  1. There is no dark side of the moon, really. In fact, it’s all dark

Eclipse. Artemis just posted photos of the full eclipse of the moon. A perfect ending to Pink Floyd’s masterpiece … that may actually be more popular now than in the 1970’s. That’s how masterpieces work … they are forever.

  2. Cool photo.

We all know there are loads of progressive arseholes upset that the cost didn’t go to the poor, the homeless, illegal criminal aliens or just angry, oppressed spear chuckers.

    1. Just IMAGINE how many miles of track President Gavin Newsom could have laid (sorry) … with the Artemis Budget. And that train would go almost as fast as Artemis!

  3. God bless & wish safe return for ’em but…
    – All systems could have been tested without humans; pictures like this + more can be done easily with the existing satellites currently orbiting the Moon.
    – Apollo 11 in 1969 did way more than this, and with 3 astronauts, not 4.
    – If they really-really had to use humans, couldn’t they minimize danger and send 2 instead of 4?
    – All this PR (“oh wow the astronaut said this and that” – which are all Greta/UN-style glittery-peace-feel-good crap) should have been kept to a minimum/zero – let ’em do the jobs they were trained for, not entertain the masses.
Sorry for being a Grinch but to me that mission in Iran with B2 bombers (June 2025) + the recent missions to recover the 2 pilots ejected were more heroic and cunning.

    1. I’ve always been keenly aware that NASA spends a healthy amount of its budget on PR … and PC … to keep the natives from grumbling about ALL that $$$ spent off-the-planet. So yeah … you’re not wrong.

    2. While it’s impressive, I question why it’s done. Because we can? What could be the purpose of a permanent base on the moon? Or going to Mars? And once we’ve done that, then what? We won’t be going any farther. The rest of the planets are too hostile for us to land, the stars too distant to reach. Star Trek isn’t real.

  4. I asked Ai a question about the moon … just to certify what I recall was the case.

Yes, the Moon does rotate on its axis, but it does so at the same rate that it orbits the Earth, which is about 27.3 days. This synchronous rotation means that the same side of the Moon always faces Earth.

Just one more AMAZING, almost improbable characteristic of our universe … and home on earth.

  5. Reading the comments on “X”, it is obvious that if the earth were round paper would not lay flat.
    /s.

  6. During the twilight days of his reign, former President Obama mused that NASA’s greatest mission moving forward should be outreach to Muslims. I believe it was comedian Dennis Miller who reacted saying, “Muslims will only want to go to the moon when the Jews set up Israel on the moon”. Given the moon’s weaker gravity, suicide bomber debris will be far further scattered than here on earth.
