and BTW, this works everywhere else it’s been tried. But hey – at least we’re “SAAAAAAVING THE EARTH!!!” #SMH

  3. Given the choice.. Im surprised that anybody doing the math would pick Canada over the USA.. So, the ones we do get are already rich or cant be bothered to do the math..

Long term prognosis.. The rich leave through the same door they came in and we are stuck with a population that cant do math.. Canada in decline where the only thing that grows is government.. We call this growth :)..

  4. ” …our burgeoning welfare state…” I think we are well past the point of being simply burgeoning, probably more like morbidly advanced.

  5. The malignancy that is our federal government is largely responsible for our declining state. But who voted them in? Our ovine populace led to believe in the fairy tales of “net zero”, green energy, sunny ways, indiginous mass graves, satanic historical figures, soft power, mass uncontrolled immigration, unfettered growth of government, “equity” appointments and hiring practices to name just a few of the destructive policies.

  6. I suspect that “the elite” would now welcome a regime change. They want our resources.

Trudeau has little credibility for years, as he never wanted to “govern” Canada, just appear as a royalty-type figurehead (he even admitted to that). I can not imagine why he went to Lithuania.

He has totally messed up access to investment opportunities in numerous ways, by bills, regs, climate insanity and expansion of unnecessary federal workers, who are/might be hired to screen your e-mail and social presence. Social score to come …

CTV has often been a bit less lefty than CBC, but more tuned into global elites. I am not confident that PP can do much, esp with the NDP asking for mortgage help for very stupid people etc.

DEI policies = DOA for GDP (does anyone even believe today’s inflated GDP figures anymore? or underestimated inflation?)

  7. Quick, quick, Joostaihn!

Another $600 million handout to the beggars out to stifle them for a while … indexed for inflation, of course.

Oh, and don’t forget TD’s subservient loyalty … you remember, back in February ’21, don’t you? A little preferential treatment tossed their way should get them back in your lap.

  8. Is this more “market failure” whining from the so called legacy media?

I believe the failure was in not printing anything worth reading.

May they die the death they so richly deserve.

  9. I blame Trump. For improving the US economy so much.

He’s like that new guy that shows up to work in the union factory and outperforms every single one of them without even trying.

  10. “Did someone replace all the staff at CTV news recently?”
If I remember correctly, there was a recent announcement that a purge was underway at CTV. I should have saved that item…
