In case you don’t know, California Highway 1 near Big Sur was closed by a landslide in 2023. Due to safetyism, environmental groups, and government incompetence/corruption the road remains closed and the possible opening dates keep shifting. There’s really no plan to fix/open the road and the tourist oriented economy along the coast is dying.
The road was built in the early 1920s. Over the years there have been MANY landslides. The road was always fixed and reopened.
But somehow, 100 years later in Gavin Newsom’s California, this is impossible. It’s as if we’ve lost the ability to repair roads.
In California they have an Amber Alert of sorts to close Hwy 1 when someone spots Bruce Jenner driving a vehicle

California was great back then. Now it’s just a physically beautiful state that is hollowed out. It is being run into the ground by Communist grifters who hate America. The Middle Class at the margin is leaving except the 2,100,000 state and local government employees. Large businesses are leaving: Oracle, Chevron, Tesla, Hewlett Packard and Charles Schwab.
I wrote snarky comments yesterday, as to why ‘Big Oil Shrugged’ and CA gasoline prices will spiral out of control in 2026 … and no one seems to care. Californians don’t care because they’ve been programmed (mostly by the public schools) to believe …
“We need to end our addiction to fossil fuels”
“We all need to get out of our cars”
So there is NO outrage that our roads are crumbling. Really … our roads have become shockingly dangerous … because ‘Mass Formation Psychosis’ which drives every Californian’s belief system. Just as Californians shrugged when Gavin closed the beaches because COVID … we all actually BELIEVE “we need to get out of our cars”. So we don’t care that our roads are gridlocked and crumbling. We deserve it.
When Californian’s actually ARE forced out of our cars … the mental midget voters of CA will suddenly begin to care. And PS … the DEI hires at CalTrans simply can’t do the jobs their predecessors could do.

CANNOT repair roads. they are conditioned, programmed, brainwashed, to NOT perform ye olde feduciary duties anymore. just occupy a cubicle in the state capital and ‘go along to get along’.
Here’s an explanation of how this happens
When you have enough folks in elected office that abhor limited government any action that might limit them is seen as an existential threat.
In this particular case you have the state government being co-opted by the environmental lobby and anything that supports private automobile ownership is a potential threat, like keeping a major thoroughfare in operational use, or removing brush where a risk of wildfires can happen, or upgrading infrastructure to handle recurring floods. No climate crisis means they don’t have a mandate.
Socialism and environmentalism love unlimited government.
It’s also why they hate America.
L – There is a type of landslide, that may solve the problem. When people decide, “we’ve had enough of this”, and it reaches a critical mass, politically speaking, Then an electoral landslide can result. In this case the Democrat majority strategy (via mass migration from Latin America) has within it, the seeds of its own destruction.
The migrants, from Mexico and other Latin America, come out of a strong family, strong community, Christian culture e.i. as in El Salvador, Paraguay, and Poland(under the Soviet Union). California is a failing state, but not in complete free fall. There is reason for hope, faint though it maybe.
Living through history is more difficult than reading about it, later!
Unfortunately, the people aren’t required to win elections in California.
The world is spinning backwards because of these people.

It seems more like your managerial class has decided they’re not going to bother. Because when your managers are hired for their pronouns, fixing roads and stuff is not on the priorities list.
But that’s okay. It’ll be fun watching the Woke hiking everywhere because there’s no gas and no road to drive on.

I’ve been on that road. Unfortunately this stasis, this inability to get anything done, applies to the whole Western world these days. The welfare state consumes all financial resources; the enviro-ideologues veto all projects and bureaucratic regulations add cost and delay through an ever increasing and contradictory spaghetti bowel of red tape and reviews. Now it takes 30 years to decide to build a bridge and another 5 to build it, plus cost and time over-runs.
