  1. Let’s face it. Carney is still in the honeymoon stage and many still think that he is the second coming of Christ. Unfortunately we have to wait until the poop hits the fan and the stink permeates the land. Citizens think Polievre’s adversarial role when he speaks the truth is too harsh and discordant for our sensitive feelings. No, now is not time for an election. Carney must be hung by his own petard even if it takes a few years.

    1. Yes, we need to defeat the Uniparty L government , so that we can install the Uniparty C government, then all of our problems will be solved.

  2. “What’s the point of having a Parliament at all if it’s going to cave to the PM’s every whim?”

It’s a fig leaf of legality to keep the Normies from rioting. You make them think they have some say in the matter, and then you do whatever the hell you want.

They have elections in China too. Same reason.

  3. I’d love to think the Cons are playing 5D chess, but no, they’re merely playing their part in the Uniparty of Canada — pretending to oppose. The perennial loser party can’t even play checkers, let alone 2D chess.

  4. I had wondered at why there is a propaganda campaign underway supporting the idea of abandoning the Lockheed F35 contract in favour of a new agreement with SAAB to produce and buy the markedly inferior Grippen fighter – a plane that was already rejected by the RCAF multiple times, and which no NATO country or G7 country has opted to use, (though the UK and the US co-produce parts for it).

The amount of money being spent to boost social media posts from the useful idiots in the “elbows up” brigade is uncanny, and most of Canada’s media is engaged, even though there has been no move by the RCAF to engage in a new selection process. This isn’t chatter – it’s a campaign. I wondered why this, and why now.

Donald Best has a suggestion, and as with most of the big spending announcements in the past year, Brookfield Asset Management is lurking in the background: https://x.com/DonaldBestCA/status/1991543999383912640

    1. 1000 jobs will magically appear, despite only 60 jobs being created for the other country that bought them

  5. One respected pundit Wyatt Claypool believes that it was best to avoid a Christmas election which would anger the populace. It’s a plausible view.

  6. (I’ve always liked John Robson.)

Not advocating, but old fashioned graffitti seems like a far, far better option than voting.
    Shithole.

  7. I think the idea that the liberals wanted an election has significant merit. The idea that Trump is the cause of our woes and PP is his clone is well ingrained in a large number of voters .In addition the NDP is left leaderless ,broke and in chaos , so they would be unlikley to bleed off votes. They would get their majority.
I think a spring election is also unlikley even if the NDP resolve their leadership , as the Liberals will be able to strike a deal that keeps them in power. They will still be broke. The next election will be at the Liberals behest when they are confident of winning ,or when they run out of time. By then, we will have run out of time. We won’t be able to vote them out. Our only hope is a new country.
