Have we underestimated the Liberals or those controlling them? Ten years of destructing the oil industry and investment environment ending with a New World Order and China as our savior? Meh.. it’s not like anybody is going to buy them. The entire reason China was so desperate to get EVs into Canada is that their own domestic market for them has completely collapsed. They have dealer lots stacked with unsold units, many close to a year old, and they are desperate to dump their excess capacity upon foreign markets. The EU told them to get bent when China tried to force more units upon them, Carney chose to bend over instead.

That Kissinger quote is playing out in full display in for example Germany , where the US destroyed the Nord Stream pipeline , and with tariffs in Europe and Canada forcing auto-industries to relocate to the US.
The US has one policy to either friend of foe …”Me first” … agree or be destroyed.
Whether one likes Carney or not , it seems the ruling Laurentian Elites controlling Carney have decided that to survive as rulers of Canada , as opposed to being replaced by Washington , markets other than the US must be procured. Canadian farmers may yet be saved with a Chinese market restored .. others may benefit in time. Canada has no native auto industry , it consists of branch plants which are vulnerable. Even if you are Volkswagen located in Germany , if your main market is the US , Trump tariffs forced them to relocate to the US.
Also don’t rule out Chinese cars. You can buy the equivalent of a Tesla for $20,000USD in China.
