Today a Liberal.
“Canadians are known as peacekeepers above all and not warriors. There’s nothing proud about being a warrior, war is a desperate outcome for a human being, peacekeeping is extremely noble.”
I have no clue where the idea that this guy could be a contender for CPC leadership comes from. I have heard exactly nothing ‘in the wind’ from anyone outside of media and I think they just want to stir up crap.
H/t, Rob
Wonder if he would send his son or daughter to that region. Peace Keeper! Bah Humbug!
“Peacekeeping”, as currently practiced = striking poses in blue helmets for domestic media consumption and UN plaudits, and running away when the guns come out.
Cypress? He was peacekeeping at a ski resort in Vancouver?
So O’Leary just outed himself as a moron.
What peace exactly are they going to keep? How exactly, does he see a mission like this going down? He’d put Canadians between two packs of rabid dogs, with orders to tell them to stop slaughtering each other, and permission to tell them again if they don’t listen the first time.
That is the very odd thing about peace “keeping”; you can’t do it without Leopard battle tanks, FN FALs, armored personnel carriers… It’s like you have to use force to make peace, then show force to maintain it. Wonder how he would accomplish that kind of stuff without deplorable warriors?
He doesn’t know that before one can keep the peace that they must first win the war?
Foolish.
Any chance of him getting my support just evaporated (retired Major)
“Canadians are known as peacekeepers above all and not warriors” Kevin
He is brain dead, it was the Canadian warriors in WW1, WW11 & Korea that distinguished themselves… The UN peacekeeping was a total failure.. maybe he wants to be appointed to the Senate….
God Bless the Peacekeepers…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zn5jjo-kNww
Canadians are Peace Keepers eh…?
Tell that to the relatives of those that died at Vimy Ridge….
Tell that to the relatives of those that died at Dieppe…
Tell that to the relatives of those that died in France and Holland…
Tell that to the guys that fought in the Medak Gap….
Shows how much he knows….not very F’n Much…
..and as such, not even a consideration for Leader of the conservatives.
I am sick and tired of hearing this BULL$hit from Politicians….we are either in the game to win or not in it at all. Peacekeeping is an OxyMoron with ROE that prevents one from doing ANYTHING…including keeping the peace. Strange that you never hear the Americans calling themselves “peacekeepers”…. at least they understand that men in uniform are WARRIORS.
But it seems our effeminate wankers in Ottawa have no F clue….and continue to Kiss the UN’s (_i_)….
Christ I am getting sick of living in this politically gutless country……rife with OBAMA syndrome…
I guess he is really looking for a spot in Justine’s cabinet, maybe as Minister of Surrender.
Can’t see O’Leary really running for CPC leadership – he’ll keep talking the talk for Talk 1010, but when push comes to shove, he’s going to find some excuse to stay out.
I think he confused a warrior with some wanker who wants to die for King & Country..The Hollywood version
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his” Patten

All excellent comments above. I would only add that conscription be brought back, and ALL politicians and their family members down to the 21st cousins be the first ones conscripted. ISIS poses no threat to peacekeepers??? Just what effing planet is this useless waste of skin and air living on?
Any thought I might have given to him as a potential leadership candidate just evaporated
Warriors used to be respected as a high class of society. They didn’t start wars, but they knew how to win them.
That said, if Trump dismantles NATO, or even expects other NATO members to contribute their share of GNP and citizens to their own militaries, then Kevin O’Leary is talking about a world that was(Liberally speaking) instead of what shall be.
That is not leadership, or even leading at all.
They said Trump was finished before he started too. He wasn’t conservative… He was a racist sexist bigot homophobe… A buffoon r that would never win… He upset the true cons bigly.
To be a leader one must learn to be a follower.
to be a peace keeper one must learn to be a warrior.
You’ve got it right. I agree that Canadians distinguished themselves in WWI, WWII, and the Korean war. I hate it when the Canadian “dumb” downed population and our effeminate young pussified men don’t remember their sacrifice but would rather put on make-up and poof up their hair like our illustrious Potato Head PM. Peace keepers…humbug, just ask Senator Romeo Dallaire what peacekeeping means. Kevin O’Leary just lost points with me…for me he is one of the “elites” who wouldn’t give a damn about the deplorables.
to be a peace keeper one must learn to be a warrior.
EXACTLY !!! Warriors are the only ones who can keep peace.
He just shot-himself-in-the-foot regarding any chance at ever becoming a serious leadership candidate. His belief that “there’s nothing proud about being a warrior.” will haunt him. He’s no Trump.
O’Leary mirrors Trudeau in projecting Cold War “peacekeeping” strategies into the current day. A dangerous proposition that will get a lot of Canadians killed for no advancement of the national interest. I will take O’Leary seriously when he volunteers for the “peacekeeping” services he is so enthralled with.
Glad to hear O’Leary exposed his true feelings. This guy didn’t fool me for one minute. A bit of a blowhard, he may be bright at making a living but he has few leadership qualities, and with his attitude I doubt he has any interest in acquiring such.
Stay out of the ME. /sarcnot
Yes,scratch O’Leary from my list of candidates, the guy sounds like he was made for the Liberal Party.
Maybe Justin can get him to run in the next byelection.
“striking poses in blue helmets for domestic media consumption and UN plaudits, and running away when the guns come out.”
Excellent description, cousin Dudley, and just what an old CAF friend told me they did in Gaza, mid 70’s.
For that matter, tell that to the men I grew up around, in “wartime housing”. The WW II vets came home to a country woefully unprepared for them. So, in cities and towns around Canada, basic housing (and it was really basic) was built. One had to have a wife and child to qualify for a basic bungalow; the story-and-a-half version was for those with two children or more.
So the men came home, reclaimed their wives and families, and tried to adjust to civilian life. Some families did well; some did not. But we need to remember these men, and pay tribute to what they did and what they tried to do.
“Peace Keepers” are merely warriors that aren’t allowed to defend themselves because of political edict. It doesn’t do anything but getting our sons and daughters in peril for basically, nothing.
Can anyone name … just one … ” Peace Keeping” mission that did anything other than delay the inevitable?
Same for me. O’Leary no longer exists as a candidate for the CPC. Toss up between Leitch and Andrew Shier at the moment.
It would be nice to have a platform from each, altough Chong can perforate his in 4″ squares and use as needed.
Pathetic cuck.
Why did anyone buy his “potential” anyway?
Who brought him to Canadians attention?
Was it not CBC?
And the other presstitutes who have been hyping his “leadership” qualities?
All hail the producers of Harper Derangement Syndrome.
There are no leaders in our effete elites.
There is no room for truth in Canadian society, only polite lies and going along with corruption to get along.
Reform failed, the progressives once again dominate the “conservative” party and it may as well be amalgamated with the libtards.
Kleptocrats will use any flag, symbol and ideology to gain and hold power.
Power being the key to their ongoing theft.
In a modern democracy, the big lie is the parasites tool of choice. The colour of tie these creatures wear does not change their nature.
The big lie is bringing about financial ruin and civic collapse, then the likes of O’Leary will find out what warriors are and why they will always exist.
Fools and bandits will always try to take that which is not theirs.
If you’ve lost SDA, don’t bother running for leader of the Conservative party.
I hope people don’t get fooled by this guy. He’s another narcissist who sees himself as Trump North. He has all the wealth he could want so now he wants to shoot for legacy.
Importantly he is a friend of Frank Giustra, another billionaire. Giustra is mixed up with the Clintons in a bad way, and personally I’d fear Mr. Wonderful is simply ambitious, lacking the loyalty to his country that one might find in a personality like Trump.
That phrase “based on his personal experience in …” doesn’t actually say he was involved in peacekeeping operations. And although Wikipedia says he spent two years at the St. Jean military college that also doesn’t necessarily mean he did any actual military service. (And it didn’t say he graduated.)
I don’t know him but I’ve known people who weren’t good enough for military service and to cope they would say instead that military service was beneath them. He reminds me of those fellows.
I’ve worn the blue beret twice because my country asked me to do so. The UN has no clue and its horribly corrupt. Not the organization to create peace or keep it. Talks a good line but has no clue how to make it reality, just like this O’Leary fellow. This is Liberal garbage.
When he hinted at running for the Conservative leadership, a lot of people hailed him as the saviour of the party. I thought he was simply doing so for his own interests and those people thought I lost my marbles.
It looks like I was right all along. Oh, well…..
Expending blood and treasure in attempting to prevent the killing of one tribal variant of Islam by another makes as much sense to Canadian interests as bringing the same pathology here. Our military should only be used where the mission, including victory, is defined and only when the security interests of Canada is threatened. The further the potential conflict from our shores, the more difficulty in meeting the last criteria.
A good article from 12 years ago:

Just another elitist asshole who doesn’t have the brains enough to honour and respect the Canadian warriors who raised the Canadian flag (Red Ensign) at Vimy Ridge or the Canadian warriors of WW2 who kicked Nazi ass all the way back to Berlin… etc. etc… Canada didn’t just suddenly and mysteriously appear in 1964 or 1968 it took some hard men and woman to build the nation Liberals love to legislate away… Hey O”Leary, go f#%k yourself with all the other Liberals.
O’Leary hasn’t declared his candidacy yet, he’s dribbling out his ideas to see how they fly. If he’s afraid of rejection he better stay out of politics.
The notion of Peacekeeping in Syria or any other of the ME tinderboxes just doesn’t fly. It’s not a Boy Scout field trip. Sending unarmed men and women into a battle zone is foolhardy and cannot be classified as military, they are not Forces, they will be lambs to the slaughter.
I quiet my office job and now I am getting paid 126 Dollars hourly. How? I work-over internet! My old work was making me miserable,so I was forced to try-something different. 4 years after. ..I can say my life is changed completely for the better! Check it out what i do..
GOOD LUCK………… http://tiny.pl/gcjrd
There’s no way in Hell I would vote for o’leary. He’s just another liberal with a blue tie and no understanding of Canadian history. F*ck him.
Canadians are known as peacekeepers above all and not warriors.
Neither Rob Furlong nor anyone in all of PPCLI could be reached for comment, apparently.
Who gives a shit what this bald-headed mouthpiece has to say….about anything. Just another parasite like Suzuki who lined his pockets with CBC (taxpayer) dollars.
Kevin O’leary should have listened to Dr Hadden. The term “Storm Troopers” came from Hitler when he was referring to the Canadians in the 2nd World War. I feel Mr. O’Leary should stay out of politics!!
in order to secure peace one’s enemy has to be eradicated, once destroyed, peace will ensue. When the enemy decides it is time to start up again, repeat until peace breaks out.
“There’s nothing proud about being a warrior…”
I read that and was very much reminded of this speech by Jack Nickolson in the movie A Few Good Men. Here’s the clip:

There is a similar scene in The Caine Mutiny. The book was very good, unfortunately the movie wasn’t. None the less, here is the clip I had in mind:

Marigold nailed it: O’Leary clearly admires Roméo Dallaire, who, as retired Major General Lewis MacKenzie, was no warrior.
O’Leary better stay with the Shark Tank, he’s jumped the shark in politics before he conjures up the guts to enter the ring.
I have lived and worked within a stones-throw of the Quebec border for most of my life, and I have met hundreds and hundreds of Quebecers. Out of all of them – including the ones who moved to Eastern Ontario to get away from Bill 101 – there was only a single one of them who was a true, small c, conservative. And he sadly passed away a few years ago.
All the rest are dyed-in-the-sheep’s-wool Liberals. A few of them may have voted for Mulroney, but that prick had much more in common with turdo la doo and that crew than anyone on this blog.
DAllaire had never served a combat role in his entire career before Rawanda. He was a desk jockey who wanted his jollies before retirement.
I had a friend who grew up in one of those houses. His father fought in the infantry in Italy. It was a tiny bungalow that didn’t even have a basement until they built one using shovels and picks. Its now worth change from half a million dollars.
