National Post- Canada wasn’t ‘stolen’ from Indigenous people

In short, the Americas were settled in waves from Asia. Everyone alive today is descended from settlers. The latest “Indigenous” settlers arrived barely ahead of the first European settlers, the Vikings, who settled in Greenland and Newfoundland, and of Christopher Columbus, who started Spanish settlement in the Caribbean.

  1. “The better future for Canada is one where all are treated as equal in law and policy as much as practically possible. It is one where property rights are secure and the economy thrives, and where the “fusion” of peoples from all over the world continues…”

I’ve never heard any politician, or political party, advocate for even half of that. It comes across like a delusional pipe dream. I agree with the general thrust of his argument, but that last paragraph goes totally off the rails for me. We have too many people that benefit from Balkanization, divisiveness, race-based benefits, and moral posturing to ever course correct. Hopefully I’m wrong though.

  2. When I was visiting sites in Georgia USA there is a state park with a peculiar stone wall that looks the same as how the old Irish makes fences with rocks. The Cherokee legend has it this was built by the “moon people” fair skinned people with white hair. They were the original inhabitants of th area and the Cherokee are quite open about having slaughtered them all and taken their land.

  3. I have no doubt a new law will be proposed to punish original indigenous peoples denial shortly.

  4. The so-called first nations were certainly not the first. What they did with the real First Nations will forever be up to debate, but the indjuns now occupying the Canadian taxpayer’s wallet don’t deserve a f*cking thing, let alone the veto rights over their stolen territories. Let them eat tree bark, shyte, or lead. I don’t care for reconciliation or any other fantasy peddled by them or their fedgov enablers.

  5. Do the authors honestly think Indians or Liberals are going to read this?
Do they think if they do read it they’ll do anything but shake their empty heads?
What a waste of time and energy.
    We’re in a civil war.
There is little to no violence, but that’s coming.
I’m not advocating, but stating the obvious.
The Indians have chosen their side – with commies and nutbar Islamists – and they’ll die poorly because of their choice.
I couldn’t care less about the place or the people within.
    Shithole.

  6. Here is a link to Canada’s “First Nation Profiles” page. This link gives some information about each Canadian First Nation. This link takes you to the listing of British Columbia First Nations.

The first thing you will note is there are many First Nations in British Columbia. They are small. The statistics shown are current Government of Canada numbers.

What were the numbers 200 years ago? It is safe to say that these little first nations were simply a family group. They did not control their area as a band of 20+ war party would wipe them off the face of the earth.

Treaties were not signed in British Columbia because indian band defense was based on running away. They were too few in number to stay and fight. You can’t sign treaty when you can’t find the 3 or 4 guys (with sticks and stones) who “own” the valley.
